Morton Youth Soccer Organization (MYSO) Fury General Information and Guidelines Purpose: MYSO Fury teams are designed to give players in the Morton Park District the opportunity to play soccer at a higher level than recreational, while minimizing the travel and expense associated with traditional club/travel soccer. Fury teams compete in the Intercommunity Soccer League (ICSL). Season: The MYSO Fury season is approximately 10 weeks in length. The fall season is mid-August through the end of October. The spring season is mid-March through Memorial Day in May. Each team is scheduled to play 7-11 games per season. Games are played on Friday nights or Saturday afternoons. Occasionally, games may be scheduled on Sunday afternoons. Games are played in Morton, East Peoria, Washington and Lincoln. Season for Travel Heavy Teams: In addition to the ICSL games, travel heavy teams will also participate in 2 tournaments in each of the" fall and spring seasons. The MYSO Fury Board will select the tournaments for all travel heavy teams. Eligibility: The following criteria must be met in order to try out for a Fury team. • The player must live in the Morton Park District or in Morton School District 709. • Players will be placed on teams according to the calendar year in which they were born. For the fall 2016 - spring 2017 seasons, players must be born between 2002-2008 but, regardless of year of birth, players cannot be above the eighth grade. For a complete age chart please go to www.usclubsoccer.org • The player must NOT currently be on another club/travel team. • Both boys and girls are eligible to tryout. General Information and Guidelines

Purpose: MYSO Fury teams are designed to give players in theMorton Park District the opportunity to play soccer at a higherlevel than recreational, while minimizing the travel and expenseassociated with traditional club/travel soccer. Fury teamscompete in the Intercommunity Soccer League (ICSL).

Try-Outs for non-Travel Heavy Teams: Separate tryouts takeplace for each season. Try-outs are held in May and/or June forfall Fury teams. Try-outs are held in December and/or Januaryfor the spring Fury teams. Try-out information is emailed outthrough the MYSO web site, posted on the home page of the website, www.myso.net and posted on the MYSO Facebook Page. Playersmaking the team in the fall are not guaranteed a spot in thespring. Every player must tryout again each new season.Players must attend a tryout to be considered for a Fury team.

Try-Outs Travel Heavy Teams: For the 2016 - 2017 season: Playerson fall travel heavy teams are not guaranteed a spot on thespring travel heavy team. Try-outs are held at the same time asother teams and outlined in the above section. Try-outinformation is emailed out through the MYSO web site, posted onthe home page of the web site, www.myso.net and posted on theMYSO Facebook Page.

Evaluation process: Evaluators are paid by the MYSO Fury Boardto run the try-outs. They are expected to run all playersthrough the same drills to evaluate their skill set. At theconclusion of try-outs, the MYSO Board, with input from theevaluators, will determine final rosters.

Roster size: When possible, coach input will be considered indetermining roster sizes but the MYSO Fury Board will make thefinal determination on all roster sizes for each age group.

Coaches: MYSO Fury coaches are all volunteers. MYSO Fury doesnot pay coaches. The MYSO Fury Board expects its coaches torepresent the community well. Inappropriate language, poorsportsmanship, etc. will not be tolerated. All coaches arerequired to abide by the ICSL coaches' code of conduct(signature required); see icsoccerleague.com to read the code ofconduct document.

Practices: MYSO Fury teams will practice 1-2 times per weekduring the season. Coaches are strongly discouraged from

practicing more than twice a week at any time.

Cost: MYSO Fury strives to keep the cost to participate as lowas possible. There are two fees. The registration fee assessedto each player covers:

• entering each team in the ICSL• registering each player with the IYSA (includes mandatory

insurance coverage provided by the IYSA)• tournament fees for travel heavy teams

The uniform fee covers the player's jersey(s) and practiceshirt.

Other items such as, but not limited to, cleats, shin guards,black shorts, black socks, a soccer ball, and all travelexpenses are the responsibility of the parents. The currentparticipant fee is posted each season when try-outs take place.Scholarships (except for travel heavy tournament fees) areavailable. There is no discount for families with multiplechildren in the program. All fees (travel heavy registrationfees are divided into 2 payment options) are due at the parentmeeting following tryouts. Fees must be paid prior topracticing with the team.

Playing t~e: Playing time is not guaranteed or equal. Boththe amount of time a player plays as well as the position atwhich he/she plays is at the discretion of the team coachingstaff.

Guest playing: MYSO Fury players can be carded to guest play onother club teams during the MYSO Fury season given the followingcriteria.

• The player's MYSO Fury coach is aware of it.• The player does not miss a Fury practice or game to guest

play.• The MYSO Fury Board approves it.

Parents: The MYSO Fury Board expects the following from theparents of Fury players.

• Have your players to practice on time. Regular attendanceis expected. It is nearly impossible to have an effectivepractice for only a handful of players.

• Please arrive at games 30 minutes early unless your child'scoach specifies otherwise.

• We understand conflicts arise. Communicate early and oftenwith your player's coach regarding absenteeism. If playersare repeatedly tardy and/or absent without notice, it is atthe discretion of the coach to enforce consequences suchas; not starting, significantly reduced playing time, andeventually dismissal from the team.

• Represent the community well by being positive from thesidelines during games; no belittling the referees, playersor coaches.

• Let the coaches do all the coaching.• Encourage your player to do his/her best at whatever

position the coach asks him/her to play each season.

Indoor Soccer: Any team playing indoor soccer during the winterseason is independent of the MYSO Fury organization. While theboard has no objection to these teams playing, MYSO does not putthese teams together or sponsor them financially. The MYSO FuryBoard requests that any group playing indoor soccer NOT use theFury name for its team.
