A rich history laid the groundwork for Crawfordsville/Montgomery County. While in MoCo, you can visit the last operational circular jail in the United States, or you can read a book under a shade tree close to where Lew Wallace wrote the book Ben Hur.

If being active and being outdoors sounds like something for you, MoCo is your place. You can enjoy more than 30 miles of scenic Sugar Creek by tube or canoe, zipline over eight lines ranging from 150’ to 2,000’ through beautiful Montgomery County scenery or lace up your hiking boots and hit the trail at Shades State Park.

We take our food seriously. You can tickle your taste buds with a variety of Uniquely MoCo dishes from local favorites like the breaded tenderloin to authentic Italian and Mexican food. Fill up on fresh foods at the local Four Seasons Market or the seasonal downtown farmers market.

MoCo also loves to host fun events. Check out our First Fridays in downtown Crawfordsville, many local festivals located throughout MoCo and get a little muddy at the ATV and motorcross races at the IronMan Raceway.

EventsATV MX National ChampionshipMay Located in the heart of one of the most motorsports-crazed pockets of the U.S., the Indiana ATV Motocross National is destined to quickly carve out a unique place in the series. Strawberry Festival Second weekend in JuneLocated on the grounds of the Lane Place, 212 S Water Street, this annual event includes food and craft vendors, classic farm equipment, a children’s area with games, as well as, car shows all three days of the festival. Live entertainment daily, along with tennis and softball tournaments.

4-H Fair July The week-long fair takes place mid July at the fairgrounds. Attractions include 4-H exhibits, antique tractors, commercial exhibits, pet and hobby parade and animal shows.
