Plot:

Hana falls in love with a classmate named Hakujuji when she noticed him alone

in the classroom. When they get to know with each other, Hakujuji wants to tell

something to Hana and this secret reveals him that he is a werewolf and can transform

into a wolf. Hana was scared but still love him no matter who he is. He and Hana have

two werewolf children: a daughter, Yuki, and a year later a son, Ame. Soon after Ame's

birth, their father dies while hunting food for his children.Raising Yuki and Ame alone is

difficult; they constantly switch between their human and wolf forms, and Hana has to

hide them from the world. When she is visited by social workers concerned that the

children have not had vaccinations, Hana moves the family to the countryside away

from prying neighbors. She works hard to repair the dilapidated house and sustain the

family on their own crops.Several years later, Yuki begs her mother to let her go to

school like other children. Hana accepts on the condition that Yuki keeps her werewolf

nature secret. Though Yuki's classmates find her strange at first, she soon makes

friends. However, Ame is more interested in the forest, and takes lessons from an old

fox about survival in the wild.Yuki's class receives a new transfer student, Souhei, who

realizes something is strange about her. When he pursues her, Yuki transforms into a

wolf and accidentally injures him, leading to a meeting with his parents and teachers.

Souhei tells them a wolf attacked him, absolving Yuki of blame, and the two become

friends.Yuki and Ame fight over whether they are human or wolf. The next day, while

Yuki is at school, a fierce storm gathers and Ame disappears into the forest; Hana goes

after him. The other children are picked up from school by their parents, leaving Yuki

and Souhei alone. Yuki reveals her secret to him by transforming into a wolf. Souhei

tells her he already knew, and promises to keep her secret.As Hana searches the forest

for Ame, she slips and falls unconscious. Ame finds her and carries her to safety. She

awakens to see Ame transform into an adult wolf and run into the mountains. She

realises he has found his own path and accepts his goodbye. The next year, Yuki

leaves home to attend a dorm in junior high school. Hana always hear the howl of he

son Ame in the forest saying that he’s fine. Hana left in her home alone but she’s happy

that she was brave to take good care of her children and never give u with them and

now she is proud that her children are good hands that they find their happiness and

path.

Climax:

When Yuki is at school, a fierce storm gathers and Ame disappears into the

forest; Hana goes after him. The other children are picked up from school by their

parents, leaving Yuki and Souhei alone. Yuki reveals her secret to him by transforming

into a wolf. Souhei tells her he already knew, and promises to keep her secret.As Hana

searches the forest for Ame, she slips and falls unconscious. Ame finds her and carries

her to safety. She awakens to see Ame transform into an adult wolf and run into the

mountains.

Point of view:

The movie is a slice of life story concerning a family of a mother and father and

two children. The mother Hana is a college student who falls in love with a man named

Ookami. After fostering their relationship, Ookami reveals himself to be really a

Wolfman or Werewolf to Hana. Rather than running in the opposite direction, Hana

accepts Ookami's secret and they begin a family together. They story takes off with their

two children Yuki and Ame, both half human/wolf as well, as they live their lives and

grow up together. The story allows you to both connect with and grow with Yuki and

Ame as they discover what life has in store for them.The movie represents being

different, growing up, and how hiding it can ultimately destroy you until you finally

embrace who you are inside, whether those who know you would approve or not. It’s

about family, and choosing your destiny. It’s also about letting go, and how hard such

decisions can be made when you’ve set the goal in sight and think you’re prepared for

when it finally comes. Ame and Yuki too feel like what kids growing up should. They

play and get in trouble; they have two very different personalities that happy and moody

and they cherish the small things in life. They don’t need ipads, iphones or any of the

latest technology. They get to experience nature and see its wonders for theirselves .

Simply put it's about a mother raising two wolf children. It's one of those movies that

gives you a greater appreciation for your parents and what they went through to raise

you. It also gives some insight into what raising children is actually like, and to some

extent what owning a dog is like.

Characters:

Timid Ame – named after the rainy day on which he was born – is the exact opposite of his big sister. He is a timid boy who worries his mother by crying himself to sleep every night. He shows little interest in exploring his wolf heritage, refusing to stray too far from the safety of Hana. Gentle and thoughtful, Ame feels more at home in the human world than in the wild.

Yuki – the oldest of Hana’s children – was named for the snowy conditions under which she was born. She is an adventurous youngster who loves to explore her surroundings. She has an energetic nature and talent for making messes – characteristics of her wolf side – that often make life difficult for her poor mother. Yuki has the fearless spirit of a wolf, and she feels more at home in the wild than any human dwelling.

Hana - a college student whose life changes drastically the day she meets a handsome and mysterious stranger in one of her classes. She finds herself drawn to the man, who eventually trusts her enough to reveal his most guarded secret: he is a wolf man. Despite the differences between them, Hana and the man embark on a whirlwind romance that produces two beautiful wolf children. Hana proves to be a strong, courageous, nurturing mother willing to do anything it takes to build a better life for her children.

Hakujuj/Yuki’s Father - This loner drives a truck for a living, but he also enjoys sneaking into lectures at the local university. It is there he meets Hana, the woman who quickly becomes his everything. Descended from the now extinct Japanese wolf, he represents the very last of his kind. Wild, courageous and caring, he is fiercely protective of his beloved Hana – and the wolf cubs he fathers with her.

Sohei – This friend of yuki discovers the truth about yuki but still accepts her even though she is a wolf. I think he fell inlove with yuki that’s why he accepted her as she are.

Mr. Nirasaki – an oldman, a farmer who is always a negative thinker and mad but still helps Hana to pursue her farmland.

Settings:

School - where Hana and Hakujuji met.

Countyside – where Hana and her children transferred in this place to leave the city.

Plot:

At first Hana’s daughter Yuki narrates the story of her mother Hana, a Nineteen-year-old college student in National University of Tokyo, She noticed a guy taking notes in classroom that she never seen before. After class, she ran to reach the guy because this guy didn’t fill up the attendance slip and ask him to fill it up but he said he was not a student here. After how many days, she keep on thinking about the guy because she can’t see him in school but later the guy went to class and they get to know with each other. On a snowy day, Hana wait for Hakuju and when they met, Hakuju told the truth about his secret, he showed his transformation into a werewolf and yes he is a werewolf and can also be a human as well, Hana was shocked but accepts him who he is because she really felt deeply inloved with him and make love with him. After that, she got pregnant and Hakuju took good care of his wife while carrying their daughter in the womb, then she gave birth with her daughter and named her as Yuki, and a year later she gave birth with his second child, his son Ame. After Ame's birth, in the middle of the rainy day, her husband didn’t return and she ran outside to find him but suddenly he noticed the creek below and saw her husband dead, in a werewolf body and the garbage man throw him in the dump truck. Hana felt sorrow and grief of her husband’s death and promised him that she will took good care of their children. Hana raised Yuki and Ame alone and its really difficult but she stll manages to take care the two of them even though they always switch between their human and wolf forms, and Hana need to hide them from the world. When the social workers visited their house, they ask Hana to have her children a vaccination since they found out that the kids have not vaccinated yet but Hana didn’t permit them to go inside because they might harm the werewolf kids with the vaccination and found out that they are not human, they had moved to the countryside away from prying neighbors. She works hard to repair and clean the old and abandoned house and sustain the family on their own crops, she studied how to farm crops in their land and ask help from an oldman who is also a farmer, he is a negative person, at first he ignores hana, but still he helped hana in maintaining the farmland and had many harvests. After a year, Hana was talking with her neighbors who are also a mother, they said that she need to let her children to go to pre-school and Yuki have heard what they are talking about and pleased her mother to go to pre-school. At first Hana was worried and doesn’t permit what her daughter wants which is going to school but still decided to send her to school with a condition that Yuki will promise not to turn into wolf and not to show to other people who she really is. In school, Yuki was excited, she had friends but her classmates found out that something is strange about her because whenever they play, Yuki always scares her classmate in terms of catching animals, so they avoided Yuki. Yuki was sad that she needs to fit in with her classmates, so she asked her mom to make her a girly dress and change herself into a lady. However, Ame is more interested in the forest, and takes lessons from an old fox about survival in the wild.In Yuki’s class, the teacher introduced a transfer student named Souhei, he wanted to be friends with Yuki. He

always chase her but Yuki wants to avoid him, when he catched up with her Yuki transforms into a wolf and accidentally injures him, leading to a meeting with his parents and teachers. Souhei tells them a wolf attacked him, absolving Yuki of blame, and the two become friends. After the incident, in their house, Yuki asked Ame why he didn’t go to school, Ame said that he wants to be a wolf and live in the forest, so Yuki was really mad at him and ask him to fight with her that end up to wounded areas in their bodies.. The next day, while Yuki is at school, a fierce storm gathers and Ame disappears into the forest; Hana goes after him. The other children are picked up from school by their parents, leaving Yuki and Souhei alone. Yuki reveals her secret to him by transforming into a wolf. Souhei tells her he already knew, and promises to keep her secret. As Hana searches the forest for Ame, she slips and falls unconscious. Ame finds her and carries her to safety. She awakens to see Ame transform into an adult wolf and run into the mountains. She realized he has found his own path and be happy with his decision. Next year, Yuki chose to finish her studies and stay in a dorm in junior high school. Ame's wolf howls can be heard far and wide in the forest. Hana realizes that her two children was her inspiration and she was happy that the two of them has their own ways to live happily.

Climax:

The climax of the story is when a destructive storm gathers in their area, then Yuki’s class was suspended and wait to be picked up with her mother, together with souhei they remained in the school’s gym and wait for their fetchers. In the other hand, while the storm destructing their area, Ame wants to leave because the old fox, his friend died in the forest, he said to his mother that he needs to leave and go to the forest and continue his friend’s mission to take good care of the forest and mountains, when Ame left, Hana finds him, she went to the forest, there are instances that she was scared because she saw a wild bear but she hide in the trees and remain silent to be not heard by the bear. When she continues to find Ame, She slip in the mountain and fell, she became unconscious. In the other scene, while Yuki’s mother is finding Ame, Yuki and souhei were the one left in the school because other students were been fetched with their respective guardians. They hide in the classroom and Yuki wants to reveal her secret to Souhei. She revealed her secret to Souhei, she transformed into a wolf, Souhei was not shocked because he already knew that Yuki was a wolf, he already knew it when the time he was scratched by Yuki in the ears so he promised to keep her secret and Yuki was happy that he still accepts her as a friend. Getting back to the scene when Hana was unconscious, Hana dreamt of his husband, they hugged with each other and hana said to him she needs to find Ame. Since she was unconscious, Ame found her and carry her into the road.

Point of view:

Wolf Children is a very engaging story which in essence is a modern fairy-tale about a single mother called Hana who has been forced to raise her children without condemnation from society. Although Hana is human, she met Ookami at School who was a werewolf and as a result of their union, their children are werewolf which causes all sorts of challenges for the main protagonist of the film. Unfortunately this new family is left fatherless and it is up to Hana to raise Ame and Yuki on her own as they struggle to live both as humans and wolves.The best part of Wolf Children is how normal the story is and although the werewolf theme gives the story purpose, it is more about Hana as a young mother and her resilience in attempting to give her children the best and keep the memory of their father alive. It’s also great watching the children grow and learn to understand what it means to be werewolf human, especially as they learn new things about the world which is quite a joy to watch. There’s an inner beauty and warmth to Wolf Children that is quite rare in the majority of films today that will leave you with a very beautiful memory of not just this well animated film but one of the best stories that I’ve watched in quite some time. The most touching point of the story (for me personally) is Hana's maternal determination to raise Yuki and Ame to the best of her abilities in an environment where they could follow whatever path they chose. The struggles, the love, the work, and the determination demonstrated by Hana in this movie will leave such an impression on your heart that I wouldn't be surprised if you wanted to pick up the phone afterward and tell your own mother that you love and appreciate her. Hana is a very powerful character, not through her looks or being aggressive, but by her love and her self-sacrifice. These points add an emotional layer to an already great story.
