Behavior in bathroom:• Get in and out as quickly as possible• Use only two paper towels• Place paper towels and other trash in trash

can• Do NOT talk IN bathroom or while waiting

Behavior in hallways:• NO talking in hallways• Walk in a straight line when with class• Walk on right side• Do not stop in front of doors or other

BULLYING• Bullying is a serious problem. I will not tolerate

it.• Does not have to be physical violence – it can

be verbal, emotional, etc.• ANY instance of bullying is considered breaking

class and school rules and can be disciplined as such.

• Will be written on board and posted on website• Homework is due the next day unless stated

• Turn in homework as you come in the door in the correct spot for your Core.

• If you do not have your homework, fill out a “Missing Homework” slip and turn it in in place of your homework.

• When checking HW, if I discover you did not turn in your HW and did NOT turn in a “Missing HW” slip, you will lose one Dojo point.

Missing Work• 5 grade points off for every day that an assignment is

late.• If you have a lot (as determined by teacher) of missing

assignments, I may require you to come during lunch or after school to make up assignments.

• By Friday, if you have any assignments missing, you will NOT be able to go outside for Reward Time.

• Can check The SAS for assignments you have missing.

Class ProceduresWhy should you follow these

classroom procedures?

It will help keep our classroom safe, orderly, and

free from disruptions.

Class ProceduresHow do I enter the classroom? Come in QUIETLY. SIT in your seat. Check the BOARD for announcements

and warm-up. Begin your WORK.

Class ProceduresHow do I pack up? Wait for teacher’s permission. Clean up your desk area. Put up any classroom materials. Remain in seat until asked to line up.

Class ProceduresHow do I sit in my desk? Face forward. Both feet on floor in front of desk. No feet on other desks. Sit straight up. No slouching.

Class ProceduresHow do I leave my desk to … get a tissue? Sharpen pencil? Get a book? Etc. Raise hand and ask for permission. Take the most direct route to and from

destination. Do not disturb, talk to, look at, touch or otherwise

disturb other students when walking by. Return to seat and work as quickly as possible.

Class ProceduresHow do I ask a question? Raise hand and wait to be addressed. No

calling out. Ask politely. Please hold questions until after the first

five minutes of class.

Class ProceduresHow do I report bullying or a problem with another student? Do not announce to class. Tell teacher quietly and

discreetly. Write a statement – Who, What, When, Where,

Why, How? If an emergency (happening now), raise hand or

get teacher’s attention calmly and tell teacher immediately.

Class ProceduresHow do I get missing work from when I was absent? Check website for that day’s agenda and

assignments. Get worksheets/assignments from Weekly

Handouts folders at The SAS. Write “ABSENT on _(date)_” at top of

assignment. Place work in the Late or Missing Work basket.

Class ProceduresHow do I line up? Wait for teacher to dismiss your

group. Get in next place in line. No skipping. No lingering.

Class ProceduresHow do I walk down the hallway?

• No talking.• Always walk on right side.• Stay in line – one behind the other.• Keep hands, feet, etc. to self.• Walk like a normal human being.• When walking in line with class, stop at

“checkpoints” to wait for teacher signal to move on.• Do not look in/disturb other classes as you pass by.• Do not stop in front of a door or hallway.• Do not touch the walls or lockers.

Class ProceduresHow do I read independently? QUIET. Do not communicate with others. Eyes on BOOK. Get book out quickly and immediately. If out of books, raise hand and ask to get one from

classroom library.**If you are not reading diligently, you will be required

to copy all of or part of your book onto notebook paper in addition to other consequences as determined by teacher.**

Class ProceduresHow do I get a book from the Read 180 or Classroom Library? Ask permission if not in normal reading time. Go as quickly as possible to and from the bookcase. Do not crowd bookcase. Wait patiently. Do not talk at bookcase (including to those sitting

near). Spend no more than 2 MINUTES choosing a book.**If not following bookcase procedures, you can lose classroom

library privileges in addition other consequences as determined by teacher.**

Class ProceduresHow do I behave in the library?

• No talking.• Only use computers to search for books.• Take turns on computers.• Replace books in correct place on shelves.• Keep shelves neat.• To check out, bring your books and wait in line quietly.• Once you have checked out, sit and read quietly. Wait

for teacher’s signal to line up.

Afternoon Homeroom• Car riders will line up first:

• Will be dismissed on first bell• Line up at end of hall in quiet line to wait for car rider teacher

• Sit on bench outside• May get in your car when it pulls up to nearest spot.

Afternoon Homeroom• Bus riders:

• We will walk around the building in a straight line.

• You may talk once outside. • When we reach the pavement, you no longer have to walk in line.

• No running, horseplaying, etc.• Other classes may not be walking in a line, but we will.

Locker Procedures• Go to locker BEFORE coming to homeroom

in the morning. Do NOT be late to class.• In the morning, leave your book bag in

locker. Bring everything you need for the day.

• Go to locker on the way back from PAVs in the afternoon, BEFORE coming to my room.

• Make sure you do not leave HOMEWORK in your locker.

Locker Procedures• How to behave at lockers:oNo talking.oGo as quickly as you can. No loitering/hanging

out.oBe considerate of those around you and those

waiting.oWait patiently if your locker is blocked by others.

• If you do not behave or abuse your locker privileges, it CAN and WILL be taken away. Having a locker is a privilege.

Laptop Procedures: Homeroom• Always hang your laptop on your assigned hook

• Always plug your laptop in your assigned outlet• Do not jerk the cord out of outlets – could damage

cord or pull power strip off of the wall• Get your laptops first thing when you come in• Hang laptop bag on back of seat• Plug laptop in for charging EVERY day during

homeroom in the afternoon; (or charge at home)• Do not unplug anyone else's laptop• Try to keep cords neat and out of the isles so no

one trips

Laptop Procedures• You should only have your laptop out/open if you are using it for

an assignment• Do not download any games and/or inappropriate content• Take care of laptop – will be charged for missing/damaged

laptop, bag, or charger• Always carry it in bag and with both hands• ONLY laptop and laptop accessories in laptop bag• Don’t let anyone else use your laptop• If found on any site besides the one being used for an

assignment:o 1st time: -1 Dojo pointo 2nd time: 4 Square AND parent callo 3rd time: Lose laptop privileges for time determined by teacher

AND parent call• Laptops are meant to HELP you learn, not DISTRACT you from

learning

Classroom Jobs• Classroom jobs are meant to help our classroom

run smoothly and orderly.• Will be changed once a quarter• Paid 3 Rocket Dollars a week if job was done well• Can lose job if not doing it well and/or for bad

behavior• Must fill out job application

Classroom Job Descriptions• Calendar – (homeroom only) marks off each day and keeps calendar updated

with important events; changes date on board• Messenger – takes messages from Ms. Morrison to other teachers/staff as

needed• Teacher’s Helper – helps teacher with various tasks as needed (ex: hole-

punching, organizing papers, etc); keeps track of who is absent in class each day; helps students who were absent find absent work and explains

• Bathroom Monitor – needed: 1 boy and 1 girl per class; monitors bathroom behavior; calls students 4 at a time; reports problems to teacher

• Supply Manager – makes sure class supplies (such as highlighters and glue sticks, etc) are cared for and returned whenever used

• Class Cleaner – cleans classroom as needed (desks, sweeping, etc.); empties pencil sharpener as needed; Core 3 cleaners (need 2) will clean tables in lunch room

• Paper Passer – passes out handouts and collects work at teachers request• Computer Technician – helps with computer issues as needed; homeroom:

ensures laptops are plugged up correctly at end of day• Substitute – fills in when any other worker is absent
