Morrow Home Community recently lost tworesidents and one friend who had strong ties with ourcaring community. Wally Kinyon, Nina Rhodenhizer, and Joe Larson were faithful members of The UnitedMethodist community. All three were well acquaintedwith our Christian organization, remained connectedwith the Morrow Home Community, and stronglysupported our ministries.
In the early 2000’s, Wally Kinyon moved into ourindependent apartments and his wife Eunice moved intoour nursing home. Mrs. Kinyon served on our Boardof Directors and was an Honorary Lifetime BoardMember. She passed away in 2004. Wally and Eunicelived lives of service. Wally was an Economist in theU.S. Department of Agriculture. Both Wally and Euniceserved 20 years as United Methodist missionaries inAfrica, and together they operated a KOA Campgroundin Kansas for 20 years. Wally was a simple man offew, but important, words. He passed away in ournursing home this April. He lived his life in service toChrist by showing his love.
Nina Rhodenhizer was a faithful volunteer andactive member of our Morrow Home Auxiliary formany years. Morrow Home was also privileged toprovide services for her husband Lawrence before hepassed away in 2003. She lived in our MaryCrestAssisted Living Apartments and Morrow MemorialNursing Home, where she passed away this April. Ninaattended every Auxiliary and Annual Morrow HomeBoard meeting. She served on our Board of Directorsand was an Honorary Lifetime Board Member. As notedat her funeral, she always had a smile and good wordfor everyone. By the way, she was also the SunshineChairman at the Sparta United Methodist Church andsent cards recognizing special occasions for over 50

years! Nina lived her life in service to Christ byshowing her love.
Joe Larson was always a strong advocate andsupporter of Morrow Home. Although I only met hima few times, Joe’s family continually kept me aware ofhis service in retirement. His granddaughter, JackieVaver, told me he read every “Messenger” to learn aboutMorrow Home and many of his childhood friends. Joewas a member of the Morrow Home Board ofDirectors and an Honorary Lifetime Board Member.People who knew Joe in his early and working yearsknow of his larger-than-life achievements. Joe passedaway in Arizona this past April. He certainlyaccomplished much and touched many people in the“dash” of his time on earth. Joe Larson too lived a lifein service to Christ by showing his love.
These three individuals lived lives in service to Christ-each for over 90 years. All had very supportivefamilies. The families of Wally Kinyon and NinaRhodenhizer told me the employees of Morrow HomeCommunity are like family. I believe Joe Larson wouldhave agreed. All three individuals experienced the loveof Christ through their service to God’s people. Thereis a song entitled, “They’llKnow We Are Christians ByOur Love.” Morrow HomeCommunity knows first handthe love of Christians such asWally, Nina, and Joe by theirlove of God and His Peoplehere. In Christ,Michael

“Called to Care”
On Valentine's Day, Morrow Home Community celebrated the coronation of the new Nursing Home King and Queen and the Assisted Living King and Queen. Biographies of the royalty were read to guests. Michael Bonello, Morrow Home Community Executive Director and Sparta’s 2012 Butterfest Festmaster, and Cyndi Wise, 2012 Lady Butterfest, did the honors of the coronation. A special thank you goes to Mary Morrow’s Attic for assisting with the cost of the flowers. The Culinary Department wowed everyone with delicious refreshments. Christine Vian and the rest of her Recreation Therapy Department organized this wonderful event with the help of Assisted Living Activities staff. Morrow Home Kings and
Queens retain their status as Royalty for the rest of their lives. A record number of 15 past Royalty were in attendance this year.
Morrow Home has been blessed with providing beauty shop care to our residents. Lana Zwiefel our beautician of many years has recently retired. Todd Ramlet presented
Lana with a certificate and a small gift as a token of our appreciation for her more than 37 years of service to the residents of Morrow Home Community. We are not
sure of the exact numbers, but it would be safe to say that Lana has done thousands of sets, cuts and perms over those many years.
Morrow Home Community serves as a tangible expression of God's lovethrough a continuum of long term care services to all who entrust us with their care.
We strive to enhance life by preserving the dignity, independence, and uniqueness of each individual while meeting their physical, social, and spiritual needs.
