- they shall be familiar with the work re -lating to the installation of the product,

- they shall be qualified by reading andunderstanding the installation manualor by instruction and training,

Transport and Storage Observe the weight stated on the pack -age during transport and storage of theconductor rails. Always store the con-ductor rails on an even surface.

HInstallation of powerrail systemin internal plants only or inrain-protected outdoor plants.

Mounting of support brackets

The support brackets are required formounting the VKS hangers. Execution iseffected by the customer. It is possible touse HKV or AKL standard components orspecial constructions.

� Install the support brackets parallel andat right angles to the conductor rail

HPlease observe the suspen-sion distances in table (T1)and in the layout plan (S1).

Zawieszenie szynoprzewodu i ustawienie styku czo∏owego

� U∏o˝yç szynoprzewód prosto i rów-nolegle do toru dêwigu

HSzynoprzewód musi byç zamo-cowany na ka˝dym elemenciecz´Êciowym co najmniej jed-nym zawieszeniem.

� Zamocowaç zawieszenia do wspor-ników.

Zatrzaskowe zakoƒczenie (wyst´p) (1)ciàg∏ego odcinka szynoprzewodu przyumieszczeniu bocznym musi byç zaw -sze skierowane do góry (G1), zaÊ przyumieszczeniu wiszàcym – zawsze nazewnàtrz.

HDopilnowaç, by przy umiesz -czeniu bocznym wyst´p (2)szynoprzewodu by∏ zawszeskierowany do góry, zaÊ przyumieszczeniu wiszàcym –w dó∏ (G2).

� UmieÊciç szynoprzewód od przodu wzawieszeniu, nast´pnie zatrzasnàçgo (G1).

� Zamocowaç odcinek w przewidzia-nym zawieszeniu sta∏ym za pomocàklamry i Êruby (G2).

HKa˝dy odcinek musi mieç jednozawieszenie sta∏e. Odleg ∏oÊçmi´dzy dwoma zawies zeniamista∏ymi mo˝e wynosiç maks. 4 m (przy d∏ugoÊci odcinka do 4 m) lub maks. 6 m (przyd∏ugoÊci odcinka powy ̋ ej 4 m).Uwaga: d∏ugoÊç 6 m doograniczonego zakresu tem-peratur od 0 do +40 stopni C.

HPlace the first hanger at a dis-tance of max. 200 mm from theend of the powerail section.

Installation of the VKS conductorrail and splice joint adjustment

� Install the conductor rail straight andparallel to the machinery track.

HEach conductor rail segmentmust be installed with at leasttwo hangers.

� Attach the hanger to the supportbrackets.

The "clip pin" (1) for the continuous pow-erail web must always point upwards incase of lateral configuration (G1) or to theoutside in case of hanging configuration.

HMake sure that the web (2) ofthe powerail always points up-wards in case of lateral config-uration or to the outside incase of hanging configuration(G2).

� Push the conductor rail section fromthe front into the hanger and lock in-place (G1).

� Use the screw to bolt down the pow-erail section at the fixpoint hangers(G2).

HEach section must be providedwith fixpoint hangers. The dis-tance between two fixpointhangers may not exceed 4 m(for 4 m runs) or 6 m (in case ofruns longer than 4 m). Note: In case of 6 m sections arestricted temperature rangefrom 0 °C to +40 °C applies.

� Push the connecting pegs into thecopper conductors; they shouldevenly protrude 66 mm (G3 and G4).

HThe springs of the connecting-pegs must point towards therounding of the copper con-ductor profile (G3).

� Zsunàç oba elementy cz´Êciowe dosiebie. W tym celu na wolny koniecszynoprzewodu na∏o˝yç ochron´przed uderzeniem, nast´pnie za pomocà m∏otka dobiç elementy cz´Ê-ciowe na wymiar "A" (G6) (wed∏ug tabeli T3 dla d∏ugoÊci do 4 m i tabeliT4 dla d∏ugoÊci > 4 m).

S Risk of damage to the con-ductor rail! The assignment ofthe connecting pegs as shownwith (S3 and T2)

� Now also place this section from thefront into the suspension and engageit in there.

� Slide the joint cap onto this powerailsection (G5).

� Now push the two powerail sections to-gether G6. To do so, cover the powerailend with a hammering protection (e.g., apiece of soft wood) and drive the sectionsone into another by means of hammerblows until the adjusting dimension "A"(G6) is reached (according to table T3 for 4 m runs or table T4 for runs > 4 m).

HThe adjustment dimensions ac-cording to Table T3 and T4 mustonly be observed precisely if themax. temperature range stipulat-ed for each conductor rail is tobe expected.In the case of lower tempera-ture differences (T3 = 20 °C / T4 =15 °C), in order to simplifyinstallation, the copper con-ductors can be pushed togeth-er such that a closed copperjoint is created. The air gap onthe insulating housings adjustsitself automatically.

� Install the subsequent sections in thesame way.

HThe distance between hangersand the connector caps, feedterminals etc. must be at least50 mm so as not to obstructexpansion.

Short-lengths

We manufacture short-lengths accordingto customer`s specifications in our factory.If short-lengths still need to be adaptedon site, proceed as follows.

HThe copper conductors are anchored at the left side of thePVC housing (G6). Therefore al-ways make cut at the righthand side of a section.

� Use a wooden block to push the cop-per conductors on the right-handside until they are flush with the PVChousing (G7).

� Mark the section to be cut perpendi-cular (right angle) (G8).

� Use a fine tooth saw to cut the con-ductor rail (G9).

� To extend the leakage distance, cutslots into the PVC housing between theconductors using a hand hacksaw(depth 31 mm (G10)).

� Widen the slots to 3 mm using a file(G11).

Krótsze odcinki

Produkujemy krótsze odcinki na podsta-wie danych klienta. Je˝eli zachodzi pot -rzeba dopasowania d∏ugoÊci ju˝ na placubudowy, szynoprzewód nale˝y obrabiaçw nast´pujàcy sposób.

HLewa strona szynoprzewodów(G6) jest fabrycznie posze -rzona, by zapobiec przesuwa-niu si´ w obudowie z tworzywasztucznego. Dlatego nale˝yskracaç zawsze tylko prawàstron´.

� Przesunàç szyny pràdowe po prawejstronie za pomocà deski tak, byzrówna∏y si´ z obudowà izolacyjnà(G7).

� Zaznaczyç lini´ ci´cia na nowàd∏ugoÊç pod kàtem prostym (G8).

� Przeciàç szynoprzewód wzd∏u˝ zaz-naczonej linii (G9).

� W celu wyd∏u˝enia drogi pe∏zania nale˝y naciàç r´cznà pi∏à kab∏àkowàszczeliny na g∏´bokoÊç 31 mmmi´dzy fazami obudowy izolacyjnej(G10).

� Poszerzyç szczeliny pilnikiem do 3 mm (G11).

� Now push back the copper conduc-tor until it extends equally on bothsides of the PVC housing.

� Remove the burrs from the slots andfrom the ends faces of the shortenedcopper conductor.

Bending of the powerail

The curves are generally bent in our fac-tory. The minimum bending radius for in-ner and outer curves is R = 200 mm.For horizontal curves R = 400 mm.

End caps

The end caps terminate the conductorrail and prevent accidental contact.

� Push the end caps on the conductorrail ends (G12).

� Screw the end caps to the powerail(G13).

HThe extension beyond the firstor last hanger may not exceed 200 mm (G14).

Feed terminals

HThe line feed terminals aremounted as standard on apowerail section. The end feedis delivered without powerailsection.

� If at all possible, place the feed termi-nal in the proximity of the supply cable.

End feed VEKS

HThe VEKS end feed is deliv-ered as set of pieces that arenot assembled. Please find therelated separate installation in-formation in the terminal box.

HFollow the separate VEKSmounting instruction informa-tion and accordingly, first insertthe plug connectors into theconductor rails.

Zatyczka koƒcowa stanowi zakoƒczenieszynoprzewodu, chroniàce przed dot-kni´ciem.

�Za∏o˝yç zatyczki koƒcowe na koƒceszynoprzewodu (G12).

� Zatyczki koƒcowe szynoprzewoduzamocowaç Êrubami (G13).

Zasilania

HZasilanie czo∏owe VEKS jestdostarczane luzem jako poje-dyncze elementy. Oddzielnainstrukcja monta˝u znajdujesi´ w skrzynce przy∏àczenio -wej.

HZgodnie z oddzielnà instrukcjàmonta˝u VEKS nale˝y naj -pierw wsunàç ∏àczniki wtyko -we do szyn pràdowych.

� Push end feed box onto a powerrailend (G15), on the left or on the rightside) and fix the box by means of twobolts (G16).

� Strip and cut the individual wires asrequired.

� Install cable lugs to the single wiresand put connecting cable through thecable gland.

HThe cables are connected toterminal clamps.

� Tighten the cable gland to guaranteea sealing of the cable.

� Install the box cover with seal (G17).

Line feed VNS

� Open the cover of the preassembledline feed.

� Strip and cut the individual wires asrequired.

� Install cable lugs to the single wiresand put connecting cable through thecable gland.

� Bold the cable lugs, using the hexag-onal bolts (M10; M5), spring washersand hexagon nuts into the terminalstuds (G18).

HTorque in accordance toDIN VDE 0220 T2M 10 = 44 NmM 5 = 5 Nm.

� Tighten the cable gland to guaranteea sealing of the cable (G19).

� Place cover on to the terminal boxand close it (G20).

� Zamontowaç pokryw´ z uszczelkà(G17).

Zasilanie odcinkowe VNS

� Otworzyç pokryw´ zamontowanegozasilania odcinkowego.


� Na poszczególnych ˝y∏ach zamonto-waç koƒcówki kablowe i przeprowa -dziç kabel przy∏àczeniowy przezd∏awnic´.

� Zamocowaç koƒcówki kablowe Êru-bami z ∏bem szeÊciokàtnym (M10,M5), podk∏adkami spr´˝ynujàcymi i nakr´tkami szeÊciokàtnymi do zacis-ków (G18).

HMomenty dokrćania zgodnie z DIN VDE 0220 T2M 10 = 44 NmM 5 = 5 Nm..

� Dokrćiç d∏awnic´ kablowà na tyle,by nastàpi∏o uszczelnienie kablaprzy∏àczeniowego (G19).

Line feed VLS

� Remove the cover cap from the in-stalled line feed.

� Strip and cut the individual wires as re-quire.

� Install cable lugs to the single wires.

HAbove 100 Ampere, use twin-hole cable lugs (included in thedelivery scope).

� Insert connection bolts with spacersinto prepared conductor rail.

� Bolt the cable lugs, using the hexago-nal bolts (M6), spring washers, andhexagon nuts, onto the terminalstuds (G21).

HTorque M 6 = 7 NmCable entry left is standard, ca-ble entry right is also possible.

� Run the cable through the terminalcover at the predetermined breakingpoint.

HThe hole diameter is 11 mm.

� Place the cover cap over line feedterminals and watch wire routing(G22).

� Fasten the cover cap by means of thetwo screws (G23).

Current collector

Transfer guides

Transfer guides are used to transport ve-hicles, at switches and for spur lines.They separate powerail sections me-chanically and electrically. There are left-hand and right-hand versions available.The left or right side is identified lookingonto the contact surface; the powerailweb must point upwards. Transfer guidesin VKS sections are manufactured priorto delivery.

HAt each transfer guide, a fix-point hanger must prevent thepowerrail from expanding.

S Risk of damage to the cur-rent collectors and transferguides The air gap between the trans-fer guides must not exceed 5mm! The height and lateral mis-alignment of the opposedtransfer guide ends may not ex-ceed � 2 mm.

Transfer guide VU

� Slide the conductor rails into theplastic profile (G25) until a projectionof 15 mm results on the opposite end(G26).

� Shorten the conductor rails by 15 mm(G27).

� Push the isolating pieces onto theconductor rail ends (G28).

� Drive the conductor rails with ham-mer blows into the plastic profile(G29) until they are flush.

HAfter you have pushed theconductor rails back into theplastic profile, there must re-main a projection of approx. 6 mm on the other side (G30).

� Push the transfer guide onto themodified powerrail end. (G31).

� Fix the transfer guide using thescrews (G32).

Transfer funnels

Transfer funnels are supplied on a pow-erail section. The funnel can be mountedon the left or right hand side of pre-assembled VKS-powerail sections.

S Risk of damage of collectorsand transfer funnels!Restricted tolerances are validfor the collectors in the area of the funnels, i.e.15 mm max. horizontal and verticalmovement in each direction(KSFU 25 =10 mm) The max.speed is limited to 100 m/min.

� Push the transfer funnel onto the pre-pared section at the appropriate side.

� Use the fixing claw of the suspensionto fix the funnel to the section (G33).

HIt is possible to compensatefor the offset between transferfunnel and powerrail by meansof the slotted holes in the later-al fastener.

� Fix the complete assembly to therigid support brackets using the fourangle steels (see the chapter "Sup-port bracket installation") (G34).

HIf the transfer funnels arearranged opposite to each oth-er, the air gap must be suffi-cient to ensure that the currentcollectors can relieve.

Expansion sections

An expansion section is employed atbuilding or track expansion gaps. It canspan expansions of up to 50 mm.

� Mount the expansion section at thecentre of an expansion gap as de-scribed in the chapter "Hanging thepowerail and adjusting the connec-tion joint".

� Adjust the gap width "A", i.e., the ex-pansion gap

HThe gap width corresponds to the gap in the building or the track expansion gap.

� Limit the expansion section by twofixpoint hangers.

Conductor isolators

The powerail may be electrically separat-ed by installing conductor isolators.The installation in the VKS section is ef-fected at the factory.

HThe conductor isolators for 10 - 60 A, 120 A and 140 A are stamped correspondingly.

Kompensacyjny element cz´Êciowy jeststosowany w szczelinach dylatacyjnychbudynku wzgl. toru jezdnego. Maks. droga wyd∏u˝enia wynosi 50 mm.� Zamontowaç element kompensa -

cyjny, jak opisano w rozdz. "Zawiesze-nie szynoprzewodu i wykonaniepo∏àczeƒ", poÊrodku szczeliny dylata-cyjnej.

� Ustawiç wielkoÊç szczeliny "A" = droga wyd∏u˝enia.

HOtwór szczeliny odpowiadaprzy tym otworowi szczelinydylatacyjnej budynku lub torujezdnego.

� Ograniczyç obszar wyd∏u˝enia zapomocà dwóch zawieszeƒ sta∏ych.

Separatory szynowe

Separatory szynowe s∏u˝à do elektrycz-nego rozdzielenia szynoprzewodów.Monta˝ w elemencie cz´Êciowym VKSodbywa si´ fabrycznie.

Installation completion

On completion of the installation the system must be tested for functionality.

Commissioning

Conduct a test run after the installationhas been completed. The followingpoints must be observed here:- Make initial run at low speed,- The carbon brushes should run in the

conductor rail without vibration,- There should not be any sparking at the

carbon brush (indicates that the con-ductor surfaces are dirty, oxidized orhave burrs; clean contact surfaceand/or remove burrs).

- Take particular care to ensure smoothrun-in and run-out at transfer funnelsand transfer sections. Transfer funnelsmay only be used with current collec-tors designed for this purpose. Thesecurrent collectors are equipped withvertical and lateral adjustments.

Maintenance

B Before starting any mainte-nance work, comply with thesafety instructions on page 3.

Conductor rail

- Little maintenance is required at normalenvironment and operating conditions.

- Regular inspection for any externaldamage.

- Visual inspection every four weeks;note any expansions of the conductorsand burns.

- Remove carbon brush dust, particularlyfrom isolating sections.

- On transfer guides on switches, dropsections etc., the vertical misalignmentmay not exceed ±2 mm.

- The maximum air gap between the op-posite transfer guide ends may not ex-ceed 5 mm.

HIf possible, the values shouldbe kept lower to ensure thatthe current collectors will passacross the joints smoothly.

Zakoƒczenie monta˝u

Uruchomienie

szczotkach w´glowych (iskrzeniewskazuje na zabrudzenie lub utlenieniepowierzchni styku; nale˝y je oczyÊciç).

- Szczególnie przestrzegaç wlotu i wylo-tu na lejkach wprowadzajàcych i ele-mentach przejÊciowych. Przewidzianedo tego odbieraki pràdu wje˝d˝ajà dolejków wprowadzajàcych. Te odbierakipràdu sà wyposa˝one w wysokoÊciowei boczne mechanizmy aretowania.

Konserwacja

B Przed rozpocz´ciem konser-wacji zapoznaç si´ z instruk -cjami bezpieczeƒstwa na str. 3.

Szynoprzewód

- Niewielka konserwacja przy normal-nych warunkach otoczenia i obcià ̋ eniu.

- Regularnie kontrolowaç, czy w insta-lacji nie wyst´pujà uszkodzenia spowo-dowane przez czynniki zewn´trzne.

- Kontrola wzrokowa co 4 tygodnie,zwracaç uwag´ na wyd∏u˝enie szynpràdowych i nadpalenia.

- Usuwaç py∏ w´glowy, szczególnie naelementach przejÊciowych.

- Na elementach przejÊciowych, zwrotni-cach, hubach itp. maksymalne prze -suni´cie w pionie nie mo˝e przekroczyç62 mm.

- Maksymalna szczelina mi´dzy naprze-ciwleg∏ymi elementami przejÊciowymiwynosi 5 mm.

HAby odbieraki pràdu prze-suwa∏y si´ mo˝liwie g∏adko,nale˝y utrzymywaç te wiel -koÊci na jak najmniejszympoziomie.

Odbierak pràdu

Odbieraki pràdu kontrolowaç co dwamie siàce lub zgodnie z rzeczywistymi potrzebami lokalnymi.

a) Kontrola mechaniczna:kontrolowaç ruchliwoÊç przegubów,∏o˝ysk i sworzni obrotowych, wyszukaçew. uszkodzenia mechaniczne.

b) Kontrola elektrycznaZu˝ycie szczotek w´glowych, pewneosadzenie wszystkich Êrub stykowych i zamocowanie kabli.

Szczotki w´glowe nale˝y wymieniaç naczas tak, by oprawy szczotek nie mog∏yzetknàç si´ z zewn´trznymi kraw´dziamipokryw ∏àczàcych (patrz wymiar kontrolnyX (S11). Podczas monta˝u szczotekprzestrzegaç wysokoÊci resztkowej"RH" szczotki (patrz tabela T7.)

c) Kontrola styku:

Szczotk´ wyciàgnàç z szyny pràdowej zapomocà wagi spr´˝ynowej. Si∏a styku powinna wynosiç ok. 3,5 N na szczotk´dla typoszeregu KST 20, KST 25, KST2/40, KESR, KSF 25 i KDS 2/40, ok. 9 Nna szczotk´ dla typoszeregu KST 15 doKDSTLU 120, ok. 5 N na szczotk´ dla typoszeregu KST 30 - KSTU 55 i ok. 7 Ndla KESL 32-63 F (S).

Current collector

The current collectors must be checkedevery two months or in accordance withoperational requirements.

a) Mechanical check:Check the freedom of movement of thearticulated joints, bearings and pivots.Examine for mechanical damage.

b) Electrical check:Check for abrasion of the carbon brush-es as well as firm sealing of all contactscrews and cable connections.

The carbon brushes must be replacedearly enough to ensure that the carbonbrush holders will not come into contactwith the exterior edges of the joint caps(see the reference dimension X) (S11).Consider the required residual height"RH" when selecting the carbon brush tobe installed (see Table T7).

c) Contact pressure testing:

Pull the carbon brush out of the conduc-tor rail with a spring scale. The contactforce should be 3,5 N per carbon brushfor the series KST 20, KST 25, KST 2/40,KESR, KSF 25 and KDS 2/40, 9 N for theseries KST 15 to KDSTLU 120, 5 N forthe series KST 30- KSTU 55 and 7 N forthe series KESL 32-63 F (S).
