The electricalpower generated by the alternator is drained either in theform of an adjustable resistive charge or throughout the pu-blic network. The power consumed by the motor is measured using ananalogue wattmeter, voltmeter and ammeter. The voltage and current consumed by the motor are mea-sured using an analogue voltmeter and ammeter. On the alternator, the electrical quantities such as power, voltage and current supply are measured using a digitalwattmeter with three displays.A brushless torque sensor (requiring no maintenance) mea-sures the motor torque, whereas the tachometer generatormeasures the rotation speed. An analogue unit with threedisplays shows the torque, speed and useful power values.

POWDER BRAKE
POWDER BRAKE PRINCIPLEThe DC current injected into the brake coil creates a field which causes the ma-gnetic powder placed in the air gap to agglomerate. The braking torque is pro-portional to the field current alone; in particular it is independent of the speed ofrotation. Waste heat is eliminated by natural ventilation. A circuit breaker cutsthe field current in the event of the brake overheating. This brake is always mounted in balance so that it can be equipped with a staticsensor with a strain gauge. Additionally, it is delivered on guide rails (Ref ST10)with housings, couplings and screws.

The LOGYCAP system allows the user to save and display on a computer screenthe mechanical and electrical magnitudes of machine installations (asynchronousmotors, synchronous machines, single phase motors, DC machines).
LOGYCAP is composed of an interface connecting the motor test bench to a PC,and a program which displays these magnitudes in real time. During acquisition, the values recorded for voltage, current, absorbed power, torque, rotation speedand power output are displayed simultaneously as graphs and figures. With DCrotary machines, LOGYCAP recording in addition of the voltage, current andpower absorbed (inductor parameters).
At the end of the acquisition phase, LOGYCAP uses the recorded values to cal-culate and draw supplementary electrical and mechanical characteristics such asslip, efficiency output, active power, reactive power, power factor…LOGYCAP can be used with a torque simulator or a speed variator which permitsthe simulation of specific resistant torque type loads speed, square of the speed, constant torque functions
LOGYCAP is an accurate, fast, user-friendly and very easy to use new generationsupervision system.

DIGIWATT is a digital multimeter with floating inputs simultaneously displayingthe 3 electric values: voltage, current and power. DIGIWATT measures the TRMSeffective values of the U I W measurements, possibly with direct componentsuperimposed. The wide bandwidth of the apparatus allows measurements to bemade from DC to 70kHz or on chopped signals (frequency converters, industrialchoppers, rectified supplies etc.). The apparatus voltage and current inputs areinsulated between each other and relative to earth. DIGIWATT measures singlephase and balanced three phase powers.

• Constant torque: T = b The moment of the resisting torque is constant (conveyor belt, crane motor)
• Torque proportional to speed: T = an + b The moment of the torque is an affine function of speed(screw compressors, measuring pumps)
• Torque proportional to speed squared: T = an2 + b The moment depends on the speed squared (mixers, fans, centrifugal pumps)
• Torque inversely proportional to speed: T = a/n The product nT = constant, giving constant motor power(uncoilers, saws, machine tools)
• Oscillating torque: T = b or T = a + b Torque oscillates between two values according to time. The cycle frequency isadjustable from 0 to 200s and the cyclic ratio from 0% to 100%
THE FOLLOWING FEATURES ARE ON THE FRONT OF THE APPARATUS• Two potentiometers for adjusting parameters a and b• 6-position push-button selector: five types of torque plus a manual position• A LED display indicates which function has been selected• Two switches to adjust frequency and cyclic ratio (if oscillating torque is selected)• Potentiometer controlling manual braking• Switch to cut off the power supply to the brake at the "brake activation"
terminal. This switch does not cut off the output to the "braking signal copy"terminals, making it possible to adjust parameters a and b.
THE FOLLOWING FEATURES ARE ON THE REAR OF THE APPARATUS• 4 speed information inputs (0-5V and 10 – 20 – 60 V/ rpm) from the tacho-
metric dynamo • 0 – 20V "brake activation" output: connected directly to the brake • 0 – 5V "braking signal copy" output. On/Off switch.
MECASIM is a current generator designed to drive a powder brake control circuit, for the purpose of generating different types of brake torque.Motors used in industrial environments must resist various types of counter-torque:
• constant torque (e.g. a motor connected to lifting equipment)• torque proportional to speed (e.g. feed screw)• torque proportional to speed squared (e.g. liquid mixing systems)• torque inversely proportional to speed (e.g. cutting tool on a lathe)
To simulate torque dependent on rotation speed, a tachometric dynamo connectedto the motor being tested transmits the speed information via a cable attached tothe rear of the MECASIM. The generator is capable of producing the 5 types oftorque described above. Parameters a and b are directly adjustable by means oftwo potentiometers on the front of the system.
Torque simulator Acquisition system
VISIREAL lets you record and display on a screen mechanical and electrical quan-tities from the rotating machines (asynchronous motors, synchronous machines,single-phase motors and DC machines).
VISIREAL is an interface that connects the motor test bench to a PC via a measu-ring bay composed of at least GRANMECA and DIGIWATT (see all the arrange-ments possible on the next page).
The LOGIREAL software delivered with VISIREAL lets one display these quantitiesin real time. During acquisition, the values for voltage, current, power consumed, torque, rotation speed and useful power are shown both as curvesand as numeric displays.
After acquisition, VISIREAL uses the recorded values to calculate and trace addi-tional mechanical and electrical characteristics, such as slip, efficiency, activepower, reactive power, the power factor, and so on.
