Introduction to LMS: Learning Management Systems

What is meant by LMS?

Learning Management System, more realistic nature is “Course Management System”.

It is a centrally managed web servers offered by our Institution – King Khalid University.

In which we can manage our course or group of courses, files, student’s grade and so forth……

I. Getting Started:

Step 1 : Type the URL - http://lms.kku.edu.sa

Step 2: The following screen will appear

1. Enter your User name

2. Password

3. Click “Login”

Step 3 .The following screen will appear

1. You will find the Course Link -- Marked in red.

2. Click any one of the link enter in to your course.



II. HOME PAGE: Screen Shots



Continuation…..of Home page

Steps --- To create Page banner in Home Page.

1. From Home page, Click “Page Banner”

2. In Page banner content, insert image related to your course or according to your wish.

3. Click the option button “Use custom page banner”

4. Click “Submit” button.

5. Now you created Page banner in your Home page.

III. What to do in “Start Here”:

It is a place to welcome your students

Describe about your course, Course Plan, Course Instructor etc.,

Steps --- To Build the above mentioned

1. Go to “Build Content” and click “Item”.

2. Fill in the “Name” field ex. Welcome !

3. In “Text ” box , type some message that you want to convey Ex. (welcome message)

4. Attach file by Clicking “Browse my computer”

5. Select Date and Time Restrictions

ie., Display after & Display until

6. Click “Submit ”.

IV. Announcement:

Steps to create announcement

1.Click “ Announcement” tab

2.Click “Create Announcement”.

3. Type “Subject” & “Message”.

4. Click any one of Web Announcement options

Not Date Restricted

Date Restricted (“Date from” to “Date Until”)

E-mail announcement.

5.Submit.



From the following screen, you can find -- “Announcement” created.

V. Lectures:



Steps to upload Lectures:

1. Click the menu “Lectures” .

2. Click “Build Content” then click “Item”.

3. Fill the Content Information and Type Message in “Text”.

4. Click “Browse my computer” to attach file from your computer.

5. Select Date & Time Restrictions

6. Click “Submit ” button.

VI. Assignment:

Steps to Create Assignments :

1. Click the menu “Assignment”.

2. Then Click “Assessment” tabs then click “Assignment”.

3. Fill Assignment Information. ex. Name of Assignment and Provide Instructions about Assignment.

4. “Browse my computer” to attach file from your computer.

5. Provide possible points

6. Check mark “Make the assignment available” and assign number of attempts.

7. Mention the Assignment availability limit. ie., Display Date After - Date Until.

8. Mention Due Date.

9. Mark either“ Individual Assignment” or “Group Assignment”.

10. Click “Submit” button.
