Catalyst Review Remember that if a population goes over
the carrying capacity there are not enough resources to support it
What happened in this case was that there were too many cows which ended up eating ALL the grass and not allowing enough to regrow so the population actually declined below the carrying capacity.

General Fact
In a food pyramid, the shape of the pyramid tells you the different amounts of energy

General Fact
Humans, as a whole, have a far greater impact on their environment than most species
![Page 8: Monday 11 16](https://reader035.fdocuments.us/reader035/viewer/2022062513/556112f7d8b42a7f138b521c/html5/thumbnails/8.jpg)
Why?
Use more resources than most organisms

Problems
Global Warming Greenhouse effect Depletion of the Ozone layer Killing of harmless plants and
animals through pesticides Deforestation Using up non-renewable resources
![Page 10: Monday 11 16](https://reader035.fdocuments.us/reader035/viewer/2022062513/556112f7d8b42a7f138b521c/html5/thumbnails/10.jpg)
Criteria for negative effects on the environment
Uses non-renewable resources Drastically alters the ecosystem,
environment and cycles Can lead to species displacement
![Page 11: Monday 11 16](https://reader035.fdocuments.us/reader035/viewer/2022062513/556112f7d8b42a7f138b521c/html5/thumbnails/11.jpg)
Criteria for positive effects on the environment
Uses renewable resources Does not drastically affect the
environment Recyclable, reusable Maintains the desired ecosystem
interactions Does not disrupt cycles
