2019 Priorities
Reading & Community Engagement
The new school leaders have been doing a fantastic job modelling the correct behaviours and it was great to see all students at school ready to learn and following our 3 school rules Care for yourself, Care for Others and Care for the Environment.
We will be holding our Leader’s Induction next Friday 15 February at 2:00pm in Frammo Hall (U/C Play Area). Our State member Mr Andrew Powell will be on hand to present our leaders with their badges, all parents and community members are welcome to attend.
A school can only be as strong as the community around it. On behalf of the students I would like to say a sincere thankyou to all of the parent and community helpers who have helped get our school looking in top shape, ensured all our students have uniforms, maintained the kitchen gardens and have already assisted in the classrooms. Remember -If you or someone you know would like to assist in classes or around the school could you please let us know– we would love your help!
Parent Information Sessions
On Thursday 14 February we will be holding a parent information night for all parents to come in to the classrooms, meet the teachers and see what will be happening in each particular classroom this year. All parents are welcome and encouraged to attend.
There will be 3 sessions available; 3:00 pm, 3:30pm and 4:00 pm to allow for families with students in two or more classes. You do not need to book a session.
Thank you all for the positive start to 2019. I look forward to an exciting 2019 school year.
Regards, Adam Montgomery

Scholastic Book Club- issue 1 out now
Don’t forget to look for the Book Club Issue
catalogue that will be coming home in your
child’s schoolbag.
Book Club provides a fun and convenient way of bringing the best in children's
literature into your home. It’s packed full of exciting books from best-selling
authors, popular titles and series that kids love, as well as products and books
that make perfect gifts for younger siblings who may not be at school yet.
Ordering from Book Club is easy—simply go online and place your order and
then Scholastic’s ‘book elves’ take care of the rest. Before you know it, your
child will have a lovely surprise to take home once their order gets delivered to
their classroom.
When ordering from Book Club, you are not only helping your children, but you
are also helping your school—20% of your spend goes back to your school in
valuable Scholastic Rewards, which are used to buy classroom resources.
To celebrate the start of the New Year, any family ordering from issue 1 will
also receive a free All About Me Activity Journal to help us kick-start our 2019
plans.
I hope you all enjoyed the Christmas break and are all
up and ready for a new start in 2019.
I welcome you all back to another exciting year of
DRR. We will be starting DRR on week 4 the 18th Feb-
ruary.
This term we will be focusing on the Year 3's and 5's,
therefore we will be doing Naplan comprehension. I
will be doing up the new roster next week. Could you
please let me know if you are planning to be away this
term and if you are still happy to do the same days as
last year. Hope to hear from you all soon and thank you.

Yr 5/6 Class News
Creative Start to 2019 for
Year 5/6 students
Students from the Year 5/6 classroom spent the first week of Term 1 2019 demonstrating some of their artistic abilities. Students worked in pairs to design and paint a calico cur-tain that have now been hung in their classroom. Each cur-tain contained a word that would be relevant to them-selves, their classroom and their learning. (Laughter, Trust, Sharing, Respect, Challenges, Caring, Goals, Teams,
Thinking, Progress, Learning and Fun). These curtains are proudly displayed in their classroom
and students agree they have helped to make their learn-
ing environment more inviting. A very creative start to the
year – congratulations year 5/6 students. A big thankyou
to all the parents, aides and volunteers who helped to
paint, sew and hang these great pieces of art for us .
