This feast calls us to focus on two manifestations of the Body of Christ: The Holy Eucharist and the Church. The primary purpose of this feast is to focus our attention on the Eucharist. The opening prayer at Mass calls our attention to Jesus' suffering and death and our worship of Him, especially in the Eucharist. At every Mass our attention is called to the Eucharist and the Real Presence of Christ in it. The secondary focus of this feast is upon the Body of Christ as it is present in the Church. The Church is called the Body of Christ because of the intimate communion which Jesus shares with his disciples. He expresses this in the gospels by using the metaphor of a body in which He is the head. This image helps keep in focus both the unity and the diversity of the Church. Have a blessed week.......... As we now move forward in hope as a Family of Faith in Jesus Christ, this weekend brings us to reflect on His Most Holy Body and Blood. Communion Calls

Page 3: MostHoly Body and Blood

Our Lady of Peace has a Legion of Mary praesidium. We wear many "hats", including praying the Rosary,

sending cards, and making telephone calls with visitations to our community members who range from shut-ins to

gregarious souls who love to talk!

We will be speaking at Masses on the Weekend of June 12-13, 2021 and will be available after each Mass celebration to talk with you about our Ministry. Sacramentals will be available.

Coinsider joining us in all the good we can do together. We look forward to meeting you!

We are beginning our relaxed safety protocols at our Church this weekend. Thanks so much for your

continued patience and support as we move forward together. Below are the relaxed protocols that we,

together have put in place.

- Masks are no longer required for those fully vaccinated (defined as 2 weeks after your last vaccine

shot). By all means, continuing wearing a mask if you feel more comfortable doing so. Per the Diocese:

“Those who are unvaccinated or at risk, please consider continuing to wear a face covering.”

- The hymnals and Mass cards are back in the pews! Please use them as you normally would.

- The church will be open during the day from 7:30 a.m. until 6:00 p.m. Enter and exit from the middle set of double doors. We will have a chair and kneeler near the back of the church along with some

sanitizing wipes. We ask that you sanitize the chair and kneeler before you leave.

- We will resume the reception of Communion by processing up the center aisle. Please allow

sufficient spacing between each person.

- Because we have ample room, we will continue to use the “every other pew” configuration in church for

the time being.

- Offertory will not be reinstated yet because we do not have enough ushers to coordinate it.

The Ursuline Sisters of Cleveland taught and served at Our Lady of Peace Parish and School from its inception

in 1919—first teaching catechism to students. Then, when the school was built and opened in 1923 in its

parish school. Below is, one from Sister Francis Borgia regarding her time at Our Lady of Peace Parish School.

Sister Francis Borgia, O.S.U

I really enjoyed teaching at Our Lady of Peace in the 70s because the children were all so good and eager to learn.

In September 1977 I got transferred to St. Timothy School. During that school year Msgr. Bachman died. The principal was changed, and the other nuns were transferred.

I was only one year at St. Timothy’s, and then I was transferred back to OLP. I was the only nun there then that

the people knew. I felt especially privileged.
