We can’t tell you just how long Jo has volunteered here. But whenever we’ve asked, she almost always says “Yes!” We’d like to share this list of Jo’s achievements in her long and active life: she’s a Registered Nurse and was employed for 30 years at Providence Hospital, part-time for 20 years at the Nursing Station at New Departure, and 13 years (and still counting) at Firelands Regional Medical Center on a part-time/as needed basis. Staying physically fit has always been extremely important to Jo. She runs, swims, and rides a bike for exercise…all which helped prepare her for the triathlons. Jo proudly displays her many trophies from participating in many, many triathlons over the years. She was a member of Team USA for ten years. She has traveled all over the world…New Zealand, France, Italy, Mexico, Spain, Australia, and Canada! She is also an active member of Firelands Area Runners. In March, Jo will celebrate her birthday – 81 years young! She told us she had two important goals in her life: To be married for 50 years (She and her late husband, Jim, actually celebrated 58 years) Her other goal was to still be working at age 80. She still is, “as-needed”, and that is frequently. Jo is very proud of her 3 children: Jeff (a doctor) resides in Dublin with his wife and son; Colleen (a teacher), her husband and 2 sons in California; and Mike (a social worker) in sunny Florida. At present, Jo is a patron with the Firelands Symphony and the Lange Trust. Her first love has always been theatre so she continues to volunteer here at the State. Her interests also include the Harlequin Theatre, Huron Playhouse, and theaters in Cleveland and Port Clinton. She’s seen many wonderful shows here, most recently The Texas Tenors which she said was absolutely delightful! She loves volunteering here, mostly because she loves people! She’ll do most anything you ask of her – except sell popcorn and soda. Thanks Jo, for your many years of service here. And if you ask Jo her secret to a long, happy Life, she might reply, “Exercise, work hard, play harder, and enjoy what you do!”

2015 Annual Membership Program – EXPANDED & IMPROVED!

Organized Chaos Music, LLC a boutique artist agency and Sandusky State Theatre’s own Assistant Technical Director,

Dan Hoke who is also the lead singer of the local band Eastern Rift, have partnered to bring a new singer/songwriter series that launches Saturday, February 27 at 8 PM in the State Room. The reception area is being transformed into the

Songwriter Lounge each fourth Friday of the month.

The series kicks off with Keaton Rood and headliner The Sojourner’s Song with artwork displayed by Keelie Suzann.

Featured musician Keaton Rood is an acoustic-leaning songwriter from Norwalk, Ohio, who comfortably blends intelligent

chord progressions with thoughtful faith lead lyrics and a soulful vocal delivery.

Headliner: The Sojourner's Song is a collective of musicians started by Jon & Julie Torrence. Having been together for twelve years, their voices blend organically and complement their jazz-influenced folk sound. Their repertoire ranges from jazz standards to contemporary music, from folk legends to original songs, all the while remaining driven by rhythmic intensity and emotional strength. At the heart of The Sojourner's Song is a love of art and storytelling, and this

is portrayed within their music.

Artwork will be on display by Keelie Suzann of Norwalk, Ohio, the director of Open Art Studio. The nature of her work varies from time to time, but it almost always involves an exploration of color relationships. Her inspiration comes from traveling, observing the natural world, and subtly interweaving psychological, social and mythological messages in her work. Keelie received her Masters of Arts in Cross-Cultural and International Education from Bowling Green State University. During this time she studied painting, sculpture, community-based art, African fashion, and a variety of dance

styles.

The Singer/Songwriter Lounge is driven to reach out to local and regional artist to showcase their music or display their artwork. It strives to create a nice relaxed atmosphere filled with displayed artwork and music in the coffee house type

setting.

Coffee will be available from Mr. Smith’s Coffee House locally owned and operated by Trent and Sara Beard located in

beautiful downtown at 104 Columbus Ave., Sandusky, Ohio. A cash bar will also be available.

General Admission tickets are $12 and can be purchased & printed online.
