on behalf of the Mta, we congratulate all of the contractors of the 2015 Graduating Class of the Mta Small Business Mentoring Program (SBMP).
this remarkable achievement reflects the hard work and dedication that these businesses have shown over the last four years. in the classroom and in the field, the graduating SBMP contractors have succeeded in meeting the highest standards at the Mta, and they will go forth from this transformative program with the skills, the experience and the capacity to take on larger, more rewarding opportunities.
the Mta is committed to growing new York’s small businesses by offering a unique set of capacity-building mentoring programs. our programs offer a broad range of resources, including access to capital, bonding, training, in-the-field-mentoring and more, to help small businesses take the next step as an accomplished contractor for the Mta.
today’s graduates represent the best contractors that new York has to offer. with the experience of successful Mta projects, these businesses are in a better position to take on more exciting work at the Mta and beyond. we appreciate their steadfast dedication to completing the SBMP, and we look forward to working with them for years to come.
as we celebrate today’s Mta Small Business Mentoring Program (SBMP) graduates, we reflect upon the past four years and the many accomplishments that the Mta has shared with this distinguished group of construction contractors.
the firms here today have completed a wide range of comprehensive projects for the Mta, including subway station rehabilitations, bus depot renovations and critical storm recovery and resiliency projects. their achievements underscore the importance of the Mta’s program, not just for the success of the contractors themselves, but for the future of our city as a whole.
the SBMP 2015 Graduating Class represents a new generation of construction contractors: one that has grown through the experience, the training and the resources of the Mta. these firms have also met the Mta’s standards in their quality, their diligence and their work ethic, setting a standard for all graduating classes to follow.
on behalf of the Mta, we congratulate today’s graduates and look forward to their continued success. the future of new York’s transportation network will continue to greatly benefit from it.

2015 Graduation Ceremony
Graduations symbolize endings and beginnings.
they are robust moments when you can reflect on your accomplishments over the past several years as you learned, earned and grew as construction contractors. at the same time, they bring us to a new milestone in our professional and personal lives where we grow in new directions and create new opportunities.
Governor andrew M. Cuomo has set forth a new “opportunity agenda” for new York State and the obama administration’s focus on job creation. You are an important tool in that agenda. with the new knowledge, experience and relationships you have acquired through the Mta’s Small Business Mentoring Program, you are now equipped to build your business in the growing transportation market.
Your decision to join our program was not an easy one. it involved a commitment to the SBMP program requirements, the ability to take on new risks to your business and the energy and resources you applied to your efforts. on behalf of the Mta, your mentors and teachers and our entire Mta team, we congratulate you and applaud you for your accomplishments.
You make us all at the Mta very proud! You are our role models for the future of our industry.
today marks a historic day at the Mta and for each member of the 2015 Graduating Class of the Mta Small Business Mentoring Program (SBMP). as Chair of the Mta Diversity Committee, it’s my distinct pleasure to welcome you to this important event.
over the past four years, these hard working men and women have proven that they have what it takes to complete successful projects for the country’s largest transportation network. they’ve also grown their skills, their knowledge and their business capacity in the process. today, as graduates of the SBMP, these firms are in a better position to compete for and win projects in new York’s competitive transportation industry.
today’s graduating class has the honor of being the inaugural graduating class of the SBMP, and the quality of their work, dedication to the program and opportunities ahead of them set the standard for the graduating classes to follow. as much as they’ve learned from the Mta, the Mta has learned from them, and we hope to continue this learning process for years to come.
once again, we welcome you and thank you for your support of our program and for your support the 2015 Graduating Class of the SBMP.
Good construction contractors in the transportation industry are hard to come by. the 2015 Graduating Class of the Mta Small Business Mentoring Program is now ready to take their place among other construction contractors who serve our projects. You have grown by virtue of your own experiences, your hard work to incorporate better means and methods for your businesses and to ultimately set in place new relationships with complex transportation authorities like the Mta. this was no easy feat.
the Mta is comprised of six large operating agencies, all of which have different needs and unique ways of operating. our first class of SBMP graduates have spent four years working with several of these agencies and now you better understand how to bid successfully on new projects and complete them on time, on budget and safely according to Mta’s high operating standards.
although today, marks your graduation day from the SBMP tier 1 program. we hope you will continue in our tier 2 program or participate in the Small Business federal Program (SBfP). the opportunities are there to grow your company project-by-project with support both from the Mta as well as your newly acquired knowledge and experience. the Mta team is committed to building your success, and we look forward in the coming years to have you contribute to ours.
Congratulations on your accomplishments.
