Montreux - Leaking Sewerage Pipe - Print Quality
Transcript of Montreux - Leaking Sewerage Pipe - Print Quality
A Nu Flow South Africa licensee used the Nu Drain system as an alternative to a destructive, expensive and
intrusive repipe. The customer and residents of a posh apartment building beneted from Nu Flow’s innovative pipe
lining solution.
Project: Rehabilitate an underground sewer main in-place using Nu Drain.
Site: A luxurious, 8-story
apartment building called
Montreux Flats, located on Queen
Victoria Street in Cape Town,
South Africa.
System: An earthenware sewer
main that is 110mm-wide (4"-
wide). The pipe line is located
beneath a concrete slab that is
more than a meter thick.
Problem: The main sewer pipe
running from the building into
the municipal connection had
continuous blockages. The
customer wanted to rehabilitate
the failing pipe line but did not want
any disruption to the residents.
Circumvention: A traditional
repipe of the pipe would take
weeks of messy and noisy work,
in addition to inconveniencing
residents entering and leaving the
property.
Solution: Water Damage Services, a Nu Flow South Africa licensee, relined the sewer pipe with the innovative
Nu Drain system. Using existing access points, this Pull-in-Place technology was used to install a structural liner
without having to chop through concrete slab. The end result is a new pipe-within-a-pipe that will prevent future
failures, such as blockages. The job took a fraction of the time that a repipe would have taken and there wasn’t any
disruption to the residents.
The Nu Drain system permitted this licensee to provide a
convenient, cost-effective solution for the customer.
