The Process

First, you will be assigned to a family of 3 or 4 students, and together, you will be responsible for learning about pioneers moving to the west and fill out a K.W.L. worksheet.

• You will learn about them through examining specific web sites. Read with your group different articles on these web sites.

• See the assigned family roles.• Once you’ve have examined the roles given to you, you will

be given time to look over specific web sites for information needed for completing assigned tasks.

• You will then get together with your family and compile the family’s supplies needed for the trip. Please use the list sheet.

• Your final project will be to construct a covered wagon from supplies found in your classroom.

• Extra credit – If time allows look up these web sites for information on the Indians that the Anderson’s might have encountered along the way west!
