Through these three Saints who are known as Archangels, Fr. Rexroat asked the children to remember five things about An- gels; they are real, that through Angels, God protects us, through angels, God teaches us, through angels, God guides us and through angels, God heals us. Fr. Rexroat reminded us that Saint Michael is the guardian and pro- tector of the Church, that Saint Gabriel was entrusted with the most important task of revealing to Mary that she will bear the Son of God and that Saint Raphael is known as the healer of the earth. Fr. Rexroat finished his homily by reminding us that this feast day is special to all of us since they go to the school titled “Holy Angels!” On Saturday we begin the month of October, which is filled with feast days for saints, Guardian Angels and Mary as Our Lady of the Rosary. During this time in our classrooms there will be many discussions about ‘guardian angels’ and much of our art work will be making angels. Our Guardian Angels watch over us and protect us. They help us to not be afraid, but to trust in God’s love. In the Hebrew language, the word angel means “messenger.” Angels bring God’s message of hope, especially in Autumn, as the earth grows cold and our days grow darker. Then with October being the Month of the Rosary, the classrooms spend their time immediately after lunch saying the rosary which gives them a feeling of peace throughout the rest of the day. When we pick up the rosary, it is as if Mary holds us by the hand and takes us to the throne of her Son in heaven, where we can see, through her eyes, His amazing light. The prayer we say the most when saying a rosary is the “Hail Mary”. We are echoing the words of an angel who spoke them first. The words of this beautiful prayer are ancient, and they came from holy peo- ple. When we pray them, we are joining our prayer to theirs. We ask God to help us pray the rosary with all our hearts, so that Mary’s loving care will lead us to His Son! During our harvest season here in Northern Michigan it is a great time to talk about our LBI dining services and how they use many local farms to purchase our food and then produce our lunches with the freshest products. The food is of the highest quality and the menu is designed to provide your children with consistent energy. When you are here for your lunch duty, please thank our LBI staff for all their efforts! In turn we thank you for your cooperation and time fulfilling your recess and lunch supervision. Since October is the “month of the Rosary” it is a great time to join our Parent Rosary Group which meets every Tuesday at 8:10am in the Holy Angels library. It is a wonderful, peaceful way to start out your day. All of Holy An- gels students are given the opportunity to write down their own prayer intentions, they are collected and read by the parents and then a full rosary is said for these “little angels” prayers. We also add any adult intentions too! Please come and join us for this special prayer time for parents. May you seek and feel your guardian angel always and especially on this these feast days where we celebrate angels! May God bless you for your kindness, love and partnership. Lunch Duty (Playground) Calendar

Sacrament of Reconciliation Preparation

Students in the second (2nd) grade prepare for and celebrate the Sacrament of Reconciliation. All par-

ish 2nd graders, together with at least one parent, come together on three Saturday mornings to learn

about the Sacrament of Reconciliation. The program depends heavily on parent participation both in

class and at home to complete each session. All sessions are held in our parish Family Center. Clas-

ses will be taught by Janet Troppman. Session dates are: * Oct. 1, 2016 (10-11:30 a.m.) * Oct. 22,

2016 (10-11:30 a.m.) * Nov. 5, 2016 (10-11:30 am) * Dec. 10, 2016 (Celebration of the Sacrament)

9:00-12:00 p.m.

Gladhander Work Bees - Join The Fun! Come join us for the 2016 Gladhander Work-Bees! You do NOT need to be artistic or creative to join in

the fun of transforming our school into one of most magical places From Sea to Shining Sea! We will

meet in the St. Fancis basement on the following evenings:

Wednesdays 6:00-9:00 and Thursdays 7:45-9:00

Last Call for Box Tops

Our Box Top Competition between Holy Angels, IC, and SEAS is really heating

up! Help Holy Angels win the Box Top Trophy and bragging rights by sending

in your Box Tops next week. The deadline is 8 a.m. on Thursday. GTACS

receives about $6,000 each year from the Box Tops people, which we spend on

things such as technology in the classroom, books and teacher supplies, and

playground equipment. It is amazing how the little rectangular pieces of card-

board can add up, 10 cents at a time. So don't let your Box Tops go out in the

TRASH -- bring them to the school office, and we will turn them into CASH!

Popcorn Day

This year we are bringing back “Popcorn Fridays”! We will have one bag of fresh popped corn for each

student at Holy Angels, Preschool through 2nd Grade! We ask for a donation of $0.50/student to cover

the minimal cost as well as funding extra classroom items needed for Preschool. Popcorn Fridays will

be on the first Friday of each month with the exception of Fridays during Lent. Our first Popcorn Friday

will be October 14th (Friday, October 7th is a Non-School day for Professional Development).
