With the appropriate care and maintenance our bedroom doors, cabinets and components are designed to provide many years of reliable service. To help keep it in the best possible condition please follow the simple guidelines below.

INSTALLATION ADVICE

Pre-installation:Ensure that all new-builds or newly plastered rooms have been left to environmentally stabilise prior to the installation of new bedroom doors. Bedroom doors must not be installed into a damp, or moisture-rich environment as it will cause undesirable movement in the joints and panels of the door. A hygrometer should be used to assess conditions.

To help to minimise any potential damage to the bedroom whilst you are installing it, please read and adhere to the following instructions and recommendations.

• We would advise that you make an initial check to confirm that you have the correct quantity and sizes of fascias; you can do this by referring to the labels attached to the outer packaging.

• The fascias should be stored flat and away from the working area. Take extreme care when stacking the fascias with hinges attached to ensure that the hinges do not mark other fascias. Do not lean the fascias against one another, or against any surface without proper protection in-between.

• Ensure that you fully inspect each individual fascia prior to attaching the hinges. Claims for damage to the fascia will not be accepted after the hinges have been attached.

• Take extreme care when unpacking the fascias and do not use sharp blades to cut away the packaging.

• When attaching the hinges, place the fascia face down on a soft clean surface, ensuring that there is no grit, sawdust or other matter underneath than can damage the surface of the fascia whilst the hinges are attached. It is good practice to place a sheet of clean cardboard between the fascia and the flat surface prior to attaching the hinges.

• If the hinges are ‘knock-in’ type. Use a rubber mallet to knock the hinges into the fascia without using excessive force.

• Once the hinges have been attached to a door, hang the door on the unit straight away to avoid damage. Do not stack the doors with the hinges touching other doors, as this can causes scratches or marks to the other fascias.

• Do not stack the doors on their ends on any hard surface; this can cause chipping and scratching along the edge of the fascia, especially on the handle edge of ranges with an integral handle. Prior to fitting, the fascias should be stored flat, ensuring that they are not resting on any dirt or debris that may damage or mark the finish.

• You should take extreme care not to put the door down with excessive force on any edge, especially the handle edge, as this will cause crushing/impact damage on these edges.

• Take extreme care not to put the door down on any hard or rough surface such as bare concrete floors, or on any debris such as sawdust, grit or screws, as this can damage the product.

• If the fascias are attached to the carcase, then you should carefully remove the fascias by unclipping the hinges, and storing these flat

in a clean safe environment away from your working area, utilising the packing materials from the units.

• Where cutting/scribing décor panels and trim, you must use a sharp quality saw blade of the appropriate grade for fine-cutting, or a suitable router. Small chips can appear along the cut-edge, and so extra care must be taken to minimise the risk of chipping. Using a blunt or inappropriate saw blade will produce a poor finish, and this will not be covered by the guarantee.

• On Painted Products - Any fine chips along the cut edge should be smoothed with a fine grade sand paper prior to fitting.

• All cut edges should be sealed against moisture ingress using a suitable water resistant sealant/adhesive prior to installation.

• All trims are supplied in long lengths and need to be cut down on site, and again it is important that this is done using the appropriate tools.

GENERAL CARE

As with all furniture the most common problems found occur as a result of excessive or prolonged exposure to heat and/or moisture. Whilst bedroom furniture rarely is exposed to heat there is potential for moisture to be present in open plan bedrooms and bathrooms. Always ensure that water is not left on any surface areas as damage caused as a result is not covered by the guarantee.

If using glass cleaner to clean your glass doors be careful not to damage the finish of the door and cabinet parts while cleaning. Do not spray glass cleaner directly on to the glass or cabinet parts as this may discolour the finish of your bedroom cabinets. Instead, spray a small amount of cleaner on to a lint free cloth or paper towel then wipe the glass.

Please note that after a period of time it is quite normal for the colouring of bedroom units to mellow in colour. This is not a manufacturing fault and is as a result of exposure to light. This means that any additional parts subsequently ordered for your bedroom, or supplied as replacements may not be an exact colour match. However any additional parts supplied will also mellow over time to blend with your existing units.

The colour of doors and drawer fronts may appear mismatched in colour. This apparent mismatch is sometimes the effect of differing light conditions within your bedroom, (known as metamerism). To check your doors and fascia you should place them side by side in natural daylight for comparison.

Cleaning advice for all door types including timber, painted, foil, stainless steel & vinyl:

• do not use wax-furniture polish, abrasive or aggressive cleaners, bleach or other hypochlorite (chlorine) based cleaners, multipurpose cleaners, dilutes, acetone, alcohol, solvent or similar products on the door, as this will damage the surface; Additionally wax and polishes leave a residue build up that is difficult to remove.

• only use a 5% soap, 95% water (liquid soap) solution, wiping with a damp (not wet) cloth, finally drying with a soft clean cloth only.

• dust with a soft cloth only.

• Never use any abrasive pads or abrasive cleaners of the furniture. Spills and condensation on the fascias/panels should be cleaned and dried immediately.

Bedroom Door & Cabinet Maintenance


Foil & high gloss finished doorsFoil/Lacquer coated products are manufactured from the highest quality materials. Your gloss doors will come with a protective film over the front. You should remove this only after they are installed as the curing process continues for around 72 hours after the film is removed. This means the doors will be liable to scratching and other marks. You should avoid cleaning the doors for at least a few days to prevent any marks appearing on the surface.

Moisture: Please be careful not to puncture the foil/melamine lacquered surface of your panels. These should be kept dry in order to prevent moisture ingress.

Cleaning: Periodically clean the interior and exterior surfaces of the door and cabinet using a soft, damp cloth. Wipe dry all surfaces after cleaning. Use only cleaning agents that are intended for the materials used in your bedroom. There are a number of products available which are designed for cleaning high gloss doors, but plain water is also good for regular cleans. Always use a lint free soft cloth and use a circular motion to achieve a high buff. Micro-fibre cloths are also perfect for achieving a high shine with very little effort.

Avoid any agents that contain ammonia, alcohol, bleach or an abrasive. If the surface of the product is exposed to any oil based substance (for example olive oil, butter, margarine or cooking oil), the spillage must be wiped away immediately to prevent staining. High gloss doors do sometimes show fingerprints – but this is easily taken care of with a soft cloth. Grease marks caused by these oil-based products can easily be removed by use of a mild detergent, non-abrasive cleaner if used immediately after spillage has happened. Abrasive cleaners are not recommended for this type of product.

Do not expose the doors or panels to temperature in excess of 60°C (140°F).

Light: If the doors are supplied with a protective film on the face they must not be directly exposed to sunlight. Once installation is complete, carefully remove the protective film from the front of the fascia. We also advise that colour change is taken into consideration when replacing or fitting new doors some time after the original bedroom has been installed.

PAYMENT TERMS

Proforma invoices or COD is at our discretion and credit accounts are available subject to acceptance. Whilst we intend prices remain fixed for the duration of this Price List, we reserve the right to alter prices at short notice for reasons beyond our control. All goods remain the property of Alku until full and final payment has been made.

We accept credit and debit card payments, cash, bank transfers or cheques.

DELIVERY TERMS

We specialise in direct to showroom, storage facility, building site or home delivery.

Deliveries are throughout the UK, although some areas are carried out by third party transport and are charged accordingly.

Requested specific delivery dates are met where possible.

Orders below £500 may be subject to a small order delivery charge and may be carried out by third party transport.

Full details of delivery areas and costs are available from your Area Sales Manager.

Please ensure a suitable person is able to assist unloading as our vehicles have only one operative.

Two-person deliveries are available at an additional cost of £228 per delivery subject to discount.

Deliveries are between 8am and 6pm. Specific delivery dates and times may be arranged subject to an additional charge.

Terms & conditions of sale1 DEFINITIONS1.1 In these Conditions the following words shall have the following meanings:“Conditions” means the terms and conditions of sale set out below and (unless thecontext otherwise requires) includes any special terms and conditions agreed inwriting between us;“Contract” means the contract for the purchase and sale of the Goods subject tothese Conditions;“Goods” means any and all goods (including any instalments or parts) and/or theservices which we are to supply in accordance with these Conditions;“Insolvency Event” means if you become insolvent, have a receiver appointed overthe whole or any part of your assets, enter into any compound with creditors, or havean order made or resolution passed for you to be wound up (otherwise than infurtherance of a scheme for amalgamation or reconstruction) or if your ownership orcontrol shall pass into the hands of any other legal person, or an event analogousoccurs to you in any jurisdiction to which you are subject;“Intellectual Property Rights” means any patent, know how, trade mark, service mark,trade name, registered design, copyright, moral right, design right, database right,semi-conductor topography right or any other industrial or commercial right includingany application for registration or protection of any of the same anywhere in theworld;“ Special Goods” means any of our standard products which we agree to modify tomeet your specific requirements or products which are designed to your specification;“We” “Us” means Getley UK Limited“You” means the customer whose order for the Goods is accepted by us.

2 BASIS OF THE SALE2.1 We shall sell and you shall buy the Goods subject to these Conditions, whichsupersede any other terms and which govern the Contract to the exclusion of anyterms and conditions which you may ask us to sign or supply or which are impliedby trade, custom or course of dealing.2.2 No terms or conditions endorsed upon, delivered with or contained in yourorder or other document will form part of the Contract simply as a result of suchdocument being delivered to us or referred to in the Contract.2.3 Any variation to these Conditions is of no effect unless agreed in writing byour authorised representative.2.4 These Conditions constitute the entire agreement between you and us for thesupply of the Goods.2.5 Our employees or agents are not authorised to make any representationconcerning the Goods unless confirmed by us in writing, and you acknowledge thatyou do not rely on, and waive any claim for breach of, any such unconfirmedrepresentation (unless such representation is made fraudulently).2.6 Any advice or recommendation we or our employees or agents may give toyou as to the storage, application or use of the Goods which is not confirmed inwriting by us is followed or acted upon entirely at your own risk.2.7 Any typographical, clerical or minor/other error or omission in any documentor information issued by us shall be subject to correction without any liability on ourpart.2.8 We shall supply Special Goods subject to these terms and conditions and ourTerms and Conditions of Sale of Special Goods which you will be required to signbefore we will accept your order for Special Goods.

3 QUOTATIONS, ORDERS AND SPECIFICATION3.1 Our quotation is not an offer. Quotations shall be valid for 28 days from thedate of quotation subject to withdrawal or revision by us at any time before we acceptyour order.3.2 Prices included in quotations are applicable only if an order is placed for allGoods referred to in the quotation, if an order is placed for only some of the Goodsreferred to in the quotation, we reserve the right to re-quote.3.3 Each order for Goods issued by you is an offer by you to purchase the Goodssubject to these Conditions.3.4 No order submitted by you by whatever means is accepted by us until weconfirm our acceptance or (if earlier) we deliver the Goods to you.3.5 Where ordering Goods via our website, no Contract shall exist between youand us until we confirm our acceptance of your order by email3.6 You must ensure that the terms of any order (including any specification) arecomplete and accurate and that you give us any necessary information within asufficient time to enable us to complete the order.

6 PAYMENT6.1 Payment for Goods are due 30 days from date of invoice unless otherwise agreed by us in writing. Time of payment is of the essence.6.2 Cash or settlement discount is available if specified on our invoice.6.3 If you fail to make payment on the due date then, without prejudice to anyother right or remedy available to us, we shall be entitled to:

6.3.1 cancel the Contract or suspend any further deliveries to you;6.3.2 appropriate any payment made by you to such of the Goods (or the

goods supplied under any contract between you and us) as we may think fit(notwithstanding any purported appropriation by you);

6.3.3 charge you interest at an annual rate of 3% above Barclays Bank Plcbase rate from time to time which will accrue daily (both before and afterjudgement) and be calculated on a daily basis on overdue accounts from thedate of invoice until payment.

6.3.4 claim interest and compensation for debt recovery costs under the LatePayment of Commercial Debts (Interest) Act 1998 and the Late Payment ofCommercial Debts Regulations 2002.

6.4 Without prejudice to Condition 6.5, the Goods remain our property until theprice has been paid in full as provided for under Condition 10. A cheque given byyou or on your behalf in payment is not treated as a discharge until it has cleared.6.5 Unless there is prior written agreement, items returned will not be acceptedfor credit.6.6 We are entitled to set off sums you owe to us.

7 DELIVERY7.1 Delivery of the Goods shall be made by you collecting the Goods from usafter we have notified you that the Goods are ready for collection, or if delivery is tobe made by us, by us delivering the Goods.

7.2 Where the Goods are to be delivered in instalments, each delivery shall be aseparate contract and failure by us to deliver any one or more of the instalments inaccordance with these Conditions or any claim by you in respect of any one or moreinstalments shall not entitle you to treat the Contract as a whole as repudiated.7.3 Any time or date for delivery specified by us is approximate only and time ofdelivery is not of the essence. 7.4 If any cause outside our control or any labour dispute or any unforeseencontingency (whether in our premises or elsewhere) render it impracticable for us toexecute any order or to deliver within a reasonable time we reserve the right to cancelthe order and to repay you any payment already received.7.5 Subject to Condition 9.4 we shall not be liable for any loss or damage whetherdirect, indirect or consequential caused by or arising out of or connected with anydelay in the delivery or failure to execute an order or to deliver the Goods orderedor any cancellation of the Contract pursuant to Condition 7.4 above.7.6 We will endeavour to comply with any of your reasonable requests for thepostponement of delivery but shall be under no obligation to do so. Where deliveryis postponed at your request you shall pay all costs and expenses including areasonable charge for storage and transportation occasioned thereby.7.7 If we fail to deliver the Goods (or any instalment) for any reasons other thanany cause beyond our reasonable control or your fault, and we are accordingly liableto you, our liability shall be limited to the excess (if any) of the cost to you (in thecheapest available market) of similar Goods to replace those not delivered over theprice of the Goods.

8 WARRANTIES AND LIABILITY8.1 Subject to the Conditions set out below we warrant to you that the Goods willcorrespond with their specification at the time of delivery and will be free from defectsin material and workmanship for a period of 12 months from the date of their initialuse or 12 months from delivery, whichever is the first to expire.8.2 We shall not be liable under this warranty (or any other warranty, condition orguarantee) if:-

8.2.1 any defect in the Goods arises from any drawing, design or specificationsupplied by you;

8.2.2 any defect arises from fair wear and tear, wilful damage, negligence,abnormal working conditions, failure to follow our instructions (whether oral or in writing), misuse or alteration or repair of the Goods without our priorapproval; or

8.2.3 if the total price for the Goods has not been paid by the due date forpayment.

8.3 This warranty does not extend to parts, materials or equipment notmanufactured by us, in respect of which you shall only be entitled to the benefit ofany such warranty or guarantee as is given by the manufacturer to us.8.4 Any claim by you which is based on any defect in the quality or condition ofthe Goods or their failure to correspond with the specification shall (whether or notdelivery is refused by you) be notified to us within 7 days from the date of deliveryor (where the defect or failure was not apparent on reasonable inspection) within areasonable time after the discovery of the defect or failure. If delivery is not refused,and you do not notify us accordingly, you shall not be entitled to reject the Goods andwe shall have no liability for such defect or failure, and you shall be bound to pay theprice as if the Goods had been delivered in accordance with the Contract.8.5 In the event you have a valid claim in respect of any of the Goods which hasbeen notified to us in accordance with these Conditions, we shall be entitled to repairor replace the Goods (or the part in question) free of charge or, at our sole discretion,refund to you the price of the Goods (or a proportionate part of the price), but we shallhave no further liability to you.8.6 You agree to immediately notify us of any claim made by any consumer underthe consumer Protection Act 1987 or any other consumer protection legislationrelating to a manufacturing defect in the goods (“Consumer Claim”).8.7 You shall pass immediate and complete control to us of any Consumer Claimsshould we request. You will not prejudice any defence we or our supplier’s may haveto such Consumer Claim and will give to us all reasonable assistance with suchConsumer Claim as we request.

5-year declaration of guarantee 8.8 GeneralWe grant our trading partners a 5-year guarantee. Beneficiary under the guarantee Claims based on the guarantee may be lodged by trading partners. None of the rights in the following declaration may be transferred. 8.9 Duration of the guarantee The guarantee offered by us is valid for 5years. The guarantee period begins on the day the goods are delivered to the specialist dealer.8.10 Scope of the guarantee The guarantee covers defects and damages attributable to manufacturing defects, material defects or faulty workmanship during manufacture. In this case, we shall assume the material costs incurred by the repair. This shall depend on upstream suppliers still being able to supply original replacementparts. Faulty installation, issues caused by poor design, wear and tear and water damage or any age-related consequential costs are excluded. 8.11 Exclusion Any entitlement to replacement shall expire in the event of unauthorized modification of the parts supplied by us. In the case of accessories supplied by other suppliers, for instance electrical appliances, lamps, sink units, fittings, waste collectors, etc., the warranty provisions of the respective manufacturers shall apply. The guarantee does not extend to wearing parts, fragile parts like glass, plastic or parts made of rubber or light bulbs and damages and defects resulting from incorrect operation. The only exception to this shall be if the defects and damages are attributable to manufacturing defects, material defects or faulty workmanship during the manufacture process. Likewise, the guarantee does not extend to personal injury and subsequent defects. On principle, colours shall be matched and determined under standard lighting conditions similar to daylight. However, different surfaces and materials react differently depending on the type of light (daylight, halogen light, Led light etc.). This effect is, however, also possible in the case of light-coloured plastic and coatings, even if the material basis and surface structure are identical. Deviations in colour and structure, even in the case of identical colour designations, are unavoidable given the aforementioned influences and do not constitute cause for complaint. 8.12 Expiry of the guaranteeThe right to claim under guarantee shall expire if repairs or modifications are carried out


Terms & conditions of saleby persons not authorised by the manufacturer. All accounts must be settled in full for guarantee’s to be fulfilled. The guarantee shall also expire completely in the event of failure to comply with individual requirements contained in the guarantee provisions. 8.13 Guarantee claimThe damages shall be eliminated exclusively by the specialist dealer, or by our customer services as a special arrangement. We must be notified without delay in the event of a defect or damage, resulting in liability under this guarantee. The dealer shall provide a detailed description of thedamage. The dealer shall undertake any and all measures to clarify the claim. This means that the dealer must answer our questions truthfully and infull. If a guarantee claim is confirmed, we shallprovide the dealer with corresponding replacement materials free of charge. Guarantee items do not prolong the term of guarantee nor do they start a new term of guarantee. The term of guarantee for single items / replaced items ends with the general term of guarantee of the completebuilt-inbedroom.

9 LIMITATION OF LIABILITYYOUR ATTENTION IS PARTICULARLY DRAWN TO THIS CONDITION9.1 The following sets out our entire financial liability (including any liability forthe acts or omissions of our employees, agents or subcontractors) to you in respectof any breach of these Conditions and any representation, statement or act oromission (including negligence) arising under or in connection with the contractbetween us and in respect of any contemplated performance or lack of performance.9.2 All warranties, conditions or other terms implied by statute, common law, tradeusage or otherwise are excluded to the fullest extent permitted by law but thisexclusion does not apply to:-

9.2.1 any implied condition that we have the right to sell the Goods or whenownership is to pass; or

9.2.2 where the Goods are sold to a person dealing as a consumer within themeaning of the Unfair Contract Terms Act 1977, any implied term relating tothe conformity of the Goods with their description or sample or as to theirquality or fitness for a particular purpose.

9.3 The statutory rights of consumers are not affected.9.4 Nothing in these Conditions excludes or limits our liability for death orpersonal injury caused by our negligence or for fraudulent misrepresentation.9.5 Subject to Conditions 9.2 and 9.4:-

9.5.1 our total liability in contract, tort (including negligence or breach ofstatutory duty), misrepresentation or otherwise, arising in connection with theperformance or contemplated performance of the contract between us shallbe limited to the Contract price; and

9.5.2 we shall not be liable to you for any loss of profit, loss of production,depletion of goodwill or any indirect loss, damage, costs or expenseswhatsoever which arise out of or in connection with the contract between us.

10 RISK AND PROPERTY10.1 The Goods remain our property until we receive their full price together withall other sums which are or which become due from you on any account with us.10.2 If payments received from you are not stated to refer to a particular invoicewe may appropriate such payments to any outstanding invoice.10.3 Risk in the Goods passes to you on delivery.10.4 Until ownership of the Goods passes to you, you must:-

10.4.1 store them at your own cost on your premises separately from anyother goods and in a manner which makes them readily identifiable as ourgoods;

10.4.2 not destroy, deface or obscure any identifying mark or packaging ofthe Goods;

10.4.3 maintain the Goods in a satisfactory condition insured on our behalffor their full price against all risks; and

10.4.4 hold the proceeds of insurance referred to in Condition 10.4.3 on trustfor us and not mix them with any other money, nor pay the proceeds into anoverdrawn account.

10.5 During the period following delivery of the Goods and prior to ownershiphaving passed to you in accordance with Condition 10.1, you may use or sell theGoods to a bona fide purchaser in the ordinary course of your business, subjectalways to compliance with Condition 10.4 whilst the Goods remain under yourcontrol.10.6 We may, so as to discharge any overdue payment under the Contract recoveror resell the Goods and we may enter any premises where the Goods are stored forthis purpose.

11 TERMINATION11.1 We shall be entitled to terminate the Contract and cancel any further

deliveries to you under any order placed by you, in the event that:11.1.1 You fail to observe or perform any agreements or provisions contained

in the Contract (other than non-payment which shall be dealt with underCondition 6.3 unless the same is remedied (if capable of remedy) within seven days from the receipt of a notice specifying such failure;

11.1.2 You suffer an Insolvency Event.

12 CARRIAGE AND PACKING12.1 An extra charge for postage will be made on small orders or any special or

express delivery requirements made by you. Cases or other special packing and containers will be charged separately and are due for payment in accordance with the Condition 6. A credit or refund will subsequently be allowed for cases and other containers returned to our premises carriage paid and in good condition less cost of return carriage to the manufacturer.

13 SPECIAL GOODS13.1 Where the Goods are manufactured or where our standard goods are altered

in order to become the Goods in either case in accordance with information, drawings or instructions supplied by you:-

13.1.1 we give no guarantee or warranty as to the practicability, efficiency,safety or otherwise of the Goods;

13.1.2 you shall indemnify us against all liability we incur as a result of:-(a) the Goods infringing any Intellectual Property Rights or any statutoryprovision;

(b) any impracticability, inefficiency, lack of safety or defect in the Goodswhere any of these is due wholly or partly to faults or omissions in any such information, drawings or instructions;

13.1.3 all work (including design drawings) and any idea, invention orimprovement made by or on our behalf pursuant to your commission and allIntellectual Property Rights therein (including any design right in a design we create) belong to us; and

13.1.4 we shall not be liable to you in respect of any loss, damage or claimincurred by or made against you if any Goods infringe any IntellectualProperty Rights

13.2 In the case of Goods made specially or to your specification, pattern ordesign, we reserve the right to supply 5% more or less than the quantity ordered and we will adjust its charges pro-rata accordingly.

13.3 Where tools or dyes have to be made specially to produce Goods to yourspecification, pattern or design, such tools or dyes shall not become your propertyunless otherwise expressly agreed in writing.

14 YOUR MATERIALSIf we agree to carry out work on your own material or to store Goods after an invoicehas been presented for the Goods such material or Goods will be held at your riskand the Seller will not be responsible for damage by accidents, fire, flood,deterioration or any other cause.

15 LIENWe shall have a general lien (together with a power of sale) on all property ownedby you in our possession in satisfaction of any payment due or owing from you onany account.

16 GENERAL16.1 Each of our rights or remedies is without prejudice to any other right or

remedy we may have.16.2 If any provision of these Conditions is found by any competent authority to be

invalid, unenforceable or unreasonable, the remainder shall not be affected.16.3 Failure or delay by us in enforcing or partially enforcing any provision of these

Conditions is not a waiver of any of our rights.16.4 Any waiver by us of any breach by you is not a waiver of any subsequent breach.16.5 These Conditions and the contract between us do not create, confer or

purport to confer any benefit or right enforceable by any person not a party to it by virtue of the Contracts (Rights of Third Parties) Act 1999.

17 ENGLISH LAWThese Conditions and the contract between us are subject to English law and theexclusive jurisdiction of the English courts.
