Weekly Story: Polar Bears Past Bedtime by Mary Pope Osborne Homework **PLEASE REMEMBER THAT THIS WEEK’S HOMEWORK INCLUDES 20 MINUTES OF READ- ING AND 3 MINUTES OF MATH FACTS PRACTICE MONDAY-THURSDAY. BOTH READING AND MATH TIMES SHOULD BE LOGGED AND THE LOG SHEET TURNED IN ON FRIDAY, January 9 Monday - Planning Day— No School for Students Tuesday - Read, discuss and sign Behavior Sheet, Sheet 46/47— Both sides, Fluency sheet (can count towards time required for reading logs). Read Goldilocks and the Three Bears book and complete question sheet (can count towards time required for reading logs). Return book and sheet on Friday. Wednesday - Behavior Sheet due, Sheet 48/49— Both sides, Weekly Fluency (can count towards Reading Log minutes), Read- ing/Math Log, Thursday - Fluency sheet (can count towards Reading Log minutes), Reading/Math log. Study for spelling test Friday - Have a wonderful weekend! Attached is an informational sheet about a reading incentive program for all second grade students. The program will take place during the month of January. Please continue to have your child read every night. It is important that you child reads in a distraction free area (no technology) so that he/she can continue to build reading stamina that is required for success in second grade. Students will be learning about fairy tales and fables Students will continue to work on two syllable words for spelling. Writing skills addressed include collabora- tive informational tasks. Students will continue problem solving activities using 2-digit numbers, work on telling time and review number lines and balanced equations. Students will also work on adding up to four two digit numbers In science, students will learn about habitats and life cycles.
