Transcript of Morning Zeitgeist - November 2015
In line with the vision of Man Made Music, Morning
Zeitgeist is a continuation of the passion to find and share the most innovative, interesting and note-worthy happenings in the music
and tech worlds.
We hope you enjoy!
Levitating objects is no longer sci-fi talk. Scientists have discovered they are able to levitate and move objects with sound waves.
The sound waves operate at a high frequency that humans can’t hear – but your pet dog definitely
wouldn’t like it.

They found three types of acoustical fields: one grabs object like tweezers, one
traps objects and the other uses the “eye” of a
twirling technique to keep it in place.
This could have major impact in fields such as
medicine during operations.

Turns out our bodies are engaging with music on a deeper level than we thought – more than just tapping your toes to a
favorite song.
NYU researchers have found two brain waves that automatically sync to music you are listening to – to help you better understand the piece, similar to what
happens when you listen to a conversation.
Turns out musicians are better able to follow both melody and individual notes
in a way that’s more difficult for non-musicians.

Rivet, a 360-degree content creator, brings one-a-kind venues to
your living room. Currently the
performances are available on YouTube,
but later a free app will be available to search and view all content.
They recently teamed up with Blue Note Jazz club
in NYC, including branded Google
Cardboards, to tape the concerts. Could this be a new revenue stream for musicians who perform
live?

Wearables Go To the Skies

Taking wearables to the skies! European airliner EasyJet has just
announced new smart uniforms for its crew, designed by CuteCircuit
(normal outfitters of performers like Katy Perry and U2).
They’ll have microphones to allow direct communication to pilot and crew, lights that flash and can be used in an emergency, air quality
sensors and more.
“Our crew’s primary concern is for the safety of all passengers so it is really exciting to be working on this pioneering new technology which
could transform the capability of our uniforms.” – Tina Milton, Head of
Uniform
Thank You.
