Reading: Comprehension Skills
One Tiny Mistake When I received my first magic wand for my twelfth birthday, I could not have been more excited. I
imagined pointing it towards a pile of dirty clothes
and having them magically cleaned and folded
before my eyes. I’d dreamed about turning my
vegetables invisible so I didn’t have to eat them for
dinner. I never imagined that I would spend the
next year of my life encased in bottle.
One tiny, little spell gone wrong was all it took to
shrink me. My family think that I ran away to a
school for witches. They knew it had always been
my dream. What they don’t know is that I’ve been
here all along; sat on the dusty shelf in my old
bedroom, tapping on the glass and praying thatone day they will hear me.
1. Where is the narrator of this story?
2. Read the whole text very closely.
How old is the narrator?
3. Find and copy the word in paragraph
one that means ‘trapped inside’.
4. Why does the narrator’s family think
the narrator has run away?
5. How do you know that the narrator is
unhappy about being trapped in a
bottle? Use evidence from the text.

Spelling: Contracted Words with Apostrophes
The spellings this week are words that include apostrophes for contraction.
e.g. could not = couldn’t
These words are always tricky to spell, because of the schwa vowel sound.

This week’s will be
Today we will be building on what we started to learn last week about humans. We learned the names of muscle groups and bones within our skeletal system (skeleton). Today we would like you to research and find the names for the different teeth in your mouth.
Once you have found the names of your teeth, see if you can place them in the correct place on this diagram.
We live in a ‘Beautiful World’ and that is going to be the focus of your new competition. You may want to create artwork about animals, plants,
scenery, beaches, meadows or anything that strikes you as something you would love to capture in art form. There will be prizes for the best entries.
Deadline for entries will be Thursday 7th May at 3:20pm.
