Monday 22nd June- Reading
Reading for pleasure
Activity: Characters
Choose a book that you have read recently. Think about the characters in the story.
Your task today is to think of a new character for the book. They could be friends
with the main character, someone who shows up for only a short amount of time or,
perhaps, a new villain to the story.
In the space below, draw your new character and describe their appearance and
personality. Also, try to tell me a little bit about their back story. Why do they act and
behave the way they do? What things have happened to get them to the point they
are at? Remember to tell me which story they are going in to.

Activity 1: Creative write Comic strip.
Using the character and back story that you’ve created, I would like you to create a
short comic strip about their adventures. Remember, a comic is a series of pictures
with words explaining each panel. They sometimes include speech bubbles too.

Lightning and static electricity are examples of electricity occurring naturally but for us to use electricity
to power appliances, we need to make it. Coal, oil and natural gases are fossil fuels which, when burnt can
generate electricity. Wind power and solar energy can also produce electricity. What do you use electricty
for at home?
The Big Question

Select one or more activity from the menu below:
Use your knowledge of electricity to solve the

work with electricity. In fact, they used to work
together. Can you find out some of the things that
Mr Tesla discovered?
Renewable energy is becoming more important as
we start to run out of fuel to create electrical energy.
Complete the sorting activity about the advantages
and disadvantages of renewable energy.
Sometimes, the electricity we use isn’t essential. This
means that we don’t need to use electricity. Keep a
record of all the times you use electricity in one day
