New music style artistsand media approaching.

Autumn 2013.

USP? There are too many unique selling points tomention, but a key factor is that this tale of OnceUpon Another Time is a movement being lived onland, on line and under radar in the spirit of what

is best described as uniqulture. Tweet. Orsearch the hash tag for news updates. The rest

of this is just usual Monthly Planet style

The ups and downs of analogue peoplelivening up the digital age inspire. The coverimage is Richey Ostrowski of 16 HoleBoots (ta for the intro Dizzy Spell) byRupert Hitchcox at the June ArtBeat musicsocial a few days after I’d been thrilled by theirgig. That same evening Ben Dodd initiatedTryLife.TV to our story and us into theirs.More happens. Read on. Come in…

There was an on line, cut n paste fanzine.Inspired by the Metropolis based publication,The Daily Planet. It wasn’t monthly (I was outgigging and all that) but it tipped well, woveartists into uniqulture and proved itself.Approx 10,000 readers is a small but healthyway to start something new. This is the lastincarnation of it, as ideas have exploded likefireworks at our first editorial planning (afterPeoples Day) ofwhats next. The great thingis that we knowsome greatquality, creativetalents betweenus that arecoming onboard.Stay tuned… inthe mean time.XXX Caffy

Uniqulture. The last month will shape the nextmonths. Above, Rhiannon The Nightmare live at TheBig Red Sessions. These are musical gatherings in ashipping container behind the double decker red buspizzeria in Deptford, South East London. All that isrequired is entertainment value and good songs. It needsto be kept simple in such a venue. Musician Ceri Jamesis co-curator and on tour in his native wales this summer.

Anyway, I digress, on Wednesday 19th June,Rhiannon The Nightmare were live insession on Joyzine Radio. Country punk blues with asaucy sparkl that you can sing along to from this DeptfordArmy posse. Actually, quite a bit happened that day.

Earlier on 19th June I met up with Synergie 16Productions and Stigma Global in the West End.What can I say, except that some very exciting and widelybeneficial projects - in association with the Urban ArtsExperience - are in the pipeline. Nearly skipped fromOxford Street to Fitzrovia, I was that excited. Calmeddown a bit by the time I reached the BandWagon gigssocial where I met more great music industry up for tryingnew things. In fact I’d first met Maria and StanBandWagon through friendliness during an Artful month, roll on October for new beginnings. From there it was atube ride and under the river Thames home to SouthLondon where I met fellow Rocklands collaborator,Rupert Hitchcox across the road from New CrossStation at The Amersham Arms where we experiencedthe most amazing Dry the River gig for the London dateon their hot ticket, low key tour. Ru took the audienceimage below. Adoration was in the air… (and again thenext night too, actually…

It is great to see the locals reclaiming the venueagain now that its under some pretty rock n rollmanagement. I was also excited to bump into Andyn Jamie of Propaganda Radio show. Ben, Ru and Iexchanged excited catch ups via beer, chat n chipsbefore we went in for DJ Yoda frolics.Hmmm. Yes. Quite a few of these images andexchanges are created in South East London, butthats just where we live. Also, I’m one of the livemusic promoters down that way. But it really is notwhere you’re from but where you’re at. We existwherever welcome.Drank loads. Too much, in fact, to get up early hoursand do serious grown up business the next morning. But I managed it. Was knackered by the afternoon ofFriday 20th June. No time to be tired for toolong though. Got my second wind. Helped it withstrong hot black coffee and red stripe. And yay, party-Caff was back and ready for a grrrreat night out inhonour of London mover-shaker but most importantlywonderful human being, Jean Genie Graham.Another very talented friend of mine, she is amusician, radio presenter/producer who hostsPanda~Power! Events, is our resident DJ at thePlayhard live music stream show and a ray ofsunshine, amongst much else. T’was a real gatheringat Power’s Bar in Kilburn that evening… (/continued)

Playhard co-promoter, creative talent, scouting star, queenrock chick and larger than life lovely Heather MinxFerguson introduced us to Bad Wolf. They have gob smacking rock songs, an infectiouslyengaging live presence and a never dull tale. Went down atreat at Playhard and picked up international interest atthe same time. After getting their first BBC Introducing play the weekendbefore, this evening’s show at Powers Bar in Kilburn wastheir “third time lucky” attempt to play a gig at TheWheelbarrow in Camden… (!) On 20th July they went intoTitan Studios with Gallows producer, Steve Sears, to recordtheir debut album.

Multi talents ahoy - Dizzy Spell (who I met comingdown the steps of 229 Great Portland Street, to aRocklands gig to see Patrick Jones) and GabiGarbutt (who additionally DJ’d at Jean Genie’sPanda~Power! The Friday before).Small audience = more fresh black cherries to shareround and a chance for some proper conversationsand connections. They met this evening, but after a shout out for aphotographer a few years ago, Dizzy introduced meto Andrei Nedelea of Red Stag Management whophotographed visual artists Eugene Ankomah whilelistening to the band he managed, WarehouseRepublic. Great songswe got into, and later Gabisang vocals on one of their recordings.Feels like things go round in magic circles. Dizzy ismaking a film of in consultationwith Patrick Jones.
