IT Governance Matters: Best Practices for Optimizing Federal Technology Spend Suzanne Chartol, Program Director, Federal, TBM Council On 21 July 2016, the U.S. Federal Commission on IT Cost, Opportunity, Strategy and Transparency (IT COST), a coalition of more than 70 government and private sector IT leaders, issued its final report with recommendations for U.S. Federal CIOs. The message was clear: by adopting best practices for IT cost transparency, federal agencies could save a massive amount of money and redirect spending from operations and maintenance (O&M) to development, modernization and enhancements (DME). The Commission produced a federal version of the TBM Taxonomy, an essential tool for creating transparency and translating between financial, technology and business perspectives in the government. Join members of the TBM Council to discuss the recommendations and findings of the IT COST Commission.
