Design is reminding people about issues that exist within the world.

Consumerism plays a huge role in how the world

operates. People are constantly purchasing

things that they can use in their day to day lives.

These things often cloud other things or events

that may exist within the world. Design can help

create simple reminders for these other things

and events. It may also help support whatever

the thing or event may be.

What Would You Do?The American society is a society of consumers that are more often then not purchasing products, buying into ideas, purchasing goods, or paying for services. The system that this comes from is a great system, but people frequently overlook other worldly issues that exist within and away from the US society.

What Would You Do?” is an 8x10 magazine ad that is meant to remind people of other issues in the world that they care about. It is also a call to action to donate and help some of the victims of the various problems that occur in our day to day lives.

The concept for the poster came out of thinking about people are constantly distracted by their needs and wants. The idea to use goods that they might have on the forefront of their minds was a great way to illustrate these wants and needs. Bringing out these objects in color was also important.

Utilizing different photographs of world issues and putting them behind the mans head in black and white is meant to portray the idea that these things are still existing within the world, even if they are in the back of a person's head.

Two different tag lines are also meant to grab the viewers attention. A final call to action statement is made asking the viewer of this ad to make a donation to an organization of their choice.

Design is a way of research and discovery.

In a culture where different programs and

media outlets are constantly being created, it

can be difficult to find the best forms of these

things to use. Posting a photo to Flickr, Twitter,

Facebook, Tumblr, Pinterest, and the many

other media outlets can become a hassle when

all of these outlets are disconnected from each

other. Research can help better facilitate a user

interaction that makes a process much more

user friendly.

Expedition Bound A User Interaction Infographic

Researching how users interact with a multitude of objects can help in understanding their processes. Through understanding these different processes, trends can be seen. Recognizing these trends can help narrow them down into one simple user interaction.

The Expedition Bound Infographic is based around researching a photographers process. This process involves how a photographer sorts, edits and uploads a set of images that he has shot. After the user has uploaded his photos to the web he may sell these photos or have to get them to his employers. The raindrops indicate the various file sharing outlets he can utilize to share with his freelance employers. The concept for this infographic came from thinking

about how things are sent up to the cloud to be shared with large audiences of people. Different wireframes were created for how the information could flow from one part to the next. From there several sketches were decided upon for each part of the infographic. The final result is an infographic that is based around circuitry and weather that carries information from the photographer's computer to their audience and employer's computers. The proposed solutions is to come up with one simple process that would make the this entire process less time consuming.

Design is making objects that can help people remember an event or organization.

People often like to support organizations

through purchasing materials and merchandise

that the organization might be selling.

Sometimes by purchasing these things the

person can be reminded of the event that they

went to. Designing objects and materials is

always a helpful way for people to show their

support for a company or organization, as well as

remember an event that they went to.

Denver CumulusDenver Cumulus is a conference that is going to be hosted at the Rocky Mountain College of Art and Design and the Hyatt Hotel in Denver from September 29, 2011–October 2, 2011. The Denver Cumulus Design Committee has been working hard on designing all of the materials for the conference. They offered me the chance to design shirts that could be sold at the conference along with a few other materials.

They briefed me telling me that their budget for the shirts is fairly small, and that they would like for the shirts to remain fairly simple. The shirts were to have the Denver Cumulus logo, and the RMCAD logo on them. Space for other sponsors of the event were to be placed on the back of the shirt at a later time.

One shirt had to be created for students to wear. The students wearing the shirts will help direct people attending the conference to the different places that they need to go. Since orange is easy to spot in a large group of people, the fact that it is the main color of RMCAD, and RMCAD students are helping out with the conference greatly, the student shirts will be orange.

These are few different layouts of the arrangements for the shirt design that the Denver Cumulus Design Committee will be deciding upon soon.

Design is creating products that improve user interactions.

Lots of products exist today that were created a

century ago. While the quality of these products

has been improved greatly, the user interaction

with some of them has not been looked at.

Creating more functional user interactions

that utilize the technology of today can greatly

improve products, and create for a more

sustainable future.

Sound Box Pro A New Guitar Amplifier

Sound Box Pro is product design idea that takes the functionality of a guitar amplifier into a more digital and software driven state. Currently guitar amplifiers are controlled by turning knobs on the amplifier itself. The effects pedals that come with amplifiers are also usually controlled by during knobs on the amplifier itself, or a pedal board that is located on the ground. This process of having to stop playing the guitar to physically turn a knob to change the sound that the amp produces is an interference.

Sound Box Pro would eliminate the difficult process of having to change the sound the amplifier via the use of hands. White the amplifiers head state would remain a vital part of the amplifier, two foot pedal boards on the ground could be used to change the sound of the amplifier without ever having to stop playing guitar. These two pedal boards would give full control over the sound of the amplifier.

prosoundbox prosoundbox

The new interface on the amplifier and pedals would be screen-based with minimal hardware attached to these screens. Having a screen-based amplifier and pedals would be more sustainable solution than coming out with new products that are costly to produce. Rather than coming out with new physical products ever year or two, the amplifiers software can be updated. This would create for less waste both in packaging and materials.

I am currently redesigning the book for this project, as well as thinking about the naming, branding, collateral, and other materials for it. I hope to push it to a point where I might be able to sell the idea to a guitar amplifier manufacturer.

The first pedal board that would control all of the amplifiers sound functions. This would also have a section to save and select certain amp presets.

The gray circles with the hexagons in them would be the hardware part of the pedal board. These would be pressed down by the guitar player's foot.

Photography Examples

I try to practice photography as much as I

possibly can. Producing images through a lens

is another great passion of mine. Here is an

assortment of photographs that I have taken.
