INTRODUCCIÓN
• La radiocirugía estereotáctica intracraneal se apoya fundamentalmente en imágenes de resonancia magnética, sobretodo en la detección y delimitación de lesiones tumorales.
• Las imágenes de resonancia magnética presentan distorsiones que deben ser evaluadas para convalidar su uso en la radiocirugía, donde la precisión es del orden de 0.3 a 0.5 mm.
• Estas distorsiones tienen su origen en la falta de calibración del equipo de resonancia magnética y en gradientes de campo magnético local debidos a la heterogeneidad de tejidos en el paciente.

Conclusiones
• El método desarrollado permite la evaluación in situ de la distorsión generada por el paciente, la cual es dependiente de la fijación del paciente al equipo de resonancia magnética.
• La magnitud de la distorsión se correlaciona con la intensidad de campo magnético.
• Dado que la distorsión depende de la posición del paciente respecto al campo magnético del equipo de resonancia, sólo puede determinarse durante el procedimiento de radiocirugía, alertando sobre zonas de riesgo en el tratamiento.
