stage construction, costume making, selling ads and now it's CRUNCH TIME ....

Coaches Corner
We have a lot of great coaches. This is Johnny Beven.
For those who do not know… Johnnie is a US National champion, 4-time National medalist, 3 time US Jr World Team memeber, US International Team member, International medalist
Tips from Coach Johnnie:• Have a good time at the rink. Smile!
Enjoy being a kid ..it doesn't last forever!
• Success is just failure management. • Any mistake you make on a single jump
~ you will make on the corresponding double or triple....Adding a rotation doesn't make the mistake go away and oftentimes makes the same mistake fatal! Working on your singles will help your doubles, and working on your doubles will help your triples.
• Practice succeeding

Take a Bow
Kayleigh has been skating since she was 3 years old. She has been competing for almost as many years. Already a Gold Medalist in Moves in the Field, Kayleigh recently passed her Junior Free Skate. Overcoming a back injury that kept her from competing last season - she qualified for Sectionals and feels blessed with her many successes on the ice over the years. "I am looking forward to being able to compete this year and I am hoping for a great upcoming skating season."
Tools of the Trade
What is it?
a) __ Drafting Compass
b) __ Flute Grinder
c) __ Motorcycle Jack
d) __ Ice Scribe
The answer is D. If you answered A, you wouldn't be far off. This contraption drew perfect circles for figure skaters working on compulsory figures. The ice was divided into sections and aptly named Patch Ice. Always the hour preceding the freestyle session so the ice was pristine enough to see your tracings. Abolished in 1990 from competition from US Figure Skating but regaining popularity. Most high level skaters spent up to half their ice time on figures vs freestyle in a separate pair of skates with blades much flatter and no bottom toe pick!
