People spread their ideas of culture until new cultural elements are formed. This is one of the most primary ways culture evolves. Cultures have never been completely isolated from each other, diffusion has happened throughout history and continues today. Cultural Fusion: When multiple cultural elements merging together such as religions, songs, food, music, dance, movies, languages etc. Examples of blended cultures Examples of blended cultures Cultural Fusion: Religions • Rastafarianism developed in Jamaica in the 1930s among workingclass black people. • Cultural diffusion of peoples from India, Africa (Ethiopian emperor Haile Selassie 1 became Jah or God incarnate) and the Caribbean. • Fusion of Judaism & Christianity, taking the Bible as its sacred text but interprets it in an Afrocentric way in order to reverse what the Rastas see as changes made to the text by white powers. (Check out the book "The Holy Piby" if interested.) • Symbols/beliefs include dreadlocks (symbolic of the Lion of Judah and the Ethiopian flag), Ganja use, panAfrican colours, vegetarianism, avoidance of alcohol etc. • Not a highly organized religion; in fact some consider it more of a way of life • From Jamaica, the Rastafari movement spread around the globe, with the help of the huge popularity of its most famous member, Bob Marley. Born and raised in Barranquilla, she began performing in school, demonstrating Latin American, Arabic, and rock and roll influences and belly dancing abilities. Muzion is a Canadian rap group formed in 1996. The group is made up of rap artists of Haitian origin who lived in Villeray–SaintMichel– ParcExtension in Montreal
