THREE TIERS THREE SHORTER PANELS ON TOP TIER, ONE TALLER PANEL IN

MIDDLE, THREE SHORTER PANELS IN BOTTOM TIER.

A constant noise - DANG-DANG-DANG-DANG-DANG running along the

bottom of the top tier, and the top of bottom tier for this page.

Frame 1.

CAPTION: THEYRE NOT PEOPLE.

CU OF MONKEY behind bars looking directly at us. A young male

CHIMPANZEE called SAMMY.

Frame 2.

CAPTION: YOU HAVE TO REMEMBER THAT. OUR METHODS MAY SEEM HARSH BUT

YOU HAVE TO REMEMBER WHAT WERE DEALING WITH HERE.

A PADDED, GLOVED HAND attaches WIRES to two shaved circular patches

on the monkeys temples.

Frame 3.

CAPTION: SAVAGES.

Looking down a BANK OF DIALS at a MAN IN A WHITE LAB SUIT AND WHITE

GASMASK WITH VENTILATOR AND EYE PLATES. WHITE HAIR sticks out the

sides of the hood. PROFESSOR DONCASTER.

Frame 4.

CAPTION: AND WE WILL NOT BE DEVIATED FROM OUR WORK.

WIDESHOT.

Centre of the room, the MONKEY, sat facing us in an egg shaped

CAPSULE underneath a funnel like FUME HOOD, with wires and cables

snaking from chimp, capsule and hood into a CRADLE OF LAB EQUIPMENT.

A spectrometer, extraction columns full of bubbling liquid,

processing stations, other glassy and metallic tubes and

contraptions.

Two MEN IN WHITE BIOSUITS working banks of computer equipment either

side of them.

DONCASTER: DILATOR READY. WHATS THE READOUT ON FOUR?

Above their heads, foot-high SLATTED WINDOWS line the top of the

walls.

Frame 5.

CLOSE UP: Side on. The second MAN IN A LAB SUIT AND GASMASK JEZ.

Taller and thinner than his companion - looks up at the slats and the

constant DANGDANGDANGDANG noise. Light falls across his face IN

PRISON BAR-LIKE SLITS from the grille-covered window above his head.

JEZ: THATS RIGHT OUTSIDE. THEYRE AT THE PERIMETER FENCE.

Frame 6.

OVER JEZS SHOULDER

Doncasters barged in front of him, checking the readings.

DONCASTER: YOU NEED TO BE CHECKING THESE FIGURES JEZ!

Frame 7.

OVER SAMMYS SHOULDER

Peering over the side of the capsule to see Jez rolling his eyes at

us as hes admonished by Professor Doncaster, PULLING A LEVER on the

control panel spread out in front of him.

DONCASTER: SUBJECT READY. LETS TRY AGAIN.

PAGE TWO

THREE TIERS TWO PANELS PER TIER.

Frame 1.

SMASH!

ANGLE: The GRILLE on the window rattles from an object thrown at it

from outside.

Frame 2.

Looking down from high on the wall at Jez. Full length,

foreshortened a little, separate from the machinery that fills the

room. He spins towards us, SURPRISED and instinctively TENSING at

the noise behind him.

JEZ: WHAT THE HELL WAS THAT?

Frame 3.

Jez BALANCING ON A TEETERING CHAIR leaning back against the wall,

fingers stretched to reach up for the windowsill above his head as he

tries to pull himself up to see through.

JEZ: WHERE THE HELLS SECURITY?

DONCASTER: JEZ! MAN YOUR STATION! ITS TIME!

Frame 4.

Low angle of Doncaster facing right hunched over the control panel.

HE THRUSTS HIS HAND towards a BIG BUTTON that stands out from the

bank of instruments.

DONCASTER: CONTACT!

Frame 5.

A loud LIGHTNING-LIKE CRACK fills the air.

Jez sprawled on the floor, chair on its back behind him.

In the foreground as Jez looks at it in front of him

THE TOP OF THE CAPSULE.

SMOKE rising in wisps from it.

Frame 6.

Jez facing left, FINGERS PRISING OPEN THE CAPSULE.

Doncaster, silhouetted, scratches his head in the background.

JEZ: SAMMY!

PAGE THREE

THREE TIERS TWO SHORTER PANELS ON TOP TIER, ONE FULL WIDTH SHORTER

PANEL SPLIT IN TWO IN MIDDLE, THREE TALLER PANELS IN BOTTOM TIER.

Frame 1.

The open capsule. Sammy is sat inside, unharmed, his head lifted as

he purses his lips in an EXCITED HOOT at his friend.

SAMMY: WHOOP-WHOOP-WHOOP!

Jez relieved.

DONCASTER: WHATS THE READING?

Frame 2.

Jez midway through pulling his GASMASK off the top of his head. Ayoung and angular but friendly face. Contemporary.

JEZ: THE SAME AS BEFORE.

JEZ: DOCTOR DONCASTER. WHAT ARE WE DOING?

Frame 3.

Frames three and four are a single side on wide-angle shot of the lab

split in two. Doncaster, facing away at his bank of instruments

bisects them. His left half is on the right of frame 3, his right

half is on the left of frame 4.

Jezs Kid n Play-esque quiff has gone all bed hair on him as he leans

round the side of Doncaster, still preoccupied with the instrument

panel. Held at Jezs side, Sammy curls a tentative finger round

Doncasters jacket as a gentle attempt to get his attention.

DONCASTER: THATS CLASSIFIED IM AFRAID.

JEZ: HOW AM I MEANT TO HELP YOU WHEN YOU WONT TELL ME ANYTHING?

Frame 4.

Jez STRIDES off right, head high, Sammy still holding on to him.

The CLOCK on the wall behind him says its quarter past four.

DONCASTER: WHATS HAPPENED TO THE CAPACITOR? NO WONDER WE WERENT

GETTING FULL POWER.

JEZ: YOURE NOT GETTING FULL POWER COS WEVE BEEN HERE SINCE TUESDAY

MORNING. IM GOING ON A BREAK.

Frame 5.

Jez stomps down the empty corridor, looking more ape-like than the

monkey on his back as he grimly counts change in his hands. Strip

lights above his head. White walls. No windows. Clinical like a

hospital. The sign on the doors ahead of him - CROSBY LIFE SERVICES

CANTEEN.

CAPTION: BURGER LORD MIGHT NOT PAY SO GOOD BUT LEAST I DONT GET

MACE SPRAYED IN MY FACE EVERY MORNING...

We might notice theres an UNEVEN LINE running along the wall at

waist height behind him

Frame 6.

SILHOUETTE Jez framed by the CANTEEN DOORS closing behind him, his

body WRACKED as if by lightning, CHANGE THROWN IN THE AIR, as he sees

-

Frame 7.

NOT FRAMED. THIS IMAGE ACTS AS A BACKGROUND FOR THE OTHER FRAMES.

POV: From behind the glass of the VENDING MACHINE.

CU: WHAT LOOKS LIKE INDECIPHERABLE GRAFFITI

Scrawled across the frontage.

Behind which we see Jez, hand pulling at his hair.

JEZ:!

PAGE FOUR

TWO TIERS THREE PANELS ON TOP, ONE FULL WIDTH PANEL ON BOTTOM TIER.

Frame 1.

HIGH, TILTED ANGLE: Looking past Doncaster, facing towards us leaning

over the CONTROL PANEL. Lit by the lights on the dashboard, his

visage lent a maniacal obsession. Behind him Jez stands hands

gripping the doorway frame.

JEZ: THE PROTESTORS! THEYVE GOT IN.

DONCASTER: THEN WE HAVE TO FINISH THE EXPERIMENT!

Frame 2.

LOW REVERSE ANGLE: SAMMY hides behind Jezs leg, looking out at the

professor in the lab as he and Jez argue.

An ALARM blares from the wall, lights spinning.

Doncaster faces away from the instrument panel and towards Jez but

with one hand still stretched behind him to rest on a dial.

DONCASTER: WE JUST NEED TO COLLATE THE READINGS FROM THE LAST RUN.

BRING SAMMY -

JEZ: SAMMYS LEAVING WITH ME, PROFESSOR. YOU CANT DO ANYTHING

WITHOUT -

Frame 3.

CU: DONCASTER holds up the original CAPACITOR with simmering anger at

his assistants betrayal.

DONCASTER: THIS?

Frame 4.

Full length Jez and Sammy running towards us. A KNOCKED OVER TABLE

AND CHAIR, PAPERS SCATTERED ACROSS THE FLOOR, GLASS SMASHED SLIDING

DOORS.

On the wall, a sign with an arrow and RECEPTION printed on it.

PANEL: ITS JUST A JOB.

PAGE FIVE

FOUR PANELS LINED VERTICALLY ON LEFT, RUNNING FROM TOP TO BOTTOM,

QUARTER WIDTH, EMBEDDED WITHIN MAIN IMAGE (FRAME 5).

Frame 1.

CU: Jezs hand turns the SHUTTER KEY in its lock on the wall.

PANEL: YOU HAVE TO REMEMBER THAT.

Frame 2.

Facing away from us, Sammy lowers his head to one side to try and

make sense of the SHADOWS that stretch from under the METAL SHUTTERS

as they begin to ROLL UP beyond the glass revolving door of the

entrance.

PANEL: ITS THEM AND US.

Frame 3.

Jez, HORRRIFIED, his hands spread either side of the

CCTV MONITOR

Built into a panel on the reception desk. A spilt cup of coffee next

to it.

Frame 4.

CLOSER ON THE FLICKERING CCTV -

Frame 5.

In foreground, Jez, facing away from us, stood beside the security

desk as he sees whats beyond the raising shutters.

On the other side of the reception frontage which Sammy has his hands

pressed up against, is an INCREDIBLE SCENE.

About thirty feet beyond the revolving door, the tarmac of the car

park GIVES WAY TO THICK VEGETATION extending in every direction.

Its a PREHISTORIC JUNGLE. Strange BIRDS fly above the canopy, while

shouting NEANDERTHAL SAVAGES covered in war paint stand ranged in a

line and jumping on the last upturned MONDEO.

A couple of the Protesters throw rocks at the building as their

strange chant rings out across the limitless prehistoric jungle

beyond

PROTESTORS: BOGOBOGOBOGOBOGOBOGO -

PANEL: THEYRE NOT PEOPLE.
