    the benefits of develo%ment did not reach women and the develo%ment %lans failed to

    consider their welfare. 0he second %art has witnessed ma#or im%rovements in

    women=s health and education but the %ro,ress has been slow and uneven. India is no

    e;ce%tion to this. 0he declinin, se; ration female wor: %artici%ation rate and the li:e

    reveal the %oor status of Indian women. -fter inde%endence the ,overnment of India

    too: numerous measures to ensure ,ender e>ualit. Different %lans and %olicies as

    well as the constitution have laid stress on women em%owerment. 0he women=s

    em%owerment ear was launched in 2++1 with the conviction that em%owered women

    constitute a nation=s stren,th.

    the income s and levels of livin, of the rural %oor women and in enablin, them to

    u%lift their lifestle. 0his stud will also hel% to understand the factors which

    interview schedule was modified on the basis of the %re(test and data were collected
