Month of Sha’ban

The Holy Prophet (saws) used to say, “Sha`ban is my month; hence, Paradise will

be incumbently decided for him who observe fasting on one day of my month.”

Imam Ali (a.s) has said, ‘For one who observes fasting in Sha`ban on account of

love for the Messenger of Allah (a.s) and seeking nearness to Allah (swt), Allah

(swt) will love him and will draw him near to His honor on the Resurrection Day

and will decide Paradise for him incumbently.’

Imam Ali Reza (as) has said, “Whoever fasts one day of Shaban, just for the sake

of God’s reward he will enter the heaven and whoever repents to Allah seventy

times, on the Day of Judgment he will be raised with the Prophet and God’s

appreciation will be obligatory on him. Whoever donates in this month even by

half of a date, God will forbid his body to go to hell. Whoever fasts three days of

Shaban and connects these days to the month of Ramadan, God will give him the

reward for the two complete months.”

General Acts in Sha`ban

It is also recommended to observe fasting on Thursdays in Sha`ban. In this respect,

a °ad¢th reads that the heavens decorate themselves each Thursday in Sha`ban and

the angels pray Allah (swt), saying, “O our God: (please do) forgive him who

observe fasting on this day and respond to his prayers.”

The Holy Prophet (a.s) is also reported as saying, “If one observe fasting each

Monday and Thursday in Sha`ban, Allah (swt) will settle forty of his needs—20

related to the worldly life and 20 to the Hereafter.”

It is highly recommended to send plenty of salutations (recite salawat) upon the

Holy Prophet and his Household in the month of Sha’ban.

O Allah, (please) bless Muhammad

and the Household of Muhammad. اللهم صل على محمد وآل محمد

It is recommended to recite the following prayer of seeking forgiveness 70 times

each day in Sha`ban:

I seek the forgiveness of

Allah and I pray Him for

approval of my

repentance.

أستغفر الله وأسأله .وبةالت

It is recommended to recite the following prayer of seeking forgiveness 70 times

each day in Sha`ban:

ذي ال إله أستغفر الله ال هو إال

I seek forgiveness of

Allah, there is no god

save Whom,

the All-beneficent, the حيمحمن الرالر

All-merciful,

the Ever-living, the ومالقي الحي

Everlasting

and to Him I turn .وأتوب إليه

repentant.

According to narrations, the best supplications in the month of Sha`ban are the

prayers of seeking forgiveness of Allah (swt) (i.e. istighfar). Hence, to seek Allah

(swt)’s forgiveness 70 times a day in Sha`ban is equal to seeking His forgiveness

70,000 times a day in the other months.


It is recommended to give alms in this month even if it is as small as a half date.

It is recommended to repeat the following invocation 1000 times in Sha`ban:

There is no god save الله، ال إله إال

Allah;

and we serve none save إياه وال نعبد إال

Him,

being sincere to Him in ينمخلصين له الد

obedience,

Though the unbelievers .المشركونولو كره

are averse.

The reward of him who recites this is as if it he has served (Allah (swt) for 1000

years.


Thursday Salaah in the month of Sha’ban

It is recommended to offer a two Rak`ah prayer each Thursday in Sha`ban.

In each Rak`ah, it is recommended to recite S£rah of al-Fati¦ah once followed by

S£rah Tawhid 100 times.

After salaam, recite 100 times;

O Allah, (please) bless Muhammad

and the Household of Muhammad. اللهم صل على محمد وآل محمد


1st of Sha’ban

Recite 12 rakaats, with the recitation of the Chapter of Ikhlas 11 times after the

recitation of the Chapter on Al-Hamd.

It is a day of great excellence and it has been reported from Ja’far Sadiq (as)

that whoever fasts on that day is assured of Heaven.

Seyyid ibn Tawoos has reported from the Holy Messenger (saw) that a person who fasts on the first three days of this month and on their eve recites 2 rakaats in

each of which he recites after the Chapter on Al-Hamd, the Chapter on Ikhlas

11 times will be greatly rewarded.


Daily Salwaat

It is reported through authentic sources that Imam Zainul Abideen (as) used to

recite the following Salawat every day in Sha`ban at the time sun passes the

merdian (waqt-e-Zawal) and on the night of 15th

Sha`ban.

the sailing ships through the

abysmal waves.

جج رية في اللالفلك الجا الغامرة،

He who embarks on will be saved ،يأمن من ركبها but he who abandons will be

drowned. ويغرق من تركها،

He who precedes them will miss

the Right Path م لهم مارق،المتقد

and he misses them will lose, ر عنهم زاهق،والمتأخ but he who adheres to them will

win. .والالزم لهم الحق

and settle all (our) duties towards

Mu¦ammad and the Household of

د د وآل محممحم ولحق أداء وقضاء

by Your might and power; O the

Lord of the worlds.

ة يا رببحول منك وقو .العالمين



the Household of Mu¦ammad—


the pure, the pious, the righteous بين األبرار األخيار،يالط whose rights have been made

incumbent upon us by You ذين أوجبت حقوقهم،ال

and the obedience to whom has

been deemed obligatory upon us

by You and whose (divinely

commissioned) leadership has

been (also) deemed obligatory

upon us by You.

وفرضت طاعتهم .وواليتهم




the Household of Mu¦ammad;

د على محم صل مالله دوآل محم

and fill in my heart with the

obedience to You; واعمر قلبي بطاعتك،

and do not disgrace me by acts of

disobedience to You; وال تخزني بمعصيتك،

and grant me the feeling of

sympathy towards those whom

You have decided to straighten

their sustenance

وارزقني مواساة من رت عليه من رزقكقت

by means of Your favors that

You have decided to make

expansive for me

من عت عليبما وس فضلك،

and by means of that with which

You have covered me out of Your

fairness; من عدلك، ونشرت علي

and make me live under Your

shade. ك،وأحييتني تحت ظل

This is the month of Your

Prophet and the Master of Your

Messengers.

د ك سيوهذا شهر نبي سلكر

It is Sha`ban, which You have

encompassed with Your mercy

and pleasure,

ذي حففته شعبان ال ضوانحمة والرمنك بالر

and on which the Messenger of

Allah—peace and blessings be

upon him and his Family—used

to observe fasting painstakingly

and used to spend it with acts of

worship

ذي كان رسول الله الصلى الله عليه وآله

م يدأب في صيامه وسل وقيامه

on all of its days and night في لياليه وأيامه

on account of Your honoring and

dignifying this month, up to his

death.

بخوعا لك في إكرامه وإعظامه إلى محل


.حمامهO Allah: (please do) help us

follow the example of him (i.e.

the Holy Prophet as regards the

honoring of this month)

فأعنا على اللهم ته فيه،ان بسنستناإل

and help us attain nearness to

him. .فاعة لديهونيل الش

O Allah: (please do) decide him

as my interceder (before You)

whose intercession for me is

acceptable

واجعله لي شفيعا اللهم عا،مشف

and as my clear path toward You; ،وطريقا إليك مهيعا

and make me follow him until I

meet You on the Resurrection

Day enjoying Your pleasure with

me

بعا حتى واجعلني له متي ألقاك يوم القيامة عن

راضيا،and Your overlooking my sins ،وعن ذنوبي غاضيا

and thus You will confer upon

me with Your mercy and pleasure

قد أوجبت لي منك ضوان،حمة والرالر

and allow me to reside in the

Eternal Abode and the Place of

the Righteous.

القرار وأنزلتني دار .األخيار ومحل


Al-Munajat al-Sha`baniyyah

It is recommended to recite the following munajat that has been narrated by Ibn

Khalawayh who commented on it, saying, “This is the confidential prayer of Imam

`Al¢ Am¢r al-Mu'min¢n and the Holy Imams, his descendants, (a.s) who used to

utter it in the month of Sha`ban.”

and listen to my prayer

whenever I pray You;

واسمع دعائي إذا دعوتك،

and listen to my call

whenever I call upon you; ناديتك،واسمع ندائي إذا

and accept from me whenever

I confidentially whisper to

You, إذا ناجيتك وأقبل علي

for here I am fleeing into

You, فقد هربت إليك،

and I am standing before You

showing submission to You,

ووقفت بين يديك مستكينا لك،

imploring You, عا إليك،متضر hoping for the reward that

You have. راجيا لما لديك ثوابي،

And You do know what is in

my inner self; وتعلم ما في نفسي،

and You understand my

needs; وتخبر حاجتي،

and You recognize my

essence; وتعرف ضميري،

and all my moves and

stillness are known by You;

وال يخفى عليك أمر منقلبي ومثواي،

and so are all the utterance

which I want to begin with وما أريد أن أبدئ به من


منطقي،and all the requests that I

want to express ه به من طلبتي،وأتفو

and all the expectation that I

hope for my future. وأرجوه لعاقبتي،

All that which You, O my

Master, have decided for me

وقد جرت مقاديرك علي دييا سي

up to the end of my life, ي إلى آخر فيما يكون من

عمري

including my secret and open

matters, shall be experienced

by me. من سريرتي وعالنيتي

And it is in Your, not

anybody else, Hand are all

increase and decrease,

ال بيد غيرك وبيدك زيادتي ونقصي

and my benefits and harms

that come upon me. .يونفعي وضر

O my God: If You deprive me

(of Your sustenance), then

who else can ever provide me

with sustenance?

إلهي إن حرمتني فمن ذا ني؟ذي يرزقال

And if You disappoint me,

then who else can ever back

me?

ذي وإن خذلتني فمن ذا ال ينصرني؟

O my God: I do seek Your

protection against Your wrath

and against the befalling of

Your ire upon me.

إلهي أعوذ بك من .وحلول سخطكغضبك

O my God: If I do not deserve

Your mercy,

إلهي إن كنت غير مستأهل لرحمتك

You are still expected to

confer upon me with Your

expansive favor.

فأنت أهل أن تجود علي .بفضل سعتك


O my God: I now imagine

how I will stand before You

ي بنفسي واقفة إلهي كأن بين يديك

shaded by my good idea about

You on account of my trust in

You,

لي ها حسن توكوقد أظل عليك

and You will decide for me

that which befit You and You

will include me with Your

forgiveness.

فقلت ما أنت أهله .دتني بعفوكوتغم

O my God: If you pardon me,

then who else is worthier than

You are in pardoning.

إلهي إن عفوت فمن أولى منك بذلك؟

And if my time of death is

approaching while my deeds

are still too short to approach

me to You,

وإن كان قد دنا أجلي ولم يدنني منك عملي

I am then considering my

confession of being guilty to

be my means towards You.

نب فقد جعلت اإلقرار بالذ يك وسيلتيإل

O my God: I have wronged

myself when I allowed myself

to behave unrestrainedly;

إلهي قد جرت على ظر لهانفسي في الن

therefore, woe will betide

myself if You do not forgive. .فلها الويل إن لم تغفر لها

O my God: You have never

ceased Your favors from me

all over my lifetime;

ك عليإلهي لم يزل بر أيام حياتي

so, (please) do not stop Your

favors from covering me after

my death.

ي في ك عنفال تقطع بر .مماتي

O my God: How can I despair

of Your nice custody over me

after my death

إلهي كيف آيس من حسن نظرك لي بعد


مماتي

while You have not shown me

but the good throughout my

lifetime?

الجميل ني إالوأنت لم تول .في حياتي

O my God: (please) manage

my affairs in the very way

that befits You;

من أمري ما إلهي تول أنت أهله،

and confer upon me—a sinful

who is covered by his

ignorance—with Your favors.

بفضلك على وعد علي .مذنب قد غمره جهله

O my God: You have

concealed my sins in my

worldly life,

ذنوبا إلهي قد سترت علي نيافي الد

but I need Your concealment

more urgently in the Next

Life.

وأنا أحوج إلى سترها منك في األخرى علي

You have thus not disclosed

my sins before any of Your

righteous servants;

إذ لم تظهرها ألحد من عبادك الصالحين

therefore, (please) do not

expose me on the

Resurrection Day before all

the witnesses.

فال تفضحني يوم القيامة .على رؤوس األشهاد

O my God: It is Your

magnanimity that expanded

my hope; إلهي جودك بسط أملي،

and surely Your pardon is

more preferable than my

deeds. .وعفوك أفضل من عملي

O my God: so (please) delight

me when I meet You on the

day when You shall judge

between Your servants.

ني بلقائك يوم إلهي فسر .تقضي فيه بين عبادك

O my God: I submit to You

the apology of him who

cannot dispense with the

إلهي اعتذاري إليك


acceptance of his excuse; اعتذار من لم يستغن عن عذره قبول

so, (please) accept my excuse,

O the most Magnanimous of

all those before whom the

guilty make an apology.

فاقبل عذري يا أكرم من .اعتذر إليه المسيئون

O my God: (please) do not

reject my request; حاجتي، إلهي ال ترد

and do not fail my big hope

for You; ب طمعي،وال تخي

and do not disappoint my

desire and expectation for

You.

وال تقطع منك رجائي .وأملي

O my God: Had You wanted

to humiliate me, You would

not have guided me (to You);

هي لو أردت هواني لم إل تهدني،

and had You decided to

disclose me, You would not

have saved me.

ولو أردت فضيحتي لم .تعافني

O my God: I do not expect

You to reject my request that

I spent my whole lifetime

asking for it from You.

ني في ك تردإلهي ما أظنحاجة قد أفنيت عمري

.في طلبها منكO my God: all praise be to

You, forever, forever,

perpetually, everlastingly,

إلهي فلك الحمد أبدا أبدا دائما سرمدا

increasingly, and

unperishingly, as exactly as

You like and please.

يزيد وال يبيد كما تحب .وترضى

O my God: If You punish me

for my offense, I shall

demand with Your pardon;

إلهي إن أخذتني بجرمي أخذتك بعفوك،

and if You punish me for my وإن أخذتني بذنوبي


sins, I shall demand with

Your forgiveness; أخذتك بمغفرتك،

and if You decide to put me in

Hell, I shall declare to its

inhabitants that I love You.

وإن أدخلتني النار أعلمت .كي أحبأهلها أن

O my God: If my deed is too

little when compared to the

true obedience to You,

إلهي إن كان صغر في جنب طاعتك عملي

then my hope for You is too

big when compared to my

prospect from You.

فقد كبر في جنب رجائك .أملي

O my God: How can it be that

I return from You with

disappointment and

deprivation

إلهي كيف أنقلب من عندك بالخيبة محروما

while I expect, depending

upon Your magnanimity, that

You will endow me with

safety and mercy?

ي ظن وقد كان حسنبجودك أن تقلبني

جاة مرحوما؟بالن

O my God: I have spent my

whole life with the vigor of

being negligent to You

إلهي وقد أفنيت عمري هو عنك،ة السفي شر

and I have spent my whole

youth with the inebriety of

being far away from You.

وأبليت شبابي في سكرة .باعد منكالت

O my God: I have not thus

woken up to myself during

the period when I seductively

felt safe from Your

punishment

إلهي فلم أستيقظ أيام اغتراري بك،

and when I was taking the

path that ends with Your ire.

وركوني إلى سبيل .سخطك

O my God: Nevertheless, I

am—Your servant and the son إلهي وأنا عبدك وابن


of Your servant—now

standing before You عبدك قائم بين يديك،

and begging You in the name

of Your generosity. .ل بكرمك إليكمتوس

O my God: I am, being Your

servant, disowning all that

with which I used to face

You,

ل إليك إلهي أنا عبد أتنص مما كنت أواجهك به

namely my shameless

inconsideration of You,

ة استحيائي من من قل نظرك،

and I am hereby appealing for

Your pardon since pardon is

the feature of Your

generosity.

وأطلب العفو منك إذ .العفو نعت لكرمك

O my God: I had no strength

by which I would rid myself

of acts of disobedience to You

إلهي لم يكن لي حول فأنتقل به عن معصيتك

except after You aroused me

to love You.

في وقت أيقظتني إال تك،لمحب

Hence, I have become as

exactly as You want me to be. وكما أردت أن أكون كنت

I have thus thanked You for

You have included me with

Your generosity

فشكرتك بإدخالي في كرمك،

and You have purified my

heart from the filths of being

inattentive to You.

اخ ولتطهير قلبي من أوس .الغفلة عنك

O my God: (please) look at

me in the same way as You

have looked at him whom

You called and he has

responded to You,

نظر من إلهي انظر إلي ناديته فأجابك،

and upon whom You have

conferred with Your aid and

he thus has obeyed You.

واستعملته بمعونتك فأطاعك،


O He Who is too close to

depart from him who is

inadvertent to Him.

يا قريبا ال يبعد عن به، المغتر

O He Who is too

magnanimous to deprive him

who hopes for His reward.

ن ويا جوادا ال يبخل عم .رجا ثوابه

O my God: (please) grant me

heart whose longing for You

will approach it to You;

إلهي هب لي قلبا يدنيه منك شوقه،

and grant me tongue whose

truthfulness is directed to

You; رفع إليك صدقه،ولسانا ي

and sight whose righteousness

advances towards You. .هبه منك حقونظرا يقر

O my God: Verily, he who

recognizes You shall never be

anonymous;

ف بك من تعر إلهي إن غير مجهول،

and he who seeks Your

shelter shall never be

disappointed; ومن الذ بك غير مخذول،

and he whom is attended by

You shall never be boring.

ومن أقبلت عليه غير .مملول

O my God: Verily, he who

abides by Your Path shall be

enlightened;

من انتهج بك إلهي إن لمستنير،

and he who resorts to You

shall be succored.

من اعتصم بك وإن لمستجير،

I am thus having recourse to

You, O my God; so, (please)

do not disappoint me as

regard Your having mercy

upon me;

ك يا إلهي فال وقد لذت ب ي من رحمتك،ب ظنتخي

and do not divest me of Your

kindness. .وال تحجبني عن رأفتك


O my God: grant me, among

those who show servitude to

You,

إلهي أقمني في أهل واليتك

the position of him who

(incessantly) longs for more

love for You.

يادة من مقام من رجا الز .تكمحب

O my God: (please) inspire

me with passionate love for

ceaseless reference to You;

إلهي وألهمني ولها بذكرك إلى ذكرك،

and (please) devote all my

pursuit to my attaining the

delight of the success that is

achieved through Your Names

and the standing of Your

Holiness.

تي في روح نجاح وهم .قدسك أسمائك ومحل

O my God: I adjure You by

You that You put me in the

position of those who are

obedient to You

إلهي بك عليك إالأهل ألحقتني بمحل

طاعتك،

and in an honorable standing

of Your pleasure,

والمثوى الصالح من مرضاتك،

for I, verily, have no power to

rescue فعا،ي ال أقدر لنفسي دفإن

or to benefit myself. وال أملك لها نفعا. O my God: I am Your

servant—the feeble and the

guilty—

عيف إلهي أنا عبدك الض المذنب،

and Your slave—the penitent.

So, (please) do not include me

with those from whom You

have turned Your face

ومملوكك المنيب فال ن صرفت عنه تجعلني مم

وجهك،or with those whom are

deprived of Your pardon .وحجبه سهوه عن عفوك


because of their

inattentiveness to You.

O my God: (please) grant me

absolute devotion to You;

إلهي هب لي كمال نقطاع إليك،اإل

and illuminate the sights of

our hearts with the light of

their observing of You

وأنر أبصار قلوبنا بضياء نظرها إليك،

so that the sights of the hearts

will penetrate the Screens of

Light

حتى تخرق أبصار القلوب ورحجب الن

and arrive at the Core of

Magnificence فتصل إلى معدن العظمة،

and that our souls hang to the

Majesty of Your Holiness.

قة بعزوتصير أرواحنا معل .قدسك

O my God: (please) make me

of those who responded to

You when You call at them

ن إلهي واجعلني مم ناديته فأجابك،

and those who were shocked

for Your Majesty when You

observe them; والحظته فصعق لجاللك،

and You have thus taken into

their confidence and they

acted for You openly.

فناجيته سرا وعمل لك .جهرا

O my God: I have shaded

neither despair nor gloom

over my good idea about You;

ط على حسن إلهي لم أسل ي قنوط األياس،ظن

and I have never lost hope in

Your excellent magnanimity.

وال انقطع رجائي من .جميل كرمك

O my God: if my sins have

overthrown me in Your sight,

إلهي إن كانت الخطايا قد أسقطتني لديك


then please pardon me for my

excellent trust in You.

ي بحسن فاصفح عن .لي عليكتوك

O my God: if my

wrongdoings have caused me

to lose Your honorable

kindness,

نوب تني الذإلهي إن حط من مكارم لطفك

then my belief in You have

called my attention to the

generosity of Your sympathy.

هني اليقين إلى فقد نب .كرم عطفك

O my God: if my inadvertence

has screened me against

readying myself for meeting

You,

إلهي إن أنامتني الغفلة ستعداد للقائكعن اإل

then my recognition of the

generosity of Your bounties

has awakened me.

هتني المعرفة بكرم فقد نب .آالئك

O my God: if Your grave

chastisement has drawn me to

Hellfire,

إلهي إن دعاني إلى النار عظيم عقابك

then Your opulent reward has

drawn me to Paradise.

ة فقد دعاني إلى الجن .جزيل ثوابك

O my God: You alone do I

pray and You alone do I

implore and desire.

إلهي فلك أسأل وإليك أبتهل وأرغب،

And I beseech You to bless

Mu¦ammad and the

Household of Mu¦ammad

ي على سألك أن تصلوأ دد وآل محممحم

and to include me with those

who always mention You,

ن يديم وأن تجعلني مم ذكرك،

who never breach their

covenant to You, وال ينقض عهدك،


who never fail to thank You, يغفل عن شكرك،وال and who never belittle Your

Affairs. .بأمرك وال يستخف

O my God: (please do) take in

me with the most brilliant

Light of Your Dignity

ك إلهي وألحقني بنور عز األبهج

so that I will recognize You ،فأكون لك عارفا and I will leave everybody

else وعن سواك منحرفا،

and that I will be fearful of

and careful with You; ومنك خائفا مراقبا،

O the Lord of Majesty and

Honor. يا ذا الجالل واإلكرام،

May Allah send blessings

upon Mu¦ammad, His

Messenger, and upon his

Household, the Infallible,

1st Night of Sha`ban

Recite a 12 Rakàh prayer in each Rakàh of which the S£rah of al-Fati¦ah is

recited once and the S£rah of al-Taw¦¢d is repeated 11 times.

1st

Day of Sha`ban

Fasting on the 1st day of Sha’ban has great rewards. Imam Ja`far al-¯adiq (a.s) is

reported as saying, “Paradise will be incumbently decided for him who observe

fasting on the first day of Sha`ban.”

Sayyid Ibn ±aw£s has narrated on the authority of the Holy Prophet (a.s) that an

abundant reward will be conferred to him who observes fasting on the first three

days in Sha`ban and on their eve recites a two Rakàh prayer In each Rakàh of this

prayer, one should recite the S£rah of al-Fati¦ah once and the S£rah of al-Taw¦¢d

11 times.


3rd

of Sha`ban

Imam Husain (a.s) was born on the 3rd

of Sha`ban.

Abu’l-Qasim ibn Àla’ al-Hamadaniy, the representative of Imam al-°asan al-

Àskariy (a.s), received a document saying that our master, Imam al-°usayn ibn

Àl¢ (a.s), was born on the third of Sha`ban; therefore, you should observe fasting

on this day and recite the following supplication:

ي أسألك بحقإن اللهم المولود في هذا اليوم

O Allah: I beseech You in the

name of the one born on this

day

بشهادته قبل الموعود استهالله ووالدته،

the promised with martyrdom

before the beginning of his life

and before his birth,

the heavens and all their ماء ومن فيها،بكته الس

inhabitants wept for him;

and so did the earth and those واألرض ومن عليها،

living one it;

;before his feet stepped on it ولما يطأ البتيها،

;the mourned slain one قتيل العبرة،

and the master of the Family (of د األسرة،وسي

Prophethood);

صرة يوم الممدود بالن ة،الكر

and the one who shall be backed

with victory on the Day of

Return;

ض من قتله أنالمعو ة من نسله،األئم

the one whom has been awarded

with the favor of the Imams’

being from his offspring as

recompensation of his being

slain;

فاء في تربته،والشand the one awarded with the

favor of the soil of his grave

carrying cure;

والفوز معه في أوبته،and the one awarded with the

favor that he will be triumphing

when he will be returned;

and also the Prophet’sواألوصياء من عترته بعد

Successors from his offspring


will be returned after the advent قائمهم وغيبته،

of their Rising Imam and after

his occultation,

,so that they shall take revenge حتى يدركوا األوتار،

,and they shall retaliate ويثأروا الثار،

and they shall please the ويرضوا الجبار،

Onmipotent Lord,

and they shall be the best ويكونوا خير أنصار،

supporters.

صلى الله عليهم مع .هارنيل والاختالف الل

May Allah’s blessings be

perpetually upon them

whenever night and day succeed

each other.

هم إليك فبحق اللهم لأتوس

O Allah: I thus beg You in the

name of them;

وأسأل سؤال مقترف معترف

and I implore You with the

imploration of a sinful one who

confesses of his guilt,

and who has done evil to مسيء إلى نفسه

himself,

due to his violations—the past ط في يومه وأمسه،مما فر

and the present.

يسألك العصمة إلى محل .رمسه

He thus beseeches You for

protection from You up to the

place of his grave.

د على محم فصل اللهم وعترته،

O Allah: (please) send blessings

upon Mu¦ammad and his

Offspring,

and include us with his group واحشرنا في زمرته،

(on the Resurrection Day)

and allow us to dwell in the ئنا معه دار الكرامة،وبو

House of Honor with him,

.and in the abode of residence .اإلقامة ومحل


وكما أكرمتنا اللهم بمعرفته فأكرمنا بزلفته،

O Allah: as You have conferred

upon us with the honor of our

recognition of him, (please)

confer upon us with the honor

of being near to him,

وارزقنا مرافقته وسابقته،and bestow upon us with the

bliss of accompanying him and

enjoying a close rank to him,

and include us with those who م ألمره،ن يسلواجعلنا مم

submit to him totally,

الة عليه عند ويكثر الص ذكره،

and those who pray (You) for

sending blessings upon him

whenever they mention him,

أوصيائه وعلى جميع وأهل أصفيائه،

and also upon all his Successors

and Selected Ones,

الممدودين منك بالعدد ثني عشر،اإل

whom are defined by You as

twelve persons,

,being the luminous stars هر،جوم الزالن

جميع والحجج على .البشر

and the Arguments against all

humankind.

وهب لنا في هذا اللهم اليوم خير موهبة،

O Allah: and (please) grant us

on this day the best of grants,

and make all our prayers on this طلبة، وأنجح لنا فيه كل

day responded,

كما وهبت الحسين ه،د جدلمحم

in the same way as You gifted

al-°usayn to Mu¦ammad: his

grandfather,

وعاذ فطرس بمهده،and in the same way as the

angels Futrus sought refuge

with his (i.e. al-°usayn) cradle

we are thus seeking refuge withفنحن عائذون بقبره من

his tomb after him (i.e. his


(martyrdom بعده

نشهد تربته وننتظر أوبته،

as we are witnessing the soil of

him and expecting his return.

Respond to us; O the Lord of .العالمين آمين رب

the worlds.

After that, you may recite the Du`a' al-°usayn, which is the last supplication

uttered by Imam °usain (a.s) when his enemies surrounded him in large numbers

on the Day of `ªsh£ra’ (the tenth of Mu¦arram, AH 61):

أنت متعالي لهمال المكان،

O Allah: You are verily the

Elevated in position,

the Magnificent in عظيم الجبروت،

omnipotence,

,the Mighty in prowess شديد المحال،

the Self-Sufficient from the عن الخالئق، غني

creatures,

,the Ample in pride عريض الكبرياء،

the Powerful over all that قادر على ما تشاء،

which You want,

,the Close in mercy حمة،قريب الر

,the Truthful in promise صادق الوعد،

,the Opulent in favors عمة،سابغ الن

,the Sympathetic in ordeals البالء،حسن

the Nigh when Your are قريب إذا دعيت،

prayed,

the All-encompassing of all محيط بما خلقت،

that which You have created,

وبة لمن تاب قابل الت إليك،

the Accepter of the

repentance of him who

repents to You,

the Powerful to do whatever قادر على ما أردت،


You want,

the Taker in all that which ومدرك ما طلبت،

You decide,

the Thankful for those who وشكور إذا شكرت،

thank You,

the Rememberer of those who وذكور إذا ذكرت،

mention You.

;I pray You for I need You أدعوك محتاجا،

and I desire for You for I am وأرغب إليك فقيرا،

in want of You;

and I resort to You for I am وأفزع إليك خائفا،

terrified;

and I weep before You for I مكروبا،وأبكي إليك

am distressed;

and I seek Your aid for I am وأستعين بك ضعيفا،

weak;

and I depend upon You for I ل عليك كافيا،وأتوك

trust in none save You;

احكم بيننا وبين قومنا ،بالحق

(please do) decide between

our people and us with the

truth,

,for they have deceived us ونا وخدعوناهم غرفإن

cheated us,

وخذلونا وغدروا بنا وقتلونا،

disappointed us, betrayed us,

and killed us.

We are verily the progeny of كونحن عترة نبي

Your Prophet,

and the sons of Your beloved وولد حبيبك

one,

namely Mu¦ammad ibn د بن عبداللهمحم

`Abdullah,

whom You have chosen for سالة ذي اصطفيته بالرال

the Divine Mission

and for keeping Your على وحيك، وائتمنته

Revelation.

So, (please so) prepare a wayمن أمرنا فرجا فاجعل لنا

out and a relief for us,


ومخرجا

برحمتك يا أرحم .الراحمين

out of Your mercy; O the

most Merciful of all those

who show mercy.


Ayyame Bayz (13th

, 14th and 15th

nights of Sha’ban)

13th

, 14th

and 15th

of Rajab, Sha’aan and Ramdhan are known as

“Ayyaam-e-Bayz” (the days of surpassing splendor). Imam Jafar bin Muhammad Sadiq (as) has said: "Whoso prays during the nights of

“Ayyam Bayz”, in fact, stands at the door of superabundant favours,

bounties and benefits available in these months"

It is highly desirable to observe fast on 13, 14 and 15, have a bath each day,

and give alms in the way of Allah.

In the night of “Ayyam Bayz” pray a 12 Rak-a’t Salat /Namaz as under

(i) In the night of the 13th

pray 2 Rak-a’t:

In each Rak-a’t recite Surah Al Fatih’ah, Surah Al Yaa Seen,

Surah Al Mulk and Sura Ikhlass.

(ii) In the night of the 14th

pray 4 Rak-a’t: in 2 sets of 2 of 2 Rak-a’t,

each exactly as (i)

(iii) In the night of the 15th

pray 6 Rak-a’t: in 3 sets of 2 of 2 Rak-a’t,

each exactly as (i)


15th

Night of Sha`ban

Merits of the night of 15th

Sha’ban:

Imam Ja`far al-¯adiq (a.s) has narrated that when Imam Muhammad al-Baqir (a.s)

was asked about the merits of the fifteenth night of Sha`ban, he answered, “It is the

most favorable night after the Qadr Night. At this night, Allah (swt) bestows upon

His servants with His favors and grants them His pardon.

Therefore, you should exert all efforts for seeking nearness to Allah (swt) at this

night, because He—Majestic and Honorable is He—has decided not to reject and

beggar so long as an act of disobedience is asked.

Allah (swt) has chosen this night for us, the Ahl al-Bayt, in the same way as He has

chosen the Qadr Night for our Prophet—peace be upon him and his Family. You

should thus pray Allah (swt) and thank Him diligently.”

The Holy Prophet (saws) has said that during the night of 15th Sha’ban, Allah (swt)

takes decisions in the matters of sustenance, life and death and welfare of the

people.

Also, at the dawn of this night, the 12th Imam, Imam Mohammed Mahdi (atfs) was

born in Samarrah in the year 255 AH.

It is highly recommended to spend this whole night with acts of worship, prayers,

supplications, invocations and prayers for forgiveness. A °ad¢th has confirmed that

as for one who spends this whole night with acts of worship, his heart will not die

when other hearts die.

The first thing that that Salik (the Wayfarer on the path towards Allah, Glorified

and Exalted is He) must perform on this night is that he must remove the material

pleasures and enjoyments of this world from in front of his eyes (and from his

heart) and in order to make the most of this special night and ensure that all of his

actions are performed properly.

He must think to himself that tonight is his last night on this Earth (meaning that

tomorrow he shall die) and thus, he will no longer have the opportunity to perform

any more good deeds and that tomorrow the Day of Judgment will take place.


Recommneded Acts for the Night of 15th

Sha’ban:

Take Ghusl (Bath) with the thought of washing away sins & as if it ’s your

last Ghusl

It is recommended to mention Allah (swt) by the following invocation

one hundred times so that one’s past acts of disobedience to Allah (swt)

will be forgiven and one’s worldly and religious needs will be settled:

;All glory be to Allah سبحان الله،

;all praise be to Allah والحمد لله،

there is no god save الله، وال إله إال

Allah;

;Allah is the Greatest والله أكبر،

Recite 100 times 'Astaghfirullah ' with attention to seeking forgiveness.

Ziyarah of Imam Husain for the night of 15th

Sha`ban

In his book of ‘al-Balad al-Amin’, Shaykh al-Kaf`amiy has reported Imam al-

¯adiq (a.s) as saying that one may stop at the holy tomb of Imam al -°usayn

(a.s) and say the following:

All praise be to Allah; the Most ألحمد هلل العلي العظيم

High, the All-great.

والسالم عليك أيها العبد الح الزكيالص

Peace be upon you; O the righteous,

pure servant (of Allah).

ي لك اودعك شهادة منتقربني إليك في يوم

شفاعتك،

I entrust with you a testimony of

mine that takes me near you on the

day of your intercession (for some

people).

I bear witness that although you قتلت ولم تمت أشهد أنك

were slain, you have not died;

بل برجاء حياتك حييت قلوب شيعتك،

Rather the hearts of your adherents

(Sh¢`ah) are living on the hope of

your being alive;

وبضياء نورك اهتدى البون إليك،الط

And by the light of your

illumination have those seeking you

been guided (to the right path).

وأشهد أنك نور اهلل الذي لم يطفأ وال يطفأ أبدا،

And I bear witness that you are

verily the Light of Allah that has not

and shall never be extinguished.

وأنك وجه اهلل الذي لم يهلك وال يهلك أبدا،

And you are verily the Face of Allah

that has not and shall never be

perishing.

وأشهد أن هذه التربة تربتك،

And I bear witness that this soil is

yours,

.And this holy precinct is yours وهذا الحرم حرمك،


And this death is the death of your وهذا المصرع مصرع بدنك

body only,

While you have never been واهلل معزك ال ذليل

humiliated since Allah is the One

Who is pouring honor upon you

And you have never been defeated وال مغلوب واهلل ناصرك،

since Allah is the One Who is

supporting you.

هذه شهادة لي عندك إلى يوم قبض روحي بحضرتك،

I would like you to keep this

testimony of mine with you up to the

day when my soul will be grasped in

the presence of you.

والسالم عليكم ورحمة اهلل .وبركاته

Peace and Allah’s mercy and

blessings be upon you.


Supplication as a form of Ziyarah for the 12th

Imam

It is recommended to recite the following supplication, which stand for a form of

Ziyarah for the Concealed Imam al-Mahdi (a.s). this supplication has been

mentioned by both Sayyid Ibn ±aw£s and Shaykh al-±£siy:

O Allah: I beseech You in the

name of this night and in the

name of him whom was born

at it

ليلتنا هذه بحق اللهم ومولودها

and in the name of Your

Argument and in the name of

Your promise in it, تك وموعودها،وحج

the night that You have added

a new merit to its many merits

تي قرنت إلى فضلها ال ،فضال

So, Your Word has been

accomplished truly and fairly;

ت كلمتك صدقا فتم ،وعدال

no one can change Your

words, ل لكلماتك،ال مبد

nor obscure Your signs, ب آلياتك،وال معق (He is) Your glowing Light ق،نورك المتأل and Your bring splendor ،وضياؤك المشرق

and the luminous sign in the

obscurity of darkness

ور في طخياء والعلم الن يجور،الد

and the absent and the

concealed, المستورالغائب

Lofty is his birth and noble is

his lineage

مولده، وكرم جل محتده،

and the angels are his

witnesses ده،والمالئكة شه


and Allah is his Supporter and

Backer ده،والله ناصره ومؤي

when his time comes and the

angels shall be his sponsors;

إذا آن ميعاده والمالئكة أمداده،

(He shall act as) the sword of

Allah that shall never miss the

target, ذي ال ينبو،سيف الله ال

and His light that shall never

be extinguished يخبو،ذي الونوره ال

And the forbearing person who

shall never deviate the truth.

ذي ال وذو الحلم ال يصبو،

and the motive and reason of

the course of events, هر،مدار الد

and the one for whom the laws

of ages have been made ،ونواميس العصر

and (one of) the men of

authority ووالة األمر،

who receive that which is

revealed on the Grand Night.

ل عليهم ما والمنز ل في ليلة القدر،يتنز

and the managers of the

Resurrection and the Account;

وأصحاب الحشر شر،والن

(They are) the interpreters of

His revelations تراجمة وحيه،

and in charge of what is

deemed lawful and what is

deemed unlawful by Him. .ووالة أمره ونهيه

O Allah: send blessings on

their seal and their Riser

على صلف اللهم خاتمهم وقائمهم

whom is hidden from their

world. .المستور عن عوالمهم

O Allah: (please) make us

causes for the coming of him, وأدرك بنا أيامه اللهم


and causes for his advent and

reappearance وظهوره وقيامه،

and (please) include us with

his supporters واجعلنا من أنصاره،

and join our vengeance to his ،واقرن ثأرنا بثأره

and decide us to be among his

assistants and retinue.

واكتبنا في أعوانه ئه،وخلصا

and make us live in bliss in his

reign,

وأحينا في دولته ناعمين،

and make us win the ecstasy of

his companionship, وبصحبته غانمين،

and make us of those who

carry out our duty toward him, ه قائمين،وبحق

and save us from evil. وء سالمين،ومن الس O the most Merciful of all

those who show mercy. يا أرحم الراحمين،

All praise be to Allah, Lord of

the worlds.

والحمد لله رب العالمين،

His blessings be upon our

master, Mu¦ammad

دنا وصلواته على سي د محم

the seal of the Prophets and

the Messengers,

ين بيخاتم الن والمرسلين

and upon his Household, the

veracious,

بيته وعلى أهل الصادقين

and his offspring, the

spokespersons of the truth, وعترته الناطقين،

and curse all the wrongdoers ،والعن جميع الظالمين


and judge between them and

us واحكم بيننا وبينهم

O the Most Just of all judges. أحكم الحاكمين يا.


Shaykh Isma`¢l ibn Fa¤l al-Hashimiy has narrated that Imam Ja`far al-¯adiq (a.s)

instructed him to recite the following supplication at the fifteenth night of Sha`ban:

O Allah: You are verily the ومالقي أنت الحي اللهم

Ever-living, the Self-Subsisting,

,the Most High, the All-great العظيم العلي

,the Creator, the Sustainer الخالق الرازق

the Giver of live, the Causer of المحيي المميت

death,

.the Originator, the Maker البديء البديع،

To You is the Majesty لك الجالل،

,and to You is the favor فضل،ولك ال

,and to You is all praise ولك الحمد،

,and to You is thanks ،ولك المن

,and to You is magnanimity ولك الجود،

,and to You is generosity ولك الكرم،

,and to You do belong all affairs ولك األمر،

,and to You is glory ولك المجد،

;and to You is gratitude كر،ولك الش

You are alone without having وحدك ال شريك لك،

any partner with You.

O the One: O the Absolute: O يا واحد يا أحد يا صمد

the Besought of all:

O He Who neither begets nor is يا من لم يلد ولم يولد

He begotten,

.and there is none like to Him ولم يكن له كفوا أحد،

دد وآل محمعلى محم صل(please do) bless Mu¦ammad

and the Household of

Mu¦ammad


and forgive me; and have mercy لي وارحمنيواغفر

upon me;

and relieve me from whatever نيواكفني ما أهم

has aggrieved me;

;and help me settle my debt واقض ديني،

;and expand my provisions في رزقي، ع عليووس

أمر يلة كلاللك في هذه فإن حكيم تفرق،

for You, at this night, make

distinct all affairs of wisdom;

ومن تشاء من خلقك ترزق،and You grant sustenance to

whomever You wish among

Your creatures.

فارزقني وأنت خير الرازقين،So, (please do) grant me

sustenance and You are verily

the Best of sustainers.

ك قلت وأنت خير فإن :القائلين الناطقين

You have said—and You are the

Best of those who speak and

utter—

”.Ask Allah of His bounty“ (واسألوا الله من فضله)

;I thus ask You of Your bounty فمن فضلك أسأل،

;and to You do I turn my face وإياك قصدت،

and the intercession of Your ك اعتمدت،وابن نبي

Prophet’s son do I seek;

.and for You do I hope ولك رجوت،

.رحمني يا أرحم الراحمينفاSo, (please do) have mercy upon

me; O the most Merciful of all

those who show mercy.


It is recommended to say this supplication, which the Holy Prophet (a.s) used to

recite at this night:

O Allah: (please do) grant us an اقسم لنا من خشيتك اللهم

amount of fearfulness of You

that prevents us from committing ما يحول بيننا وبين معصيتك،

acts of disobedience to You;

غنا به ومن طاعتك ما تبل رضوانك،

and an amount of obedience to

You that makes us attain Your

satisfaction;

ومن اليقين ما يهون علينا به .نيامصيبات الد

and an amount of conviction that

help us tolerate the vicissitudes

of this worldly life.

أسماعنا وأبصارنا أمتعنا ب اللهم تناوقو

O Allah: (please do) make us

enjoy our hearings, sights, and

powers

ما أحييتنا واجعله الوارث منا،so long as You decide to keep us

alive; and (please do) make it the

inheritor of us.

ثأرنا على من ظلمنا،واجعل And (please do) make us avenge

ourselves against them who

wrong us;

and back us against them who وانصرنا على من عادانا،

antagonize us;

and do not suffer misfortunes in وال تجعل مصيبتنا في ديننا،

affairs of our religion;

نا وال نيا أكبر هموال تجعل الد مبلغ علمنا،

and do not make our worldly

affairs happen to be our greatest

concern or our utmost

knowledge;

and do set him who does not have ط علينا من ال يرحمنا،وال تسل

mercy upon us as master over us;

.أرحم الراحمين برحمتك ياin the name of Your mercy; O the

most Merciful of all those who

show mercy.

Actually, this supplication is one of the perfect, comprehensive prayers that may be

recited at all times. In the word of the book of ‘`Awal¢ al-La’al¢’, the Holy Prophet

(a.s) used to recite this supplication at all times.


Du`a Kumayl

It is recommended to recite the famous Du`a' Kumayl (The Supplication of Kumayl

ibn Ziyad):

الرحيم الرحمن الله بسمIn the Name of Allah, the

All-merciful, the All-

compassionate

برحمتك أسألك يإن اللهم شيء كل وسعت يالت

O Allah, I ask You by Your

mercy, which embraces all

things;

بها قهرتي الت وبقوتك شيء كل

And by Your strength,

through which You

dominatest all things,

And toward which all things شيء كل لها وخضع

are humble

And before which all things شيء كل لها وذل

are lowly;

بها غلبت يالت وبجبروتك شيء كل

And by Your invincibility

through which You

overwhelmest all things,

لها يقوم ال يالت وبعزتك شيء

And by Your might, which

nothing can resist;

كل مألت يالت وبعظمتك شيء

And by Your

tremendousness, which has

filled all things;

كل عال يالذ وبسلطانك شيء

by Your force, which towers

over all things;

فناء بعد يالباق وبوجهك شيء كل

And by Your face, which

subsists after the annihilation

of all things,

مألت يالت وبأسمائكAnd by Your Names, which

have filled the foundations of

all things;


شيء كل أركان

بكل أحاط يالذ وبعلمك شيء

And by Your knowledge,

which encompasses all

things;

له أضاء يالذ وجهك وبنور شيء كل

And by the light of Your

face, through which all

things are illumined!

!O Light! O All-holy قدوس يا نور يا

O First of those who are first األولين أول يا

And O Last of those who are اآلخرين آخر ويا

last!

الذنوب يل اغفر اللهم العصم تهتك يالت

O Allah, forgive me those

sins which tear apart

safeguards!

الذنوب يل اغفر اللهم النقم تنزل يالت


sins which draw down

adversities!

الذنوب يل اغفر اللهم النعم تغير يالت


sins which alter blessings!

الذنوب يل اغفر اللهم الدعاء تحبس يالت

O Allah forgive me those

sins which hold back

supplication!

الذنوب يل اغفر اللهم الرجاء تقطع يالت

O Allah forgive me those

sins which cut down the

hopes!

الذنوب يل اغفر اللهم البالء تنزل يالت


sins which draw down

tribulation!

ذنب كل يل اغفر اللهم ةخطيئ وكل أذنبته

O Allah, forgive me every

sin I have committed and

every mistake I have made!


أخطأتها

إليك أتقرب يإن اللهم بذكرك

O Allah, verily I seek

nearness to You through

remembrance of You,

And I seek intercession from نفسك يإل بك وأستشفع

You with Yourself,

أن بجودك وأسألك قربك من يتدنين

And I ask You through Your

munificence to bring me near

to Your proximity,

And to provide me with شكرك يتوزعن وأن

gratitude toward You

And to inspire me with Your ذكرك يتلهمن وأن

remembrance.

سؤال أسألك يإن اللهم أن خاشع متذلل خاضع

يوترحمن يتسامحن

O Allah, verily I ask You

with the asking of a

submissive, abased and lowly

man to show me forbearance,

to have mercy on me

راضيا بقسمك يوتجعلن األحوال جميع يوف قانعا،

متواضعا

And to make me satisfied and

content with Your

appointment and [make me]

humble in every state.

من سؤال وأسألك اللهم فاقته اشتدت

O Allah, I ask You the

question of one whose

indigence is extreme,

الشدائد عند بك وأنزل حاجته

And who has stated to You in

difficulties his need

And whose desire for what is رغبته عندك فيما وعظم

with You has become great.

وعال سلطانك عظم اللهم مكانك

O Allah, Your force is

tremendous, Your place is

lofty,


أمرك وظهر مكرك يوخفAnd Your deception is

hidden, Your command is

manifest,

وجرت قهرك وغلب قدرتك

And Your domination is

overwhelming, Your power

is unhindered

من الفرار يمكن وال حكومتك

And escape from Your

governance is impossible.

O Allah, I find no forgiver of غافرا يلذنوب أجد ال اللهم

my sins,

Nor concealer of my ugly ساترا يلقبائح وال

acts

يعمل من لشيء وال مبدال بالحسن القبيح غيرك

Nor transformer of any of my

ugly acts into good acts but

You

!There is no god but You أنت إال إله ال

Glory be to You, and Thine وبحمدك سبحانك

is the praise!

,I have wronged myself ينفس ظلمت

And I have been audacious in يبجهل وتجرأت

my ignorance

ذكرك قديم يإل وسكنت علي ومنك يل

And I have depended upon

Your ancient remembrance of

me and Your favour toward

me.

!O Allah! O my Protector يموال اللهم

How many ugly things You سترته قبيح من كم

hast concealed!

البالء من فادح من وكم أقلته

How many burdensome

tribulations You hast

abolished!

And how many stumbles You وقيته عثار من وكم


hast prevented!

And how many ordeals You دفعته مكروه من وكم

hast repelled!

لست جميل ثناء من وكم نشرته له أهال

And how much beautiful

praise, for which I was

unworthy, You hast spread

abroad!

O Allah, my tribulation is يبالئ عظم اللهم

tremendous,

And my bad state is يحال سوء يب وأفرط

excessive,

,And my acts are inadequate يأعمال يب وقصرت

And my fetters have tied me يأغالل يب وقعدت

down,

بعد ينفع عن يوحبسن يآمال

And my far-fetched hopes

have held me back from my

gain

بغرورها الدنيا يوخدعتن يومطال بجنايتها يونفس

And this world with its

delusions, my own soul with

its offences and my delay

have deceived me.

بعزتك فأسألك يسيد يا يدعائ عنك يحجب ال أن

يوفعال يعمل سوء

O my Master! So I ask You

by Your might not to let my

evil works and acts veil my

supplication from You,

ما بخفي يتفضحن وال يسر من عليه اطلعت

And not to disgrace me

through the hidden things

You knowest of my secrets

على بالعقوبة يتعاجلن وال يخلوات يف عملته ما

And not to hasten me to

punishment for what I have

done in private:

My evil acts in secrecy and وإساءتي، يفعل سوء من

my misdeeds

And my continuous يوجهالت يتفريط ودوام

negligence and my ignorance


And my manifold passions يوغفلت يشهوات وكثرة

and my forgetfulness.

يف يل بعزتك اللهم وكن رؤوفا األحوال كل

And by Your might, O Allah,

be kind to me in all states

األمور جميع يف وعلي عطوفا

And be gracious to me in all

affairs!

غيرك يل من يورب يإله والنظر يضر كشف أسأله

!أمري يف

My God and my Lord! Have

I any but You from whom to

ask removal of my affliction

and regard for my affairs!

علي أجريت يوموال يإله هوى فيه اتبعت حكما

نفسي،

My God and my Protector!

You put into effect through

me a decree in which I

followed the caprice of my

own soul

من فيه أحترس ولم عدوي، تزيين

And [I] did not remain wary

of adorning my enemy.

وأسعده أهوى ابم يفغرن القضاء ذلك على

So he deluded me through

my soul's caprice and therein

destiny favoured him

علي جرى بما فتجاوزت حدودك بعض ذلك من

So, in what was put into

effect through me in that

situation, I transgressed some

of Your statutes

And disobeyed some of Your أوامرك بعض وخالفت

commands.

يف علي الحجة فلك ذلك جميع

So Thine is the argument

against me in all of that

يجر فيما يل حجة وال قضاؤك، فيه علي

I have no argument in what

Your destiny put into effect

through me therein


وبالؤك حكمك يوألزمنnor in what Your decree and

Your tribulation imposed

upon me.

بعد يإله يا أتيتك وقد على يوإسراف يتقصير

ينفس

Now I have come to You, My

God, after my shortcoming

and my immoderation toward

myself,

,Proffering my excuse نادما، معتذرا

regretful,

,Broken, apologizing مستقيال منكسرا

,Asking forgiveness منيبا، مستغفرا

repenting,

,Acknowledging, submissive معترفا مذعنا مقرا

confessing.

I find no place to flee from يمن كان مما مفرا أجد ال

what occurred through me,

يف إليه أتوجه مفزعا وال يأمر

Nor any place of escape to

which I may turn in my

affairs,

عذري، قبولك غير سعة يف يإيا وإدخالك

رحمتك من

Other than Your acceptance

of my excuse and Your

entering me into the compass

of Your mercy.

O Allah, so accept my يعذر فاقبل اللهم

excuse,

Have mercy upon the يضر شدة وارحم

severity of my affliction

And release me from the يوثاق شد من يوفكن

tightness of my fetters,

ي بدن ضعف ارحم رب يا يعظم ودقةي جلد ورقة

My Lord, have mercy upon

the weakness of my body, the

thinness of my skin and the

frailty of my bones.

يوذكر يخلق بدأ من ياO You who gave rise to my

creation, to the remembrance

of me, to the nurture of me,


to goodness toward me and يوتغذيت يوبر يوتربيت

to nourishment on me,

كرمك البتداء يهبن يب برك وسالف

Bestow upon me for the sake

of Your having given rise [to

me] with generosity and

Your previous goodness to

me!

O Allah, my Master and my يورب يوسيد يإله يا

Lord!

بعد بنارك يمعذب أتراك توحيدك

Canst You see Yourself

tormenting me with Your fire

after I have professed Your

Unity

يقلب عليه انطوى ما وبعد معرفتك من

And after the knowledge of

You my heart has embraced,

ذكرك من يلسان به ولهجAnd the remembrance of You

my tongue has constantly

mentioned

من يضمير واعتقده حبك

And the love of You to which

my mind has clung,

ياعتراف صدق وبعد لربوبيتك خاضعا يودعائ

And after the sincerity of my

confession and my

supplication, humble before

Your lordship?

أن من أكرم أنت هيهات ربيته من تضيع

Far be it from You! You art

more generous than that You

shouldst squander him whom

You hast nurtured,

Or banish him whom You أدنيته من تبعد أو

hast brought nigh,

Or drive away him whom آويته من تشرد أو

You hast given an abode

من البالء إلى تسلم أو ورحمته كفيته

Or submit to tribulation him

whom You hast spared and

shown mercy.

Would that I knew, my يسيد يا يشعر وليت

Master, My God and my


,Protector يوموال يوإله

وجوه على النار أتسلط ساجدة لعظمتك خرت

Whether You wilt give the

Fire dominion over faces

fallen down prostrate before

Your Tremendousness,

نطقت ألسن وعلى صادقة بتوحيدك مادحة وبشكرك

And over tongues voicing

sincerely the profession of

Your Unity and giving thanks

to You in praise,

اعترفت قلوب وعلى محققة بإلهيتك

And over hearts

acknowledging Your

Divinity through verification,

من حوت ضمائر وعلى صارت حتى بك العلم

خاشعة

And over minds

encompassing knowledge of

You until they have become

humble

إلى سعت جوارح وعلى طائعة تعبدك أوطان

باستغفارك وأشارت مذعنة

And over bodily members

speeding to the places of

Your worship in obedience

and beckoning for Your

forgiveness in submission.

وال بك الظن هكذا ما عنك بفضلك أخبرنا

No such opinion is held of

You! Nor has such been

reported - thanks to Your

bounty — concerning You,

,O All-generous! My Lord رب يا كريم، اي

عن يضعف تعلم وأنت الدنيا بالء من قليل

وعقوباتها،

And You knowest my

weakness before a little of

this world's tribulations and

punishments,

And before those ordeals من فيها ييجر وما


,which befall its inhabitants أهلها على المكاره

ومكروه، بالء ذلك أن على بقاؤه، يسير مكثه، قليل مدته قصير

Even though it is a

tribulation and ordeal whose

stay is short, whose

subsistence is but little and,

whose period is but fleeting.

لبالء ياحتمال فكيف وقوع وجليل اآلخرة

!فيها المكاره

So how can I endure the

tribulations of the next world

and the great ordeals that

occur within it?

،مدته تطول بالء وهو يخفف وال مقامه، ويدوم

أهله عن

For it is a tribulation whose

period is long, whose station

endures and whose sufferers

are given no respite,

عن إال يكون ال ألنه وانتقامك غضبك

وسخطك

Since it only occurs as a

result of Your wrath, Your

vengeance and Your anger,

له تقوم ال ما وهذا واألرض السماوات

And these cannot be

withstood by the heavens and

the earth.

O Master, so what about يب فكيف يسيد يا

me?!

الذليل الضعيف عبدك وأنا المسكين الحقير

المستكين

For I am Your weak, lowly,

base, wretched and miserable

slave.

يوسيد يورب يإله يا يوموال

My God! My Lord! My

Master! My Protector!

For which things would I أشكو إليك األمور ألي

complain to You?


And for which of them would يوأبك أضج منها ولما

I lament and weep?

For the pain and severity of !وشدته العذاب ألليم

chastisement?

Or for the length and period !ومدته البالء لطول أم

of tribulation?

للعقوبات يصيرتن فلئن أعدائك مع

So if You takest me to the

punishments with Your

enemies,

أهل وبين يبين وجمعت بالئك

And gatherest me with the

people of Your tribulation

أحبائك وبين يبين وفرقت وأوليائك

And separatest me from Your

friends and saints,

يوسيد يإله يا يفهبن على صبرت يورب يوموال

عذابك،

Then suppose, My God, my

Master, my Protector and my

Lord that I am able to endure

Your chastisement,

How can I endure separation فراقك على أصبر فكيف

from You?

حر على صبرت يوهبن نارك،

And suppose that I am able

to endure the heat of Your

fire,

إلى النظر عن أصبر فكيف كرامتك

How can I endure not gazing

upon Your generosity?

النار يف أسكن كيف أم عفوك يورجائ

Or how can I dwell in the

Fire while my hope is Your

pardon?

يوموال يسيد يا فبعزتك يتركتن لئن صادقا، أقسم

So by Your might, my

Master and my protector, I

swear sincerely, if You

leavest me with speech,


ناطقا

أهلها بين إليك ألضجن اآلملين ضجيج

I will lament to You from the

midst of the Fire's inhabitants

with lamentation of the

hopeful;

اخصر إليك وألصرخن المستصرخين

I will cry to You with the cry

of those crying for help;

بكاء عليك وألبكين الفاقدين

I will weep to You with the

weeping of the bereft;

يا كنت أين وألنادينك المؤمنين ولي

And I will call to You,

Where art You, O Sponsor of

the believers,

O Goal of the hopes of Your العارفين آمال غاية يا

knowers,

O Aid of those who seek المستغيثين غياث يا

assistance,

O Friend of the hearts of the الصادقين قلوب حبيب يا

sincere

And O God of all the world's العالمين إله ويا

inhabitants!

يإله يا سبحانك أفتراك، فيها تسمع وبحمدك،

مسلم عبد صوت

Canst You see Yourself —

Glory be to You My God,

and Thine is the praised —

hearing within the Fire the

voice of a slave surrendered

to You,

Imprisoned there because of بمخالفته فيها سجن

his violations,

عذابها طعم وذاق بمعصيته

Tasting the favour of its

torment because of his

disobedience,

أطباقها بين وحبس وجريرته بجرمه

And confined within its

levels because of his sin and

crime,


ضجيج إليك يضج وهو لرحمتك مؤمل

While he laments to You

with the lament of one

hopeful for Your mercy,

أهل بلسان ويناديك توحيدك

And calls to You with the

tongue of those who profess

Your Unity

And entreats You by Your بربوبيتك إليك ويتوسل

lordship!

يف يبقى فكيف يموال يا سلف ما يرجو وهو العذاب

حلمك من

My Protector, so how should

he remain in the

chastisement, while he has

hope for Your previous

clemency?

وهو النار تؤلمه كيف أم ورحمتك فضلك يامل

Or how should the Fire cause

him pain while he expects

Your bounty and mercy?

لهيبها يحرقه كيف أم وترى صوته تسمع وأنت مكانه

Or how should its flames

burn him, while You hearest

his voice and seest his place?

عليه يشتمل كيف أم ضعفه تعلم وأنت زفيرها

Or how should its groaning

encompass him, while You

knowest his weakness?

بين يتقلقل كيف أم صدقه تعلم وأنت أطباقها

Or how should he be

convulsed among its levels,

while You knowest his

sincerity?

زبانيتها تزجره كيف أم ربه يا يناديك وهو

Or how should its keepers

torture him while he calls out

to You, O Lord?

يف فضلك يرجو كيف أم فيها فتتركه منها عتقه

Or how should he have hope

of Your bounty in freeing

him from it, while You

abandonest him within it?


Far be it from You! That is بك الظن ذلك ما هيهات

not what is expected of You,

Nor what is well-known of فضلك من المعروف وال

Your bounty,

به عاملت لما مشبه وال برك من الموحدين وإحسانك

Nor it is similar to the

goodness and kindness You

hast shown to those who

profess Your Unity.

ما لوال أقطع فباليقين تعذيب من به حكمت

جاحديك

So I declare with certainty

that were it not for what You

hast decreed concerning the

chastisement of Your deniers

إخالد من به وقضيت معانديك

And what You hast

foreordained concerning the

everlasting home of those

who stubbornly resist,

بردا كلها النار لجعلت وسالما،

You wouldst make the Fire,

all of it, coolness and safety,

مقرا فيها ألحد كان وما مقاما وال

And no one would have a

place of rest or abode within

it.

أسماؤك تقدست لكنك من تمألها أن أقسمت

الكافرين،

But You—holy are Your

Names—hast sworn that You

wilt fill it with the

unbelievers,

,Both Jinn and men together أجمعين والناس الجنة من

المعاندين فيها تخلد وأنAnd that You wilt place

those who stubbornly resist

therein forever.

قلت ثناؤك جل وأنت باإلنعام وتطولت مبتدئا،

And You— majestic is Your

eulogy— said at the

beginning and wernt gracious

through kindness as a favour,


:متكرما

(What? Is he who has been

believer like unto him who

has been ungodly? They are

not equal)

فأسألك يوسيد يإله قدرتها يالت بالقدرة

My God and my Master! So I

ask You by the power You

hast apportioned

حتمتها يالت وبالقضية عليه من وغلبت وحكمتها أجريتها

And by the decision which

You hast determined and

imposed and through which

You hast overcome him

toward whom it has been put

into effect,

هذه يف لي، تهب أن الساعة هذه يوف الليلة،

That You forgivest me in this

night and at this hour

Every offence I have أجرمته جرم كل

committed,

And every sin I have أذنبته ذنب وكل

performed,

And every ugly thing I have أسررته قبيح وكل

concealed

And every folly I have عملته، جهل وكل

enacted

Whether I have hidden or أعلنته، أو كتمته

announced it,

Or I have concealed it or أظهرته أو أخفيته

manifested it

بإثباتها أمرت سيئة وكل الكاتبين الكرام

And every evil act which

You hast commanded the

Noble Writers to record,

ما بحفظ وكلتهم الذين مني يكون

Those whom You hast

appointed to watch over what

appears from me

,And whom You hast made مع علي شهودا وجعلتهم

along with my bodily


members, witness against جوارحي،

me.

علي الرقيب أنت وكنت ورائهم، من

And You wast Yourself the

Watcher over me from

behind them,

And the Witness of what is عنهم، يخف لما والشاهد

hidden from them

But through Your mercy You أخفيته، وبرحمتك

concealed it

And through Your bounty سترته وبفضلك

You veiled it.

كل من يحظ توفر وأن تنزله، خير

[And I ask You] that You

bestowest upon me an

abundant share of every good

You sendest down,

,Or kindness You conferrest تفضله إحسان أو

,Or goodness You unfoldest تنشره، بر أو

Or provision You spreadest تبسطه رزق أو

out,

,Or sin You forgivest تغفره ذنب أو

.Or error You coverest تستره خطأ أو

My Lord! My Lord! My رب يا رب يا رب يا

Lord!

يوموال يوسيد يإله يا يرق ومالك

My God! My Master! My

Protector! Owner of my

bondage!

O He in whose hand is my يناصيت بيده من يا

forelock!

O He who knows my يومسكنت يبضر عليما يا

affliction and my misery!

O He who is aware of my يوفاقت يبفقر خبيرا يا

poverty and indigence!


Lord!

I ask You by Your Truth and وقدسك بحقك أسألك

Your Holiness


And the greatest of Your وأسمائك صفاتك وأعظم

Attributes and Names,

الليل يف يأوقات تجعل أن معمورة، بذكرك والنهار

That You makest my times in

the night and the day

inhabited by Your

remembrance,

And joined to Your service صولة،مو وبخدمتك

And my works acceptable to مقبولة، عندك يوأعمال

You,

يأعمال تكون حتى واحدا، وردا كلها يوأوراد

So that my works and my

litanies may all be a single

litany

And my occupation with سرمدا خدمتك يف يوحال

Your service everlasting.

عليه من يا سيدي، يا يمعول

My Master! O He upon

whom I depend!

O He to whom I complain يأحوال شكوت إليه من يا

about my states!


Lord!

Strengthen my bodily يجوارح خدمتك على قو

members in Your service,

العزيمة على واشدد يجوانح

And fortify my ribs in

determination

يف الجد يل وهب خشيتك

And bestow upon me

earnestness in my fear of

You

تصالاإل يف والدوام بخدمتك

And continuity in my being

joined to Your service

يف إليك أسرح حتى السابقين ميادين

So that I may move easily

toward You in the

battlefields of the foremost


يف إليك وأسرع المبادرين

And hurry to You among the

prominent

يف قربك إلى وأشتاق المشتاقين

And desire fervently Your

proximity among the

fervently desirous

And move nearer to You with المخلصين دنو منك وأدنو

the nearness of the sincere

And fear You with the fear of الموقنين مخافة وأخافك

those who have certitude

مع جوارك يف وأجتمع المؤمنين

And gather with the believers

in Your vicinity.

بسوء يأرادن ومن اللهم فأرده

O Allah, whoever desires evil

for me, desire [it] for him!

-whoever deceives me فكده يكادن ومن

deceive him!

أحسن من يواجعلن عندك نصيبا عبيدك

And make me one of the

most excellent of Your slaves

in Portion from You,

And the nearest of them in منك منزلة وأقربهم

station to You

And the most elected of them لديك زلفة وأخصهم

in proximity to You.

إال ذلك ينال ال فإنه بفضلك

For that cannot be attained

except by Your bounty.

And grant generously to me بجودك يل وجد

through Your munificence,

And incline toward me with بمجدك علي واعطف

Your splendour

And protect me with Your برحمتك يواحفظن

mercy!

And make my tongue بذكرك يلسان واجعل

remember You without


ceasing لهجا

And my heart enthralled by متيما بحبك يوقلب

Your love!

And be gracious to me by إجابتك بحسن علي ومن

answering me favourably,

And nullify my slips يعثرت يوأقلن

!And forgive my lapses يزلت واغفر

عبادك على قضيت فإنك بعبادتك

For You hast decreed Your

worship for Your servants

And commanded them to بدعائك وأمرتهم

supplicate You

And assured them that they اإلجابة لهم وضمنت

would be answered.

نصبت رب يا فإليك يوجه

So toward You, my Lord, I

have turned my face

And toward You, my Lord, I ييد مددت رب يا وإليك

have extended my hand.

يل استجب فبعزتك يدعائ

So by Your might, comply with

my supplication

And make me attain my يمنا يوبلغن

desires!

فضلك من تقطع وال يرجائ

Do not severe my hoping for

Your Favours

واإلنس الجن شر يواكفن يأعدائ من

And spare me the evil of my

enemies from among the jinn

and men!

O He, whose pleasure is الرضا سريع يا

quickly achieved!

Forgive him who owns إال يملك ال لمن اغفر

nothing but supplication


الدعاء

.For You dost what You wilt تشاء لما فعال فإنك

,O He whose Name is a remedy دواء اسمه من يا

And whose remembrance is a شفاء وذكره

cure,

And whose obedience is غنى وطاعته

wealth!

Have mercy upon him whose الرجاء ماله رأس من ارحم

capital is hope

!And whose weapon is tears البكاء وسالحه

!O Ample in blessings النعم سابغ يا

!O Repeller of adversities النقم دافع يا

يف المستوحشين نور يا الظلم

O Light of those who are

lonely in the darkness!

O Knower who was never يعلم ال عالما يا

taught!

وآل محمد على صل محمد

Bless Muhammad and

Muhammad's household!

And do with me what is أهله أنت ما يب وافعل

worthy of You!

رسوله على الله وصلى آله من الميامين واألئمة

And Allah bless His messenger

and the holy Imams of his

household

And give them abundant كثيرا تسليما وسلم

peace!


Imam Jaa’far bin Muhammad As Sadiq (A.S.) had advised the faithfuls to pray a 2

Raka’t Namaaz tonight, after Ishaa prayers, as under: In the first Raka’t

recite Soorah Al Faatih’ah and Soorah Al Kaafiroon. In the second Raka’t recite

Soorah Al Faatih’ah and Soorah Al Ikhlaas.

When you accomplish the prayer, you may repeat (the phrase of) ‘sub¦anallah’

thirty-three times, (the phrase of) ‘al¦amdulillah’ thirty-three times, and (the

phrase of) ‘allahu-akbar’ thirty-four times. You may then say the following

supplication:

O He to Whom the servants

(of Him) resort in urgencies

يا من إليه ملجأ العباد في المهمات،

and to Whom the creatures

turn in ordeals;

وإليه يفزع الخلق في الملمات،

O He Who knows the open

and the hidden matters; عالم الجهر والخفيات، يا

O He from Whom neither the

ideas of illusions nor the

initiatives of delusions can be

concealed;

يا من ال تخفى عليه ف خواطر األوهام وتصر

الخطرات، O the Lord of creatures and

beings; الخالئق والبريات، يارب

O He Who grasps the

kingdoms of the earth and the

heavens;

يا من بيده ملكوت ماوات،األرضين والس

You are verily Allah; there is

no god save You; أنت، أنت الله ال إله إال

I thus try to connect with you

in the name of ‘There is no

god save You’ أنت، إليك بال إله إال أمت

So, O He save Whom there is

no god: (please) include me at

this night with those at whom

You have looked and thus You

have mercy upon them;

أنت اجعلني فيا ال إله إالن نظرت يلة ممفي هذه الل

إليه فرحمته،


and with those whose prayers

have been heard by You and

thus You have responded to

them;

وسمعت دعاءه فأجبته،

and with those whose true

repentance has been admitted

by You and thus You have

accepted it;

وعلمت استقالته فأقلته،

and You have thus overlooked

their past sins and enormous

offenses.

وتجاوزت عن سالف خطيئته وعظيم جريرته،

verily, I am seeking Your

shelter against my sins,

فقد استجرت بك من ذنوبي،

and I am resorting to You so

that You may conceal my

defects.

ولجأت إليك في ستر .عيوبي

O Allah: (please) bestow

lavishly upon me with Your

generosity and Favor;

بكرمك فجد علي اللهم وفضلك،

and condone my misdeeds out

of Your forbearance and

pardon,

واحطط خطاياي بحلمك وعفوك،

and encompass me, at this

night, with Your opulent

honoring,

يلة دني في هذه اللوتغم بسابغ كرامتك،

and include me at this night

with Your intimate servants

whom You have selected for

obeying You,

واجعلني فيها من أوليائك ذين اجتبيتهم لطاعتك،ال

and whom You have chosen

for worshipping You, واخترتهم لعبادتك،

and whom You have made

Your elite and select people.

وجعلتهم خالصتك .وصفوتك


O Allah: (please) make me of

those whose efforts are of a

happy end,

ن سعد اجعلني مم اللهم ه،جد

and those whose shares of

good things are big, ه،ر من الخيرات حظفوتو

and make me of those who

enjoy blissful life as they have

been safe (from sins) ن سلم فنعم،واجعلني مم

and those who have been

awarded excellently as they

have won, وفاز فغنم،

and rescue me from the evil

consequences of what I have

committed, ما أسلفت، واكفني شر

and save me from doing more

acts of disobedience to You,

زدياد في واعصمني من اإل معصيتك،

and make me love the acts of

obedience to You and

whatever draws me near You

and approaches me toward

You.

طاعتك وما ب إليوحببني منك ويزلفني يقر

.عندكO my Master: a fugitive

resorts to none save You, دي إليك يلجأ الهارب،سي

and a needy begs none save

You, يلتمس الطالب،ومنك

and only on Your generosity

does a repentant, contrite one

depends

ل وعلى كرمك يعو المستقيل التائب،

You have disciplined Your

servants by means of

generosity; and You are verily

the most Generous of all those

who are generous.

م وأنت كربت عبادك بالتأد أكرم األكرمين،

and You have instructed Your

servants to pardon; and You

are verily the All-forgiving,

the All-merciful.

وأمرت بالعفو عبادك وأنت .حيمالغفور الر


O Allah: (please) do not

deprive me of Your generosity

for which I hope,

فال تحرمني ما اللهم رجوت من كرمك،

and do not make me despair of

Your opulent bounties,

وال تؤيسني من سابغ نعمك،

and do not disappoint me of

Your abundant sustenance that

You decide, this night, for

those who are obedient to

You,

بني من جزيل وال تخييلة قسمك في هذه الل

ألهل طاعتك،and include me with Your

protection against Your evil

creatures.

ة من شرار واجعلني في جن تك،بري

O my Lord: If I do not deserve

so, then You are worthy of

acting generously to me, and

pardoning and forgiving me,

إن لم أكن من أهل ربذلك فأنت أهل الكرم

والعفو والمغفرة،and (please) bestow upon me

magnanimously according to

that which befits You, not

according to what I deserve,

بما أنت أهله ال وجد علي ه،بما أستحق

verily, I carry an excellent

opinion about You, ي بك،فقد حسن ظن

and I do hope for You, ق رجائي لك،وتحق and my self is hanged to the

rope of Your generosity, وعلقت نفسي بكرمك

for You are verily the most

Merciful of all those who

show mercy, فأنت أرحم الراحمين،

and You are the most

Generous of all those who are

generous. .وأكرم األكرمين


O Allah: (please) confer upon

me exclusively with an

abundant share of what You

decide, out of Your

generosity,

واخصصني من اللهم كرمك بجزيل قسمك،

and I seek refuge with Your

pardon against Your

chastisement, وأعوذ بعفوك من عقوبتك،

and (please) forgive me the sin

that prevents me from

enjoying high morals,

ذي نب الواغفر لي الذ الخلق، يحبس علي

and suppresses my sustenance, الرزق ق عليويضي so that I will do that which

excellently achieves Your

satisfaction حتى أقوم بصالح رضاك،

and I will enjoy Your profuse

granting, وأنعم بجزيل عطائك،

and I will be delighted by

Your abundant bounties. غ نعمائك،وأسعد بساب

I am having recourse to Your

sanctity, فقد لذت بحرمك،

and I am asking for Your

generosity, ضت لكرمك،وتعر

and I am taking shelter in

Your pardon against Your

punishment,

واستعذت بعفوك من عقوبتك،

and in Your forbearance

against Your ire. وبحلمك من غضبك،

So, (please) bestow upon me

generously with that which I

have asked from You, فجد بما سألتك،

and confer upon me with that

which I have begged from

You, ت منك،وأنل ما التمس

I beseech You in Your name,

since there is nothing great

that You are.

أسألك بك ال بشيء هو .أعظم منك

You may prostrate yourself and repeat the following 20 times:


O my Lord! يا رب. And then repeat the following seven times:

O Allah! يا اهلل. And then repeat the following seven times:

There is neither might

nor power save with

Allah.

ة إالال حول وال قو .بالله

And then repeat the following ten times:

Only that which Allah

wants (will be). .اهللما شاء

And then repeat the following ten times:

There is no power save

with Allah. .بالله ة إالال قو

You may then pray Allah (swt) for sending blessings upon the Holy Prophet and

ask for settling your requests.


Shaykh al-±£siy and Shaykh al-Kaf`amiy say: It is suitable to say the following

supplication at this night; it is advisable to recite it after the Shaf prayer of Salatul

Layl.

ض لك في هذا إلهي تعر ضون،يل المتعرالل

O Allah: tonight the seekers of

favors, restless and eager, present

themselves to You;

the determined aspirers have You وقصدك القاصدون،

in mind;

ل فضلك ومعروفك وأم الطالبون،

those who make requests look

long and attentively at Your

obligingness and kindness;

يل نفحات ا اللولك في هذ وجوائز

You, in this night, give gifts,

bounties beyond measure,

,free donations, and favors وعطايا ومواهب

بها على من تشاء من تمن عبادك،

to those whom You will from

among Your servants when they

make a request,

وتمنعها من لم تسبق له العناية منك،

and say no to those who do not try

to get in advance (remain behind)

for obtaining the bounties from

You.

,I, a modest needy bondman وها أنا ذا عبيدك الفقير إليك

am hopeful of Your obligingness ل فضلك ومعروفك،المؤم

and kindness.

لت فإن كنت يا موالي تفضيلة على أحد من في هذه الل

خلقك

Indeed if You, O My Master,

bestows a favor on any one, in this

night, from among Your created

beings,

وعدت عليه بعائدة من عطفك

and multiply profits and gains for

him out of love and affection,


دد وآل محمعلى محم فصلplease send blessings upon

Mu¦ammad and the Household of

Mu¦ammad:

رين الطاهرين الخيبين يالط الفاضلين،

the pure, the immaculate, the

virtuous, and the righteous;

بطولك ومعروفك وجد عليand then let me have enough and

be contented on account of Your

liberality and obligingness,

!O Lord of the worlds العالمين، رب يا

د خاتم وصلى الله على محم ينبيالن

May Allah send blessings upon

Mu¦ammad, the seal of the

Prophets,

and upon his Household, the وآله الطاهرين

immaculate,

.and may He exalt them very much م تسليماوسل

verily, Allah is worthy of all .الله حميد مجيد إن

praise, full of all glory.

O Allah: I am praying You as You ي أدعوك كما أمرتإن اللهم

ordered me to do,

So, (please) respond to me as You فاستجب لي كما وعدت

promised.

verily, You never break Your .ك ال تخلف الميعادإن

promise.


Dua of Holy Prophet in Sajdah after Salatul Layl

Prostrating before You are

my body and my shadow

سجد لك سوادي وخيالي،

and my heart is in full faith

of You وآمن بك فؤادي،

These are my two hands

and this is what I have

committed against myself,

هذه يداي وما جنيته على نفسي،

O the All-great: You are

hoped for all enormous

things;

يا عظيم ترجى لكل عظيم

Please, forgive me my

serious offences اغفر لي العظيم

because none can forgive

the serious sin except the

All-great Lord.

نب العظيم ه ال يغفر الذفإن .العظيم بالر إال

The Holy Prophet (a.s) then raised his head and then prostrated himself again,

saying:

I seek the protection of the

light of Your Face that has

lit the heavens and the earth

ذي أعوذ بنور وجهك الماوات أضاءت له الس

واألرضون،and has removed all

darkness لمات،وانكشفت له الظ

and has made active all the

affairs of the past and the

coming generations

لين وصلح عليه أمر األو واآلخرين

against Your sudden

chastisement من فجأة نقمتك،

and against withdrawing the

good health that You have

granted me من تحويل عافيتك،و


and against the vanishing of

Your bounties. .ومن زوال نعمتك

O Allah: (please) grant me

a heart that is pious and

pure,

ارزقني قلبا تقيا اللهم نقيا

and is released from

polytheism, رك بريئا ومن الش

and is neither atheist nor

unhappy. .ال كافرا وال شقيا

The Holy Prophet (a.s) then attached his face to the ground and said:

I am putting my face on

the ground

رت وجهي في عف راب الت

and it is my duty to

prostrate myself before

You لي أن أسجد لك وحق


Salaat Ja’far Tayyar


Imam Muhammad Al Baqir and Imam Ja’far Sadiq (A.S.) used to pray a 4 Raka’t

Salaat tonight as under:

In Every Raka’t recite Soorah Al Faatih’ah 100 times and Soorah Al Ikhlass 100

times After the Salaam recite the following dua’a:

O Allah: I am in need for

You, ي إليك فقير،إن اللهم

and I am fearful of You and

seeking Your shelter against

Your chastisement.

ومن عذابك خائف .مستجير

O Allah: (please) do not erase

my name, ل اسمي،ال تبد اللهم

and do not change my body, ر جسمي،وال تغي and do not increase my

ordeals, وال تجهد بالئي،

and do not make my enemies

rejoice at my misfortune. دائي، وال تشمت بي أع

I resort to Your pardon

against Your punishment, أعوذ بعفوك من عقابك،

and I resort to Your mercy

against Your chastisement, وأعوذ برحمتك من عذابك،

and I resort to Your pleasure

against Your wrath, برضاك من سخطك،وأعوذ

and I resort to You from You ،وأعوذ بك منك Enormous be the praise of

You ثناؤك جل

You are as exactly as You

have praised Yourself, أنت كما أثنيت على نفسك

and above all that which is

said about You. .وفوق ما يقول القائلون

It is worth mentioning that °ad¢ths have decided a great reward for him who offers

a one hundred Rak`ah prayer at this night; in each Rak`ah of which the S£rah of al-

Fati¦ah is recited once and the S£rah of al-Taw¦¢d is repeated ten times.


15th

of Sha`ban

On the fifteenth of Sha`ban, the twelfth Imam al-Mahdi, the Patron of the Age

(¯a¦ib al-Zaman), was born—may Allah (swt)’s blessings be upon him and his

immaculate ancestors.

Recite the following ziyarah on this day:

بسم ٱلله ٱلرحمن ٱلرحيمIn the Name of Allah; the All-

beneficent, the All-merciful.

ـس .سالم على آل يPeace be upon the Household of

Y¡s¢n.

السالم عليك يا داعي ٱلله ورباني آياته

Peace be upon you, O caller to

Allah and interpreter of His

Verses.

السالم عليك يا باب ٱلله وديان دينه

Peace be upon you, O door to

Allah and applier of His religion.

السالم عليك يا خليفة ٱلله وناصر حقه

Peace be upon you, O viceroy of

Allah and backer of His right.

السالم عليك يا حجة ٱلله ودليل إرادته

Peace be upon you, O Argument

of Allah and sign of His

volition.

السالم عليك يا تالي كتاب ٱلله وترجمانه

Peace be upon you, O reciter of

the Book of Allah and its

interpreter.

السالم عليك في آناء ليلك طراف نهاركاو

Peace be upon you at the hours

of Your night and the two ends of Your day.

Peace be upon you, O herald ofالسالم عليك يا بقية ٱلله Allah on His lands.


رضهافي

السالم عليك يا ميثاق ٱلله خذه ووكدهاٱلذي

Peace be upon you, O covenant of Allah that He has made and

confirmed.

السالم عليك يا وعد ٱلله ٱلذي ضمنه

Peace be upon you, O Promise of Allah that He has assured.

يها ٱلعلم االسالم عليك ٱلمنصوب

Peace be upon you, O appointed pennon,

,poured knowledge وٱلعلم ٱلمصبوب

.aid, and expansive mercy وٱلغوث وٱلرحمة ٱلواسعة

وعدا غير مكذوبThis is verily a promise that shall never be belied.

السالم عليك حين تقوم

Peace be upon you whenever

you rise (to undertake the mission).

السالم عليك حين تقعدPeace be upon you whenever

you sit.

االسالم عليك حين تقر وتبين


you recite and elucidate.

السالم عليك حين تصلي وتقنت


you offer prayer and supplicate.

السالم عليك حين تركع وتسجد

Peace be upon you whenever you genuflect and prostrate

(yourself for Allah).

السالم عليك حين تهلل Peace be upon you whenever you profess Allah’s Godhead

and profess His All-greatness.


وتكبر

السالم عليك حين تحمد وتستغفر

Peace be upon you whenever you praise Allah and implore for

His forgiveness.

السالم عليك حين تصبح وتمسي

Peace be upon you whenever you begin and end your day.

السالم عليك في ٱلليل إذا يغشى

Peace be upon you in the night when it draws a veil

وٱلنهار إذا تجلىand the day when it shines in

brightness.

يها ٱإلماماالسالم عليك موناٱلم

Peace be upon you, O entrusted

leader.

يها ٱلمقدم االسالم عليك مولاٱلم

Peace be upon you, O favored

and expected.

السالم عليك بجوامع ٱلسالم

Peace be upon you to the ultimate meaning of peace.

,I solicit you, O my master يا موالي شهدكا

ن ال إله إال ٱللهاشهد اني ا

to testify to me that I bear

witness that there is no god but

Allah;

وحده ال شريك لهOne and Only Lord and having

no associate,

عبده ورسولهن محمدا اوand that Mu¦ammad is His

servant and messenger.

هلهاال حبيب إال هو و

There is no one more beloved by Allah than him and his

household.


شهدك يا موالياو

And I solicit you, O my master,

to testify to me that I bear

witness

مير ٱلمؤمنين ان عليا ا حجته

that Àl¢ the Commander of the Faithful is His argument,

,al-°asan is His argument وٱلحسن حجته

,al-°usayn is His argument وٱلحسين حجته

وعلي بن ٱلحسين حجتهÀl¢ the son of al-°usayn is His

argument,

ومحمد بن علي حجتهMu¦ammad the son of Àl¢ is His argument,

وجعفر بن محمد حجتهJa`far the son of Mu¦ammad is His argument,

وموسى بن جعفر حجتهM£s¡ the son of Ja`far is His

argument,

وعلي بن موسى حجتهÀl¢ the son of M£s¡ is His

argument,

ومحمد بن علي حجتهMu¦ammad the son of Àl¢ is

His argument,

وعلي بن محمد حجتهÀl¢ the son of Mu¦ammad is

His argument,

وٱلحسن بن علي حجتهand al-°asan the son of Àl¢ is

His argument.

نك حجة ٱللهاشهد اوI also bear witness that you are

verily the argument of Allah.

.You all are the first and the last ول وٱآلخرنتم ٱالا

رجعتكم حق ال ريب ن او فيها

And (I bear witness) that your (promised) Return is

undoubtedly true

يوم ال ينفع نفسا إيـمانها“On the day when its belief

avails not a soul

,which theretofore believed not لم تكن آمنت من قبل


و كسبت في إيـمانها خيرااnor in its belief earned good by works,”

,death is true ن ٱلموت حقاو

.and N¡kir and Nak¢r are true ن ناكرا ونكيرا حقاو

ن ٱلنشر حقاشهد اوAnd I bear witness that the

Raising for death is true,

,the Resurrection is true وٱلبعث حق

ن ٱلصراط حقاوthe Discriminating Bridge is

true,

,the Watchtower is true وٱلمرصاد حق

,the Balance (of deeds) is true وٱلميزان حق

,the Gathering is true وٱلحشر حق

,the Reckoning is true وٱلحساب حق

,Paradise and Hell are true وٱلجنة وٱلنار حق

وٱلوعد وٱلوعيد بهما حقand the promise of Paradise and

the threat with Hell are true.

يا موالي شقي من خالفكمO My master! Certainly

wretched is he who opposes you

طاعكماوسعد من and certainly happy is he who

obeys you.

شهدتك افٱشهد على ما عليه

So, testify to me all that which I

have besought you to testify.

I am verily an ally of you نا ولي لكاو

.and denouncing your enemy بريء من عدوك

فٱلحق ما رضيتموهThe truth is only that which you

accept,


سخطتموهاوٱلباطل ما the wrong is only that which you disallow,

مرتم بهاوٱلمعروف ما the good is only that which you enjoin,

وٱلمنكر ما نهيتم عنهand the evil is only that which

you forbid.

فنفسي مؤمنة بٱللهMy soul is thus believing in

Allah;

وحده ال شريك لهOne and Only Lord and having

no associate,

مير ٱلمؤمنيناوبرسوله وبand also in His Messenger, in

the Commander of the Faithful,

ولكم اوبكم يا موالي وآخركم

and in you all, O my master,

from the beginning to the end.

ونصرتي معدة لكمI have prepared myself to back you

ومودتي خالصة لكمand my love is sincerely dedicated to you.

!Respond! Respond آمين آمين


Last Days of the Month of Sha`ban

Imam al-Ri¤a (a.s) is reported as saying, “If one observes fasting on the last three

days of Sha`ban and attach it to the obligatory fasting of Rama¤an, Allah (swt) will

decide his as observing fasting in two consecutive months.”

Abu’l-¯alt al-Harawiy has narrated that when he visited Imam al-Ri¤a (a.s) on the

last Friday of Sha`ban, the Imam said to him, “Abu’l-¯alt: The majority of Sha`ban

has passed. This is the last Friday in it. You should thus settle what you have

missed in this month by working hard in the rest of it. You may supplicate, seek

forgiveness of Allah (swt), recite the Holy Qur'an, and repent before Allah (swt)

from your sins so that you receive the month of Rama¤an with pure sincerity to

Allah (swt). You must fulfill all the trusts that you are liable to settle; and do not

bear malice against any of your brethren-in-faith; and you must give up any sin that

you commit. Fear Allah (swt) and trust in Him in secret and openly, for ‘If any one

puts his trust in Allah, sufficient is (Allah) for him. For Allah will surely

accomplish his purpose: verily, for all things has Allah appointed a due proportion.

65/3’

In the rest days of Sha`ban, you may repeat the following supplication very much

for Allah (swt) saves many people from Hellfire on account of the sanctity of this

month:

O Allah: If You have not forgiven us

in the past days of Sha`ban, إن لم تكن غفرت لنا اللهم

فيما مضى من شعبان

(please do) forgive us in the rest of it. .غفر لنا فيما بقي منهفا


Last Night of Sha`ban

Shaykh al-±£siy has narrated on the authority of °arith ibn Mugh¢rah al-Na¤riy

that Imam al-¯adiq (a.s) used to say the following supplication at the last night of

Sha`ban and the first night of Rama¤an:

O Allah: verily, this blessed

month, in which the Qur'an was

revealed

هر المبارك هذا الش إن اللهم ذي أنزل فيه القرآنال

and was made guidance for

people and clear proofs of the

guidance, and the Criterion (of

right and wrong),

نات وجعل هدى للناس وبي من الهدى والفرقان

has commenced قد حضر So, (please) keep us out of

blemish during it, منا فيهفسل

and keep it sound for us, مه لناوسل

and receive it from us with

means of easiness and good

health from You

مه منا في يسر منك وتسل وعافية،

O He Who has accepted the little

(deed) and thanked for the much;

يا من أخذ القليل وشكر الكثير

(please) accept from me the little

(deed). .اليسير ياقبل من

O Allah: I beseech You to ي أسألك أنإن اللهم

make for me a path to every

decency,

خير تجعل لي إلى كل ،سبيال

and to make for me a barrier

against everything that You do

not like مانعا ما ال تحب ومن كل

O the most Merciful of all those

who show mercy. يا أرحم الراحمين،


O He Who has pardoned me and

overlooked the misdeeds that I

have committed secretly;

ي وعما خلوت يا من عفا عن ئات،يبه من الس

O He Who has not punished me

for my committing acts of

disobedience to Him:

يا من لم يؤاخذني بارتكاب المعاصي،

I seek Your pardon, I seek Your

pardon, I seek Your pardon, O

the All-generous.

عفوك عفوك عفوك، يا .كريم

O my God: You advised me, but

I have not followed Your advice, عظ،إلهي وعظتني فلم أت

and You rebuked me for

violating that which You have

deemed forbidden, but I have not

stopped,

وزجرتني عن محارمك فلم أنزجر،

Now, what is my excuse? عذري؟ فما

So, (please) pardon me, O the

All-generous; I seek Your

pardon, I seek Your pardon!

ي يا كريم، عفوك فاعف عن .عفوك

O Allah: I beseech You إني أسألك اللهم

for rest at death, ،الراحة عند الموت and for pardon at calling to

account. والعفو عند الحساب،

Great is the sin of Your servant;

so, let Your overlooking him be

excellent.

نب من عبدك عظم الذجاوز من فليحسن الت

عندك،O He Who is worthy of being

feared and is worthy of

forgiving; I seek Your pardon, I

seek Your pardon.

قوى ويا أهل يا أهل الت .المغفرة، عفوك عفوك


I Allah: I am Your servant and

the son of Your servant and Your

she-servant,

ي عبدك بن عبدك إن اللهم تكبن أم

and I am weak and in need for

Your mercy; ضعيف فقير إلى رحمتك،

and You are the Pourer of wealth

and bless on the servants (of

You),

وأنت منزل الغنى والبركة على العباد،

and You are omnipotent and full

of power; قاهر مقتدر

as You have recorded all their

(i.e. Your servants) deeds, أحصيت أعمالهم،

and You have decided the

sustenance of each one them, وقسمت أرزاقهم،

and You have made them of

different languages and colors;

in different stages of creation;

وجعلتهم مختلفة ألسنتهم وألوانهم خلقا من بعد خلق،

Your servants can never attain

Your knowledge, وال يعلم العباد علمك،

and Your servants can never

recognize the real estimate that

is due to You وال يقدر العباد قدرك،

and all of us are needy for Your

mercy; نا فقير إلى رحمتك،وكل

So, (please) do not turn Your

Face away from me, ي وجهك،فال تصرف عن

and include me with the virtuous

creatures of You in deeds, hopes,

and Your decisions (for me).

واجعلني من صالحي خلقك في العمل واألمل والقضاء

.والقدرO Allah: (please) keep me alive

in the best manner of living, أبقني خير البقاء، اللهم

and decide for me to die in the

best manner of death keeping

loyal to Your representatives,

وأفنني خير الفناء على مواالة أوليائك،


and incurring the enmity of Your

enemies, ومعاداة أعدائك

and keeping desiring for You and

fearing from You,

هبة غبة إليك، والرلروا منك،

and submission, faithfulness, and

compliance with You,

سليم والخشوع والوفاء والت لك،

and keeping belief in Your Book صديق بكتابك،والت and following Your Prophet’s

instructions. .ة رسولكباع سنوات

O Allah: as for whatever I bear

in my heart, ما كان في قلبي اللهم

including suspicion or doubt أو ريبة من شك

or denial or despair أو جحود أو قنوط

or (excessive) joy or lavish

expenditure or recklessness أو فرح أو بذخ أو بطر

or pride or arrogance or

ostentation أو خيالء أو رياء أو سمعة

or discord or hypocrisy أو شقاق أو نفاق

or unbelief or licentiousness or

disobedience عصيانأو كفر أو فسوق أو

or conceit or anything else that

You do not like; ،أو عظمة أو شيء ال تحب

I thus beseech You, O my Lord,

to substitute all that with belief

in Your promise

لني أن تبد رب فأسألك يا مكانه إيمانا بوعدك،

and fulfilling of my covenant to

You ووفاء بعهدك،

and satisfaction with what You

decide for me ورضا بقضائك،

and indifference to the worldly

pleasures نيا،وزهدا في الد

and desire for that which You

have عندك،ورغبة فيما


and altruism and tranquility and

sincere repentance;

وأثرة وطمأنينة وتوبة نصوحا،

I beseech You for all that, O the

Lord of the worlds. .العالمين رب أسألك ذلك يا

O my God: because You are so

forbearing, You are disobeyed as

if You are not present,

إلهي أنت من حلمك تعصى ك لم تر،فكأن

and because You are so generous

and magnanimous, You are

obeyed as if You have not been

disobeyed at all

ومن كرمك وجودك تطاع عص،ك لم تفكأن

Both those who have not

disobeyed You and I are the

inhabitants of Your lands;

وأنا ومن لم يعصك سكان أرضك

So, (please) confer

magnanimously upon us with

Your favors فكن علينا بالفضل جوادا،

and always refer to us with Your

goodness وبالخير عوادا،


who show mercy. يا أرحم الراحمين،

May Allah bless Mu¦ammad and

his Household with endless

blessings

د وآله وصلى الله على محم صالة دائمة

that are innumerable,

uncountable, and none can do it

save You,

وال يقدر ال تحصى وال تعد قدرها غيرك


who show mercy. .أرحم الراحمين يا


Ziyarah of Imam Ali Zayn ul Abideen

Peace be on you, O leader of Those who

prostrate!

لسالم عليك يا سيد الساجدينا

Peace be on you, O prestige of Worshipping

ones!

السالم عليك يا زين العابدين

Peace be on you, O participant Of

unhappiness and sadness!

السالم عليك يا حليف الحسرات

Peace be on you, O the Imam, Who got sores

on spots which Touched during sijda!

السالم عليك يا ذا الثفنات

Peace be on you, O one who Wept and

mourned!

العبراتالسالم عليك يا صاحب

Peace be on you, one who was Captive of

hardships!

السالم عليك يا أسير الكربات

Peace be on you, O one from The great

worshippers!

السالم عليك يا أعظم آل العباء

Peace be on you , O the son of The fifth of

the people of the Cloak (Husayn)

السالم عليك يا ابن خامس أهل الكساء أصحاب

Peace be on you, O son of the Leader of the

martyrs!

السالم عليك يا ابن سيد الشهداء

Peace be on you , O support of Pious ones!

السالم عليك يا عماد األتقياء

Peace be on you, and Allah’s Blessings and

bounties on you!

السالم عليك ورحمة اهلل وبركاته
