Moscrop Secondary Student Bulletin moscrop.burnabyschools.ca burnabyschools.ca Friday, April 6, 2018 Day 1 Periods: 1 2 3 4

Teachers: please read this bulletin to your class first period WORD OF THE DAY: Insipid. Lacking flavor or zest; not tasty. Lacking qualities that excite, stimulate, or interest; dull. GOOD NEWS ATHLETE OF THE MONTH...MARCH - with the start of the Spring season, many teams were completing tryouts, participating in pre-season competitions, or even starting the regular season matches before Spring Break. In addition, the gymnastics team (from the Winter season) competed in the Provincial Championships here at Moscrop from March 8-10. For the month of March, two students were nominated for Athlete of the Month: congratulations Oliver Chen (Grade 9), and Michele Mai (Grade 11) for their nominations. Congratulations to Michele Mai for being awarded as the Athlete of the Month for March!! At the beginning of the season, Michele sprained her ankle. Instead of making excuses to miss practice, she did an hour of rehab exercises in the mat room every day after school for two straight weeks to get better. Michele was the first person to show up, last to leave when cleaning up, and the hardest working athlete on the team. When given a skill or drill to work on, she worked tirelessly on it, even fighting through the pain in her ankle. Michele recently added a handspring vault to her repertoire, a skill she was scared of but fought through to achieve. She made big improvements during the season, and earned 4th place at Zone Championships and 4th place out of 33 competitors at Provincials. Michele now needs to see Mr. Spracklin in the PE Office to claim her t-shirt, Sport Chek gift card, and have her photo taken for the awards cabinet in the foyer. GENERAL NEW! DO YOU WANT SOME EX-STRAW-ORDINARY BUBBLE TEA? Moscrop sleep tight will be selling milk tea and mango bubble tea in the foyer at lunch! Pre-orders will be April 9-13, and pick up will be on Tuesday, April 17. Bubble tea may also be sold that day.
