News from the Visitors’ BureauHello Members! This is Barb Valenzuela, cub reporter for the Chamber Con-nection, with some updates from the Visitor’s Bureau.

Congratulations to Kathy! Long-time employee of almost 13 years in the Visi-tor’s Bureau; Kathy Anderson has retired as of April 30th, 2014. Kathy always had a bundle of knowledge to share with our visitors and fellow employees and it will be hard to replace her, she always had a way of connecting with any visitor who walked through our door. She also managed our gift shop and treated it like her own baby–she was very proud of it! Kathy says she’ll be dividing her retirement time between, working in her garden, training her beloved Salukis, and spending more time with her aging mother. We wish her all the best in her golden years.

In other news, the visitor’s numbers are really picking up from last quarter. A lot of folks are starting their vacations early or heading home from winter-ing in the southern states. Except for the occasional grump who has spent a couple hours too long on the highway; most of our visitors have a smile on their face. Many ask questions about where to go and what to do; we give them as much information as they need. To our members and merchants who have been very helpful in giving directions as well, we thank you!

The 2014-2015 Visitor Guides are in! Our beautiful guides are full of shopping, lodging, dining, services and recreation. It is a valuable tool to our visitors when they tour our hometown. Many of our businesses some of our guides delivered: if you feel you need a supply or re-supply, please give the Visitor’s Bureau a call and we can make arrangements to get some to you.

Until next publication, be safe and have fun in the summer sun!
