Diane Berry didn’t just produce another brilliant kitchen – it turned out to be an award winner

When Kate, Conrad and Ziva Jacobson chose Diane Berry to create their perfect kitchen, they were confident she and the team would do a great job. What they couldn’t have predicted was that it would be an award winner! The family wanted a total house renovation but they didn’t want to lose the character of their detached Victorian property in Didsbury. Part of the plan was to take the three storey house and converted it into two living spaces – one for them and the ground floor for Kate’s mother, who had read about Diane Berry.

As well as Kate’s mum, the Jacobsons were also advised to contact Diane by a couple who had had a successful eco-renovation in Chorley.‘It was a natural choice’ says Kate. ‘Diane listened to everything we had to say.’

The brief was to design a kitchen where they could cook and socialise with friends but it also had to have that wow factor. They weren’t disappointed. The end result was a chic and contemporary living space. As well as impact, it has everything you need for some great cooking – including induction hob, drinks station and steam oven.

The family are extremely happy with this stunning space and it fits their lifestyle perfectly. The judges at the Northern Design Awards agreed, presenting Diane with one of the top prizes at their glittering Manchester awards ceremony. The judges concluded: ‘Clean lines, a warm colour palette, contemporary finishes, mixed with the homes traditional features make this living space the perfect hub. The space suits the family’s lifestyle perfectly, they love it and everyone that goes in there loves it too.’

It just goes to show that you should always listen to your mother. ■
