What is a Mood Board?

• A mood board shows images associated with an idea you are trying to develop (e.g. music magazine) They are used to show your ideas. I feel this is a much more effective way of getting ideas across

This image is of the band the Sex Pistols. This band is a famous punk rock. My magazine is related to teen rebellion and 20th century punkish type music

This image is of the band blur. Blur was a famous band back in the 90s. In the 90s everyone was mad for this band with their witty lyrics about everyday life and their recognisable British accents. The cover image for my magazine is of a band called Right Hook Ruin. Their songs are distinctive because of the British accent or “Kate Nash vocals”

This image is of The Heroin Diaries a book by Nikki Sixx, the bass player of Motley Crue. This book tells his story about sex drugs and rock n’ roll. I feel that this a is a situation that most teens can relate to. My magazine will feature a double page spread with the band Right Hook Ruin. I will ask some questions that relate to sex drugs and rock n roll

Britpop was a genre of music in the 90s famed for the witty lyrics about everyday life and the strong British accents. My cover artists, Right Hook Ruin, their sound is quite like Britpop, with lyrics about everyday life and the singer has a very strong British accent

The Barfly is a venue in Camden where famous bands such as Oasis and Coldplay first started out. Right Hook Ruin have played a few shows here so I thought I should include this in my mood board

NME is one of the magazines that was quite popular in my survey. I found that this magazine was more for teens, late teens and people in their early 20s. I found some aspects of the magazine were useful

The Ramones were a punk band and were supposedly the first ever punk group. This band had a lot of attitude, similar to Right Hook Ruin

Red Hot Chili Peppers are a band that people find hard to classify, much like Right Hook Ruin

This image is of Courtney Love’s band Hole. I put this image on the mood board because Hole is almost a full girl band. Much like Hole, Right Hook Ruin’s front woman has a lot of attitude
