1. Click on start button in task bar2. Select all programs 3. Select Microsoft office4. Click on Microsoft Office Word

Creating shortcut to MS-Word

1. Right click on desktop

2. Select new sub menu

3. Click on shortcut menu item

4. Click browse button’

5. Select c:\program files\microsoft office\office11\winword.exe and click ok

6. Click on next

7. Type shortcut as MS-Word

8. Click on finish button

Adding or Removing a Tool Bar1. Open MS-Word

2. Click on view menu

3. Select tool bars sub menu

4. Select a tool bar to add or cancel a tool bar to remove in check box menu items

Opening a New Document

1. Click on file menu

2. Click on new menu item

3. Click on blank document option in new document task pane

4. MS-Word file – Document

5. You can use new blank document button in standard tool bar to opening a new document

Saving a File1. Open word and type the text of

document or file

2. Click on file menu

3. Click on save menu item

4. Browse the location and create the new folder (optional) and type a file name and click on save button in save as dialog box.

File extension of word is .doc

Saving a Word File in Another Location

1. Click on file menu

2. Click on save as menu item

3. Browse the location and create the new folder (optional) and type a file name and click on save button in save as dialog box.

Save- Initial save location

Save As- Save the file to new location or

giving another file name

1. Open word

2. Click file menu

3. Click open menu item

4. Browse and select the file and click on open button in Open dialog box

Status Bar Elements1. Page - Indicates the page of text displayed on the screen

2. Sec - Indicates the section of text displayed on the screen

3. 1/1 - Indicates the number of pages from the beginning of the document to the displayed page and the total pages in the document.

4. At -Indicates the vertical position of the insertion point from the top margin of the page.

5. Ln - Indicates the virtual position of the insertion point from the top margin of the page.

6. Col -Indicates the virtual position of the insertion point from the top margin of the page.

Closing a File1. Click on file menu

2. Click on close menu item

3. You can use close button in menu bar

Exiting from Word1. Click on file menu

2. Click on exit menu item

3. You can use close button in title bar
