Summer Reading Program “Get the Scoop on Reading”

Dear Parents and Students: 

We encourage students to continue reading over the summer and have established                       

a Summer Reading Program called “Get the Scoop on Reading.” The program will                         

run during the months of June, July, and August. Your                   

child’s participation is optional but highly encouraged.  

We are so proud of the gains that our students have                     

made this school year – this only happens through                 

excellent family support. For that, thank you!! We also                 

know that students are susceptible to a learning loss,                 

or a “summer slide,” if we don’t keep at it! One of the                         

best, and simplest, ways we can prevent this is by                   

encouraging students to read fun, engaging books. The               

Dover Public Library has a wonderful children’s             

department and will help you find books for your                 

child. 

Completion of Program: Students are encouraged to read 100 minutes for each                       

month (June, July, & August).  

 

Parents and students are on the “honor system” when signing to verify their                         

commitment at having achieved the reading goals. That form is on the reverse side                           

of this letter. These are due August 28, 2020. If you should lose the form – just                                 

create your own form to log the times. 

 

How will we recognize and reward students efforts in achieving the goal over                         

the summer? Students will be recognized at school and will also be invited to                           

attend an Ice Cream Sundae Party held in their honor!

Programa de lectura de verano "Obtenga información sobre la lectura"

Estimados padres y estudiantes: 

Alentamos a los estudiantes a continúe leyendo durante el verano y haya                       

establecido un programa de lectura de verano llamado "Obtenga la primicia sobre                       

la lectura". El programa se ejecutará durante los               

meses de junio, julio y agosto. La participación de su                   

hijo es opcional pero altamente alentada.  

Estamos muy orgullosos de los logros que nuestros               

estudiantes han logrado este año escolar; esto solo               

sucede a través del excelente apoyo familiar. Por eso,                 

gracias !! ¡También sabemos que los estudiantes son               

susceptibles a una pérdida de aprendizaje, o una "diapositiva de verano", si no lo                           

hacemos! Una de las mejores y más simples formas de prevenir esto es alentando a                             

los estudiantes a leer libros divertidos y atractivos. La Biblioteca Pública de Dover                         

tiene un maravilloso departamento para niños y lo ayudará a encontrar libros para                         

su hijo. 

Finalización del programa: Se alienta a los estudiantes a leer 100 minutos por mes                           

(junio, julio y agosto).  

 

Los padres y los estudiantes están en el "sistema de honor" cuando firman para                           

verificar su compromiso de haber alcanzado los objetivos de lectura. Esa forma                       

está en el reverso de esta carta. Estos vencen el 28 de agosto de 2020. Si pierde                                 

el formulario, simplemente cree su propio formulario para registrar los tiempos. 

 

¿Cómo reconoceremos y premiaremos los esfuerzos de los estudiantes para                   

lograr la meta durante el verano? ¡Los estudiantes serán reconocidos en la                       

escuela y también serán invitados a asistir a una fiesta de helado en su honor!
