MOVING WITH EMOTION
WE ARE GOING TO BE EXPLORING HOW TO EXPRESS OUR
EMOTIONS THROUGH DANCE.
EVERYONE HAS EMOTIONS AND EMOTIONS ARE JUST
NORMAL.
DANCE MOVEMENTS ARE A WONDERFUL WAY TO DISPLAY
DIFFERENT EMOTIONS.
LET’S LOOK AT WHAT DANCE ELEMENTS HELP TO DISPLAY
EMOTIONS.
FIRST OF ALL, LET’S REMEMBER THE ELEMENTS OF DANCE CHOREOGRAPHY.

• YOU ARE GOING TO CREATE A DANCE THAT DESCRIBES EMOTIONS.
• YOU ARE TO DEMONSTRATE MORE THAN ONE EMOTION IN YOUR DANCE.
• YOU CAN DANCE SOLO, IN A DUO, OR IN A TRIO.
• YOU CHOOSE THE MUSIC, THE EMOTIONS AND THE CHOREOGRAPHY.
• LET’S LOOK AT SOME OF THE IMPORTANT ELEMENTS TO REMEMBER!
YOUR DANCE
• STARTING POSITION – REMEMBER TO HAVE A NEAT STARTING POSITION (FREEZE POSITION)
• YOUR MUSIC NEEDS TO GO FOR BETWEEN 60 SECONDS TO 90 SECONDS.
• YOU NEED TO SHOW REPETITION IN YOUR MOVEMENTS.
• YOU ALSO NEED TO INCLUDE CONTRASTS – FAST AND SLOW, MOVEMENT AND STILLNESS
• USE APPROPRIATE LEVELS – HIGH, MEDIUM AND LOW.
• DON’T FORGET TO USE FACIAL EXPRESSIONS.
• END POSITION – FREEZE AT THE END, THEN FACE THE AUDIENCE, MOVE YOUR FEET TOGETHER,
AND BOW.
