PERSONAL STATEMENT I was appointed as a substantive Consultant Paediatric Trauma & Orthopaedic

Surgeon to the Norfolk & Norwich University Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust and

Ipswich Hospital Trust in August 2015. My practise is dedicated solely to the

treatment of orthopaedic manifestations in childhood and encompasses a broad

spectrum of condition affecting both the upper and lower extremities. My academic

interests include focused research relating to paediatric orthopaedics, patient related

outcomes, undergraduate teaching and postgraduate training of aspiring surgeons.

In preparing to become a Paediatric Orthopaedic Consultant, I was fortunate to spend

eighteen months as a travelling fellow at two internationally renowned centres of

excellence; The Children’s Hospital at Westmead, Sydney and Starship Children’s

Hospital, Auckland. On return to the UK, I undertook a further six months of

specialist foot & ankle training in adults and children.

As a consultant, it is my aim to deliver a high standard of care, with honesty, humility

and attention to detail, acting as my patients advocate. As a consultant colleague, I

recognise the tough challenges awaiting us all in an evolving health service, and do

my utmost to lead & support those around me, as we strive together to improve our

NHS. As a consultant surgeon, I hope to bring back the skills and experience I have

learnt overseas, for the benefit of my trainees, department and the patients & families

I am privileged to serve.
