MSDWT Evaluator Brief
July 30, 2015
First Evaluation Meeting with Teachers Attached is a PowerPoint that may be used in the beginning of the year Teacher Evaluation Meetings.
Evaluators may add slides or information to the presentation to address unique circumstances within a
department or school.
Please note two important changes for 15-16
• Summative Evaluation Conferences are optional for teachers rated as Highly Effective or Effective (Conferences may be requested by the teacher)
• Comments on the Summative Evaluation (Finalization Worksheet in Standard for Success) are optional for teachers rated as Highly Effective or Effective
Please contact Dr. Milleman with questions.
Teacher Signature – Test Security Procedures & Expectations on SAFE SCHOOLS
All certified staff will be sent an additional course in SAFE SCHOOLS. This course will require the staff
member to review and acknowledge understanding of the District’s Test Security Procedures & Expectations.
Therefore, evaluators will not need to collect signature forms from teachers.
We will require completion of this course annually.
Accessing 2014-2015 Evaluations
When logging into Standard for Success, evaluators will notice that the program is set for the current (15-
16) school year.
If an evaluator must go back to the 14-15 school-year to complete a Finalization Worksheet for a teacher,
toggle back to the 14-15 year as shown below.
NEW IN STANDARD FOR SUCCESS – Ability to select a Performance Indicator Multiple
Times within the Same Observation
Standard for Success for 15-16 will now include a feature that many evaluators have requested. Evaluators
may now select the same Performance Indicator multiple times within a single observation.
When beginning an observation, the evaluator will see a toggle that is defaulted to Preliminary (mark multiple). As seen in the image below, when the evaluator clicks on a Performance Indicator in the desired
rating level, the Performance Indicator is placed in the script as a white box with a green or yellow border.
Selecting these Indicators will allow the teacher to see the level of performance perceived by the evaluator
throughout the observation. When in the Preliminary mode, the clicks of Indicators do not count in the
calculation of the average score for the Performance Indicator.
When the observation is complete (or at a location of the evaluator’s choice), the evaluator will move the toggle to the Final (mark once) mode. When in this mode, the Performance Indicator will be placed in the
script in the same manner as it was in the 14-15 school year. It will be a solid square, and the selection
will be calculated in the average score for the indicator.
If an evaluator wishes to alter or delete the Performance Indicator selections prior to sending the
observation to the teacher, it is important to click the “recalibrate” link in order for the circles in the
rubric and the scoring of the Performance Indicators to refresh and be accurate prior to saving and
sending.
The teacher will see the white and solid squares on the script when reviewing the observation.
INTASS Evaluator Level I Certification – Deadline Extended – IMPORTANT ADDITIONAL
INFORMATION
Attached to the email accompanying this Brief, are instructions to login for the first time or complete
the INTASS Level I Evaluator Certification.
Many MSDWT evaluators started the online training last year but did not complete all components.
Therefore, a certificate of completion awarding Professional Growth Points was not generated. The
time line to complete the training has been extended to August 25.
We encourage you to complete this training by August 25 for a few reasons:
1. All MSDWT evaluators will be required to complete this training this school year.
2. After September 1, the training will be available state-wide. When it goes live state-wide, the
evaluator must pass a minimum standard on the quizzes and assessments in order to receive
credit for completion.
3. Completing the certification will provide valuable consistency among our evaluators in
Washington Township.
More information will follow.
