How to Use This Product Guide

I. Select the Circuit that will satisfy your designobjectives (refer to page 4.0). Contact theMonarch Factory or your Distributor if yourequire assistance.

II. Select the Model that will provide the desiredperformance (Flow/Pressure) and ValveActivation (Solenoid or Manual) listed in thePower System Selection Guide (refer to page4.0).

III. Follow the “How To Order Your M-4XXPower System” provided after each Modeldescription. Only the recommendedcombinations are listed for the particularsystem. Custom configurations are availableand should be discussed with the MonarchFactory or your Distributor.

IV. The operating and design characteristics forall of the basic components are listed onpages 5.0-14.0 of this guide.

VI. Nominal Dimensions are shown for all basiccomponents. Dimensions may be found foryour particular system by deleting thecomponent shown on the unit drawing andadding the dimension for the same item youhave selected. Note: Motor dimensions mayvary according to the manufacturer and shouldbe confirmed by the Monarch Factory or yourDistributor.

VII. When selecting Motor , choose the HPrequired or the next highest HP available.

VIII. When selecting a Reservoir , considerationshould be given to dissipating heat, separatingair from the oil, and settling out contaminationin the oil. The traditional “rule of thumb” is thatthe reservoir should be 2-3 times larger thanthe pump output per minute. There mustalways be a reserve of oil in the reservoirwhen all cylinders are fully extended. Contactthe Monarch Factory or your Distributor forproper reservoir sizing for your application.

IX. All system wiring should be completed by acertified electrician according to local codes.

M-400 Series Motor Information

Monarch Supplied 56C Motors have the standardlength NEMA shaft shortened by 1-3/16". All otherframe size motors and all special ordered units aresupplied with NEMA standard length drive shaftswhen possible. The above motors may be specifiedwith standard NEMA 56C length drive shafts.

Special Motors commonly available for use withM-400 units include:
