The light of Bibi Zainab'seyes

Abu Talib ibn Abdal-Muttalib (549-619 AD)was the head of the clanBanu Hashim. He wasmarried to Fatima bintAsad and was the uncleof Prophet Muhammad(PBUH) and the fatherof Imam Ali (AS). Hisreal name was Imran buthe had a son namedTalib therefore calledAbu Talib. Jafar ibnAbu Talib was alsoknown as Jafar at-Tayyar. He was marriedto Asma bint Umays.

After the death of Jafarshe married Abu Bakrand their son wasMuhammad ibn Abu Bakr. The son of Jafaribn Abu Talib and Asma bint Umays wasAbdullah ibn Jafar. Abdullah ibn Jafar marriedZaynab binte Ali. Aun and Muhammad werethe sons of Abdullah ibn Jafar and Zaynabbinte Ali

The Journey to Kerbala

Abdullah ibn Jafar brought his twosons Aun and Muhammad and handed themover to Imam Hussain (AS). Abdullah said 'OHussain ibn Ali, since you have decided to goand will not allow me to come with you,please take my two sons with you. Aun willrepresent his maternal grandfather Ali ibn Abu

Talib and Muhammad will represent hispaternal grandfather Jafar ibn Abu Talib.'Abdullah then went to Zaynab binte Ali hiswife and told her 'I have brought to you ourtwo sons to go with you. In the time ofdifficulty on the Imam of our time, give oneson as sadqa from your side and the other oneas sadqa from my side'.

Aun and MuhammadAun was the elder son of Abdullah.

When Imam Hussain (AS) left for Iraq fromMecca, Abdullah sent a letter to him fromMedina asking him not to travel to Iraqbecause the people of Kufa had always provedunfaithful. It was Aun and Muhammad whocarried the letter. It is reported that Aun wasthirteen and his brother a year or two younger.They had learnt the art of fencing from theiruncle Abbas Ibn Ali.On the night before Ashura Zaynab binte Alitold her sons'My sons,tomorrow therewill be a battle.I can not askyou to fightbecause youare young. When the boyswere martyred

Hussain (AS) andAbbas carried the twoyoung bodies to thetent and laid them onthe floor. Bibi Zainabwas found in sajdahpraying 'Ya Allah, Ithank you foraccepting my

sacrifice. My heart isfilled with pridebecause my two sonshave given their lives

for your religion.'

Bibi Zainab had two sons

Aun and Mohammed.

They fought bravely but were

soon shaheed

Bibi Zainab thanked Allah for

accepting her sacrifice.
