Phonics- Yesterday we learned that ck and k make the same sound. Today you will learn when to use the ck at

the end of a word and when to use just the K.

1. Two tomatoes are on the table. Then Oliver bumps into the table, and two tomatoes fall off. How many

tomatoes are left on the table now?

2. There are four small marshmallows and two big marshmallows. How many marshmallows are there

Read a book of choice from MyOn, Tumble Books, or your own collection. Retell the story to a parent making

sure to identify the main idea and important details.

Learning Target: I can retell a story.

Writing/Science: Begin by having your child watch this short video on the needs of plants. Discuss with them

that a plant is a living thing and have certain needs to survive. Then your child will complete an opinion writing.

Have him/her write at least three sentences on their favorite plant and why it is their favorite. Remind

him/her that when writing an opinion, you can use phrases like “I like ______ because _______”. Also discuss

with your child how “because I like it” does not answer why.
