About the book:
This is a wonderful book that teaches us about self-mastery of life.it teaches us art of simple leaving which eventually leads us to great position. It’s a fable, the characters in this book are
1) Julian mantle – a rich lawyer turned into monk
2) John – Julian’s friend & co worker
3) Yogi Raman – a sage of sivana
Julian mantle one of a rich lawyer who had lost interest in his life due to routine mess suffers from a heart attack and then he retires from his profession and goes to Himalayas in search of a life changing odyssey. There he meets sages of sivana and learns so many principles and practises from them. After 3 years he visits his friend john with a completely transformed mind, body like a 30 year old guy. John shocks looking at him. Then he tells him about his experience with sages of sivana and narrates about 7 life changing virtues. The entire book goes on narrating the 7 virtues along with the various techniques and examples relating with them. They are
1) Master your mind – control your thoughts
2) Follow your purpose – set goals in your life and try to achieve it
3) Practise kaizen – nurture your mind daily i.e. daily assessment
4) Live with discipline – never give up
5) Respect your time – time is the most precious thing
6) Selflessly serve others – respecting others
7) Embrace the present – forget about the past
In my view these are excellent techniques to master our life. But practising these techniques is not that much easy because I tried still trying. Coming to the language used in this book its moderate. There are some new words too in which I ever heard.
