What a business rule can do?

Limitations of Business Rules

-Business rules can only be applied on load of the form or on change of the form-Cannot be applied OnSave of the form

Real Time Workflow

-Nothing but a synchronous workflow.-Effects can be seen in real time-Can be configured to fire at Pre/Post operation phase-Real-time workflows cannot use wait conditions.-Can be converted to background workflow

Business Process Flow

-Enable the entity for business process flows-Streamlined experience in data entry-Can span multiple entities-Reduce the need of training for the user.They can let the process guide them. -A set of stages and steps that are displayed in a control at the top of the form.

-Each stage contains a group of steps-Each step represents a field where data can be entered-Advance to the next stage by using the Next Stage button-A step can be made required-Can be associated with security roles

Advantages

-Focus on getting the work done instead of focusing on the entity you are working with -We can have multiple business processes in one entity

Limitations

-Maximum 10 activated business processes per entity -Maximum of 30 stages per process-Maximum of 5 entities per process

Actions-Purely for developers-Create your own messages apart from the default create/update/delete/retrieve operation-Unlike other processes actions doesn't need to be associated with an entity-Input and Output arguments-Can be used in plugins,custom workflows and services

Quick Create Form-Create button in the navigation bar-+ New when creating a new record from a lookup or sub-grid.-Allow Quick Create option in entity properties-Cannnot add sections-Always have one section with three columns-Subgrids,web resources,iframes cannot be added.

Quick View Form-Can be added to other forms-View information about a related entity record-No need to navigate to an entity to see the information-The entity should have the lookup control of the target entity to add the quick view form

Autosave

-By default for all entity autosave is enabled-Autosave is enabled only after the first save of the record-Autosave occurs after each 30 seconds-The field that is currently in the edit mode is not included in the autosave

Precautions For Autosave

-Need to fire the plugins/workflows/scripts on specific changes instead of depending upon the save of any field

Images in forms -Certain system entities and all custom entities can have an image attribute.-Image fields can be added to custom entities but not to system entities-One field per entity-Have to set Primary Image as default Image in the entity definition

Inline editable subgrids

-Product subgrid on Opportunity, Quote, Order and Invoice are now inline editable.-For now it is not customizable-We cannot change the system view provided-If we want to change the view of the subgrid it overrides the inline editing capability
