Estates employees project demand of reorganization Excelsior Correspondent JAMMU, Mar 10: All J&K Estates Employees Association (Jammu province) has demand- ed reorganization of the depart- ment without any further delay. While projecting demands before the media, president of Estates Employees Association, Prem Singh Bawa said that they had been project- ing this demand since long. He said the department was estab- lished in 1968 and the cadre review was not held after 1973. There is need to go for reorga- nization of the department. He demanded that DPC of all categories with type test be conducted twice a year as per actual seniority list. For the last nine years, no DPC was conducted. Pawan Gupta on the spot instructed the officials of the department concerned to also construct the side drains. The MLA reiterated his commitment for development of the con- stituency as a model constituen- cy. Earlier, locals said that this road was blacktopped at the time of its execution during the tenure of than MLA Udhampur Late Lala Shiv Charan Gupta. Since then the road was never repaired and no blacktopping was done with the result that it was not possible to ply vehicles on it due to dilapidated condition of this road. As per police sources, on specific information, a team from Gangyal Police Station laid a naka at Model Town during the intervening night of March 9 and 10 and intercepted a motor- cycle bearing registration num- ber JKO2AF-2158, which was coming from Bari Brahmana towards Model town. On seeing police cops, the biker tried to escape, but the cops intercepted him after a brief chase. During checking, police recovered 15 grams of heroin valuing Rs 1.50 lakh from the possession of the biker and arrested him. The accused has been identi- fied as Ranjit Singh Choudhary alias Rinku, son of Jasbir Singh, a resident of Model Town, Gangyal. During questioning, the accused revealed that he had brought the consignment from Punjab for selling among the youth and ruining the society in and around Jammu City. Scores of activists of DFSS under the leadership of their president, Ashok Gupta, assem- bled here in Jammu City and raised slogans against the State police for harassing the innocent people of Kathua on the name of investigation. JAMMU, Mar 10:National Conference MinorityCell today expressed anguishand concern over exploitingthe miseries of displacedKashmiri Pandits, by accord-ing official patronage by thePDP-BJP dispensation toBollywood film-makers, quitein disregard to the sentimentsof the community.

"It is unacceptable and thecircular instructions issued bythe Relief Organisation,Migrants should be immedi-ately withdrawn and enquiryordered to find out circum-stances leading to issuance ofsuch an illogical official com-munication", a joint statementissued by the NC MinorityCell demanded.

The Minority Cell askedthe coalition dispensation todesist from playing with thesentiments of the displacedcommunity and focus on sort-ing out their problems.

Besides former MLC andPatron of the NC MinorityCell Vijay Bakaya, the jointsignatories to the statementincluded its President M KYogi, Chairman and formerMLC Bushan Lal Bhat and MrJatin Bhat, among others.

DFSS demands CBI probeinto Kathua rape case

JAMMU, Mar 10: DograFront & Shiv Sena (DFSS)today held a protest demandinga CBI probe into the rape andmurder of a minor girl inKathua.

Scores of activists of DFSSunder the leadership of theirpresident, Ashok Gupta, assem-bled here in Jammu City andraised slogans against the Statepolice for harassing the innocentpeople of Kathua on the name ofinvestigation.

While addressing the protes-tors, Gupta extends his supportto the demand of the agitatingpeople of Hiranagar seeking aCBI probe in the alleged murdercase so that the real culprit ispunished and the innocents arenot harassed and tortured. "CBI

is an independent andautonomous agency and onlyprobe through this agency couldrestore peace in Kathua andSamba districts", he added.

Gupta also demanded depor-tation of Rohingyas andBangladeshis from Jammu, stat-ing that they constituted a gravethreat to the Jammu's demogra-phy and national security. Heexpressed serious concern overthe settlement of Rohingyas andBangladeshis around vital Armyinstallations and said thereshould be a probe to find whosettled them there endangeringthe national security.
