Mrs. Dames and Mrs. Rivera Welcome, parents! Slide 2 Our Goals To give our students the academic and social skills they need to progress to the next grade level. Slide 3 Uniforms We are a mandatory uniform school. Uniform should be worn every day. Spirit shirt may be worn on Fridays with uniform bottoms. Jeans are not allowed unless they are pre-approved by administration. Slide 4 Grading Scale GradeNumerical Value A90-100% B80-89% C70-79% D60-69% F50-59% Slide 5 Grading Scale Cont. Students receive grades for all subjects. Weekly grades are not only based on tests but also on class work and home learning. The effort number reflected on their report card is based on: participation, homework and work neatness. Slide 6 Dismissal Bus students, All-Stars and walkers are dismissed by Mrs. Rivera Parent pick-up students are dismissed by Mrs. Dames Slide 7 Parent Involvement We believe that parent/guardian involvement is a crucial part of a childs education. (Please check the Home Learning.) Ways in which parents can be involved (must be approved by the teacher/ principal): Chaperone a field trip Attend PTA meetings or student programs in the evening. (Please join PTA for only $10.00) Donate needed school supplies: Copy Paper & Dry-erase markers Slide 8 Parent Involvement Parent Pin / Student ID Bookmark Become a Volunteer! Only online Media Center opens on Wednesdays from 2:30 P.M. to 6:00 P.M. Please give your child a bottle with water every day. (Recommended) Please make sure that your child brings his/her bookbag with all the homework and supplies. Sharpened 5 pencils at home every day. Slide 9 Class Subjects The subjects we cover during fourth grade are: Math, Science and Spanish (Mrs. Rivera) Reading, Language Arts/ Writing & Social studies (Mrs. Dames) Slide 10 Home-Learning Reinforce prior lessons. Students must read 30 minutes. Parent involvement. (Please check homework daily.) Students are responsible for completing and turning in their assignments on time. Students should copy their homework on their agenda and place their practice book pages, worksheets, or notebooks in their bookbag. Students must show their work in Math to receive credit. They should also write down their names on their assignments at home to receive credit. Sharpen coloring pencils at home. (No Mechanical pencils in school) Slide 11 Expectations WE EXPECT STUDENTS TO Arrive on time (Attendance taken at 8:35 AM.) Come into class and copy their home learning off the board. Then they have to place the new homework in their bookbag. Take out homework from prior day. Students should give us any notes from parents in the morning. (Dismissal letters, Sick Notes) Students need to turn in doctors notes or sick notes within 3 days. (Notes for leaving early.) (Zero policies) Follow all the rules and directions inside and outside the classrooms. (Cafeteria Rules) Slide 12 Technology Resources through MDCPS Student Portal Slide 13 Websites, Usernames and Passwords Slide 14 Florida Standards Assessments Tests are on grade level in Reading, Writing and Mathematics All students will participate Given in the Spring Timed Tests Reading and Math will be computer based (begin practicing keyboarding visit student portal) Slide 15 Parents, Please Remember to Sign Sign-in Sheet Open House Title 1 Annual Meeting Sign-in Sheet Complete and Turn in Survey.
