Zum Saisonstart am 30. April 2016 zeigt das Dresdner Kunstgewerbemuseum in Schloss Pillnitz unter dem Titel „Der eigene Antrieb – oder wie uns das Rad bewegt“ eine umfangreiche Ausstellung zu Design und Fahrradkultur.Die Schau präsentiert 200 Jahre Radgeschichte anhand historischer und aktueller Exponate, wie Velo­zipede, Designklassiker, Falträder, Mountainbikes und Rennräder. Auch der Entwicklung wichtiger Fahrradkomponenten und ­accessoires wie Leuchten, Sättel, Helme oder Trikots räumt Kuratorin Petra Schmidt breiten Raum ein. In Ausstellungsbereichen wie „Die Entdeckung der mechanischen Bewegung“, „Sportliche Bewegung“, „Gesellschaft in Bewegung“, „Emotional bewegend“ und „Moderne Mobilität“ geht sie der Entwicklung des Fahrrads nach. Digitale Inszenierungen und fahrbare Rad­Installationen verleihen der Schau zusätzlich Schwung. Ziel der Ausstellung ist es, das Fahrrad als kulturelle Errungenschaft stärker ins Bewusstsein der Besucher zu rücken und seine Rolle als nachhaltiges, zeitgemäßes Verkehrsmittel und Sportgerät zu beleuchten. Neben der Wissensvermittlung bietet die Ausstellung auch ein breites Rahmenprogramm, das Genuss, Bewegung und Engagement zu einem Gesamtkonzept verbindet. Geplant sind Aktivitäten wie etwa die „Pillnitzer Sommersonntage“ mit Führungen, Kinderworkshops und Street Food vom Lastenrad, eine Fahrradsammelaktion für Flüchtlinge sowie Vorträge und Ausfahrten.

Mit der Ausstellung >>>RENN<RAT>>> nimmt die Ostsächsische Spar­kasse Dresden auf ihrer Ausstellungsfläche <<<ZEIT>RAUM<<< Bezug auf die Ausstellung des Kunstgewerbemuseums in Pillnitz. Im Focus steht das Rennrad – historische Exponate, zeitgenös­sische Kunst und das Engagement der Sparkasse in Bezug auf den Radsport werden beleuchtet. Workshops und regelmäßige Führungen machen aus der Ausstellung eine runde Sache mit ordentlich Drive – denn Schnelligkeit, Nachhaltigkeit und Mobilität bestimmen unsere Zeit. Und wenn man zwischen beiden Stationen, Pillnitz und Dresden, ordentlich in die Pedale tritt, kann man beginnen, die Herausforderungen unserer Zeit zu bewältigen.

Begeben Sie sich auf die Reise ins ferne Indien mit der Sonder ausstellung im benachbarten Schlossmuseum, die sich dem Pillnitzer Gärtner Gustav Hermann Krumbiegel widmet, der im 19. Jahrhundert indische Palastgärten prachtvoll gestaltete. Mit dem Einzug der Sommerbepflanzung wird ab Juni die Sonderaus­stellung im Schlosspark fortgeführt: Mit Blütenskulpturen, Blumentreppen und einer Beetgestaltung in Anlehnung an histo­rische Teppichbeete aus der Zeit Krumbiegels ehren Schloss und Park Pillnitz den schon fast vergessenen, nun aber ganz neu entdeckten „Gärtner des Maharadschas“.

FAHRRADSAMMELSTELLE Wir sammeln funktionstüchtige Fahrräder und spenden diese an Flüchtlinge, die mittels Fahrrad ein Stück Selbstbestimmung wiedererlangen. Fahrräder können MO – FR von 10 – 18 Uhr bei der Betriebswache Pillnitz („Diensteingang“ beim Parkeingang Rundbogen an der Alten Wache) abgegeben werden.

As the season opening on 30 April 2016, the Dresden Museum of Decorative Arts in Pillnitz Palace is showing an exhibition on design and culture of the bicycle entitled “Self­propelled – or how the bicycle moves us”. The show is presenting two hundred years of bicycle history by means of historical and modern exhibits, including velocipedes, design classics, folding bikes, mountain bikes and racing cycles. Curator Petra Schmidt also devotes plenty of space to the development of important bi cycle com­ponents and accessories such as lights, saddles, helmets and cycle clothing. She traces the devel­opment of the bicycle in exhibition sections such as “The Discovery of Mechanical Movement”, “Movement in Sport”, “Society gets Moving”, “Emotionally Moving” and “Modern Mobility”. Digital scenarios and rideable bicycle installations help to kick the exhibition into top gear.The exhibition has the objective of making the visitor more intensely aware of the bicycle as a cultural achievement and of illustrating its role as a sustainable, contemporary means of trans­port and sport apparatus. Besides sharing knowledge, the exhibition also includes a wide­ranging background programme that combines enjoyment, movement and commitment into an overall concept. The planned activities include the “Pillnitz Sommer Sundays”, for instance, with guided tours, child­ren’s workshops and street food from the vending bike, a bicycle collection campaign for refugees, also lectures and bike trips.

And whoever climbs on the saddle and gets the pedals moving between the two venues, Pillnitz and Dresden, can make a great start in mastering current challenges.

THE GARDENER OF THE MAHARAJA. A SAXON ENCHANTS INDIAPALACE MUSEUM, NEW PALACE30.04. – 01.11.2016

Opening times: 10 a.m. – 6 p.m. (closed on Mondays) Take a trip to faraway India by visiting the special exhibition being held in the Schlossmuseum – the Palace Museum – next door; it is devoted to Gustav Hermann Krumbiegel, the Pillnitz garden­er, who designed exquisite Indian palace gardens in the nine­teenth century. The introduction of summer planting from June onwards marks the continuation of the special exhibition in the palace park. With sculptures of blossom, floral steps and flower beds inspired by historical broderie patterns from Krumbiegel’s era, the Pillnitz Palace and Park pays homage to the almost forgotten, but now newly discovered “Gardener of the Maharaja”.

BICYCLE COLLECTION POINT We are collecting functioning bicycles and shall donate them to refugees who can gain a portion of self­determination by owning a bicycle.Bicycles can be given in MON – FRI between 10 a.m. and 6 p.m. at the Security Office (Betriebswache) (“Diensteingang” – “Service Entrance”) near the archway park entrance at the Alte Wache).
