April 8, 2019 Dear Parent(s)/Guardian(s) and 10th grade students in Collier County,

Applications for participating in the Champions For Learning College & Career Preparation Program are now open with a deadline of May 8, 2019. At no cost to students or their families, this program provides a college and career preparation curriculum to help them complete the tasks necessary during the summer of 10th grade and during their 11th and 12th grade year of high school to prepare for their post-secondary college and career aspirations. This includes supporting students through ACT/SAT test preparation, the college and scholarship application processes, financial aid applications, and much more through a variety of workshops and weekly computer lab session support. Our goal is to assist all students in leveraging resources to ensure they graduate from college as close to debt free as possible. The 10th grade students accepted into the program commit to achieve the established benchmarks over a two-year period from June 2019 to the end of 12th grade through participation in consistent face-to-face lab sessions at Champions For Learning (see details below). Deserving low-income, public school students selected for the program may also have an additional opportunity to participate in a mentor and scholarship program to earn a 2-year Florida Prepaid College Plan. The deadline to apply is Wednesday, May 8, 2019 Below are the eligibility guidelines and program components:

INFORMATION and REGISTRATION AGREEMENT

Marco Island Academy is pleased to be working in collaboration with Jean-Michel Cousteau’s Ocean Futures Society’s team to offer our Ambassadors of the Environment (“AOTE”) Summer Camp Program. Listed below are some reminders to help you prepare for the fun adventure that lies ahead. The Ambassadors of the Environment program is an outdoor educational experience for students/campers 14-18 years of age. Students learn in a variety of ways by participating in activities such as beach exploration, nature hikes and laboratory activities. Integrated into this curriculum are individual and group challenge activities that encourage students to think about their relationship to others and most importantly to the natural environment. Our program also explores the many elements of sustainable living and how this generation of young people can begin to reflect upon how they can make a difference for our planet with their actions and behaviors toward the environment. The AOTE Camp goals are to:

Provide students/campers with a series of educational processes and adventures in natural settings.

Inspire curiosity in and appreciation for the natural world through exploration. Advance understanding of connections: land to sea, humans to nature, people to people, and

present to future. Encourage critical thought and informed action toward responsible and sustainable living. Facilitate learning about the natural world while learning more about one’s self and others.

The Ambassadors of the Environment program is an outdoor educational experience for students/campers 10-13 years of age.
