IntroductionMindTapisapersonallearningenvironmentthatcontainsActivities(Readings,Assignments,Apps,etc.)thatinstructorsandstudentsneedinacourse.Yourcoursehasbeendesignedtofollowastandardcoursecurriculum,butasyoucanseehere,youhavemanyoptionsforcustomization.YoucancustomizeaMindTapbyaddingoreditingActivitiesintheDashboard(distinctActivities)orwithinReadings(inlineActivities.)ADigitalServiceConsultantcanhelpcustomizetheMindTapcoursefurther,editingtheDashboard,foldersandunits.

TheAssignmentWizard

TheAssignmentWizardisavailableofftheInstructorDashboardfromtheManagementToolssectionintheupperrighthandcorner.SelectingtheAssignmentWizardicontakesyoutotheAssignmentsset-updashboardwhereyoucancreate,schedule,anddeleteassignments.andtheoptionsavailableduringtheassignments—likeenablingordisablinglearningtoolslikethebasiccalculatororvideotutorials.IntheAssignmentswizard,alongthetopofthescreen,youwillseefourmodesavailable:

• Settingsallowyoutoadjustallofthespecificsettingsforyourcourse.• Editallowsyoutoadd,deleteandeditassignments.• Previewshowsalistofallassignmentsinchronologicalorderbasedontheirduedates.• TheCourseCalendarlistsyourcoursedatesanddisplayswhichdayshavequizzes,tests,and

assignmentsdue.

SETTINGSSelectingthe“Settings”tabwillallowyoutogloballyeditoptionsforyourcourse’sassignmentsthathavenotbeeneditedpreviously—settingsonthispageapplytoallthelearningtoolsandactivitiesthroughoutthecoursethat.

Step Action1 HomeworkAssignment

GeneralInfo:Theavailabledateofyourcoursedetermineswhenstudentswillbeabletobeginassignments.Theduedatedetermineswhenanassignmentisdue.Ifyouwishtochangethedate,selectthecalendarIconandpickanewavailableorduedate.Notethatsettingtheavailableandduedateshereisonlyhelpfulifyouplanonhavingallyourassignmentsavailableordueatthesametime.Forexample,ifyouweretohaveallyourassignmentsavailableonthefirstdayofclassandhaveallassignmentsdueonthelastdayofclass.

Tosetthetimetheassignmentsareavailableanddue,usetheHourfield,theMinutesfield,andtheAM/PMdropdownmenu.

2 WarmUpGame(calledSkillBuilderGames)arequick,fast-pacedwarm-up

gamesthatactivatebackgroundknowledgeandcanbesettoenabledordisabled.Ifenabled,youcansetittoMustbeattempted(whichmeansthe

studentcannavigatetothenextactivityafterstartingthegame),Mustbecompleted(thestudentmustcompletetheentireactivityinordertoaccessthenextactivity,orCanbeskippedcompletely(Activityisavailableforstudentbutstudentsdonothavetoengagewithitatall.Itallowsforfreenavigationthroughtheassignmentchain).

3 HereyoucanalsoenableordisableyourCheckIns.ACheckInisashort

diagnosticquizthatwilltestyourstudents’knowledgeofthecontentintheassignment’sLearningLoops.Iftheyhavealreadymasteredthecontentinthe

CheckIntheywillbeabletoskiponeormoreoftheLearningLoops.ThepercentagecorrectinordertoskipthenextLearningLoopcanalsobemodified.Thesystemdefaultsto80%.

YoucanalsomarkthebasiccalculatorasAvailableorNotAvailable.

4 Preferencesforvideos:interactivevideoscanbeenabledordisabled.Ifenabled,youcanallowthestudenttoskipthemcompletelyoryoucanrequiretheconceptchecksthathelpthemchecktheirlearningandunderstandingofthevideos.

6 IntheExercisesSets,youcandeterminehowmanytimesyourstudentswillbe

abletoanswereachexercisetotrytogetitcorrect.Thiscanbesettoanynumberbetween1and5orsettoanunlimitednumberofattempts.Fortheclasstest,

youshouldonlyselectbetween1and5.

Scoringishowthefinalgradeiscalculated.Youcanchoosetoallowstudentstokeeptheirhighestorlastscore.

DuringtheExerciseSetthebasiccalculatorcanbeavailableornotavailable.

AndtheStep-by-Stephelpcanalsobesettoavailableornotavailable.Whenavailable,studentscanselecttheStep-by-StepbuttonontheirWhiteboards,whichwillprovidethemwithabasicstep-by-stepwalkthroughonhowtosolvetheexercise.IfthestudentusestheStep-by-Stepbutton,adifferentvariationofthesametypeofexercisewillbegiventothemaftertheyaredoneusingStep-by-Steptounderstandthepreviousexercise.

7 Quizzes&Tests

Settingtheavailableandduedatesforquizzesandtestsisonlyhelpfulifyouplanonhavingallyourquizzesandtestsavailableordueatthesametime.Forexample,ifyouplanonhavingallyourquizzesandtestsavailableonthefirstdayofclassanddueonthelastdayofclass.Datesforindividualassignmentsaresetonthe“Edit”tab.Tosetthetimethequizzesandtestsareavailable,usetheHourfield,theMinutesfield,andtheAM/PMdropdownmenu.

Thequizzesandtestscanbesetasonlineoroffline.Infutureversions,youwillbeableprintoutthequizzesortestsforyourstudentsoruseatestorquizyou’vecreated.

Youcansethowmanytimesastudentcanretakethetestorquizbyadjustingthenumberofanswerattempts.Thiscanbesettoanynumberbetween1and5orsettoanunlimitednumberofattempts.

Scoringdetermineshowthefinalgradeforthetestorquiziscalculated.Youcanchoosetoallowstudentstokeeptheirhighestscoreorkeepthelastscore.

TheAvailablecolumnliststhedatewhenstudentscanbeginworkingontheassignment.TheDuecolumnliststhedatewhentheassignmentisdue.

Usingthebuttonsontherightsideofthescreen,youmaymoveanddeleteanyassignments,quizzesortests.

Anyassignmentcanbedeleted(exceptforthePrerequisiteDiagnostic)byselectingthetrashicontotherightoftheduedateforthatassignment.Notethatanythingdeletedcannotberetrievedby“undoing”butcanbeaddedbackinusingthe“addassignment”button.Addingaquizortestwillnotbeworkingintheclasstest.

IntheStudentView,thestudentwillseetheassignmentsorderedfirstbytheirduedates,thenbytheiravailabledates,thenbytheorderyouplacethemin.

SelecteitherCANCELorSAVE.IfyouselectCANCEL,thepopupwillcloseandthisnewassignmentwillnotbecreated.SelectingSAVEwillsavetheassignmentandtakeyoutoanAssignmentEditoverlay.Ifyouchoseoneofyourowncategoriesandthatcategory'stypeisInstructorDefinedratherthanHomework,Quiz,orTest,thentheassignmentcanonlyincludecontentyouhaveuploaded.
