Monoflex™ Dynamic Chest Supportfrom BES Rehab - trusted Bodypoint® distributor in the UK and Ireland since 1997

The Monoflex™ is the perfect dynamic solution for individuals seeking strong but comfortable abdominal and chest support. It is a particularly suitable option for use with mid-back height back supports, where a standard shoulder harness cannot be used, since the latter requires the top of the back support to be level with the top of the shoulders.

The goal of a chest support is to work in conjunction with an appropriately placed pelvic belt.

This brings the user into a more mid-line, symmetrical trunk position. Trunk supports such as the Monoflex™can help the user maintain mid-line position and support the trunk.

The Monoflex™provides just the right amount of stretch to promote dynamic movement of the trunk while maintaining trunk control. This stretch in the padding is also engineered to control and stabilise high-tone movements.

The Underarm Release Monoflex™ has been a popular dynamic chest harness from the Bodypoint® range. It has been available standardly with buckle attachments under the armpits, with the benefit of allowing either buckle to be released for transfers or both buckles to release the Monoflex™ for washing, or collapsing a wheelchair during transportation. With buckles at the sides, the central pad is uncluttered, and gives maximum support at the sternum. Bodypoint® has always been a pioneer of innovation and strives to improve their solutions to suit users’ needs. With the aim of providing better trunk control, support, and ease of movement, Bodypoint has redesigned the Underarm Release Monoflex.™

What makes the redesigned Underarm Release Monoflex™better?

®

Underarm ReleaseMonoflex™

The Bodypoint® Swivel Buckle itself is lightweight and low profile which in turn makes the Monoflex™ less bulky.

Double Tapered ShapeThe Monoflex™ is now designed to have a double tapered shape. This shape helps distribute pressure across the mid-section without interfering with free arm movement.

Now incorporating the benefits of the Swivel Buckle

Prevents Unwanted ReleaseThe Swivel Buckle clips in easily, but is harder to release during high level activities, or fiddling.

The Underarm Release Monoflex™ is available with flat mount fittings. For more information see page 3.

Greater Comfort The pivoting feature of the Swivel Buckle equalises the tension, prevents bunching, and gives a good fit allowing for more flexibility of movement.

Incorporating the Benefits of the Swivel Buckle Lightweight and DiscreetThe Bodypoint Swivel Buckle itself is lightweight and low profile which in turn makes the Monoflex less bulky.

.

Greater ComfortThe Bodypoint Swivel Buckle itself is lightweight and low profile which in turn makes the Monoflex less bulky. The buckle is discreet and blends into the look of the Monoflex.

To mount the Monoflex™ on a chair you can use Flat Mount Fittings or Cinch Mounts. The Flat Mount Fitting has a low profile and is a perfect option for mounting the Monoflex™ in tight spaces on a chair. The Cinch Mount is considered to be the most secure way to grip webbing. It permits easy length adjustment to accommodate different clothing, growth or adjustment to the seating system.

In response to requests for a more accessible closure alternative,Bodypoint® has launched a Centre Release Monoflex™ for users who prefer a smoother surface under the armpits, and to accommodate for a lateral thoracic support, for example, on the outside of the Monoflex™, where it would be uncomfortable and awkward to access the underarm release buckle. For other users, the central release position may be more acceptable, and avoids a caregiver having to ‘fiddle’ around the sides of the torso.

To preserve the elasticity, which is a key feature of the Monoflex,™ the webbing ends are sewn to the pads with the durable, stretch-mesh reinforcing fabric which has proven itself on the Stayflex™ Chest Harness.

A further benefit is for those who have a concern that if the whole Monoflex™ pad can be removed, it might get lost. If regular washing is not required, then the Centre Release Monoflex™ may be the best choice. The Centre Release Monoflex™ also has a stretch in the padding to provide for controlled and dynamic movement. The pads help distribute pressure across the mid-section without interfering with free arm movement.

Good posture outcomes depend on knowledgeable professionals selecting the best seating products to fit their clients’ individual needs. BES is the only company in the UK and Ireland that offers the entire range of Bodypoint® seating solutions, which means you have the choice to select the right product for your client without the need to go to multiple suppliers. In addition, all Bodypoint belts and harnesses have been tested to ISO 16840-3 for strength, and also to ISO7176-16 for flammability, so you are guaranteed durability, performance, and safety.

Anterior Trunk Supports

Note: Intended use of the chart is to provide direction and guidance in choosing an anterior trunk support. We recognise that each individual situation is unique and selection should be based on a seating evaluation by a trained professional. As always a pelvic positioning belt should be worn with any anterior trunk support product.
